Obituary: Vera Luceill Boser was born 14, 1937 in Red Rock, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of 6 sisters and 3 brothers born to Lloyd Goodwill and Ella Dunlap. During the war in 1942 when Vera was just 5 her father moved them to Duvall, Washington. Vera went to school in Duvall and then moved in with her sister Ruth at age 14. Vera met LeRoy through his brother Cleo in 1954. On a $10.00 dare by their friends, Vera and LeRoy went with their friends to Portland, Oregon and got married on May 27, 1954. When they arrived home, Vera went to her home and LeRoy went to his. It took LeRoy a week to tell his family and when he did they took his car away. It took Vera over a month to tell her family of the marriage. Despite this, Vera & LeRoy were married 59 years, a testamony to their love. Vera was a very strong and confident woman and nothing she faced stopped her. Learning life skills was on the job training and the two of them figured life out. She worked at Waldos Hospital in Northgate/Seattle. Embellishing on her application to obtain the nursing assistant position, she had the confidence, she would learn quickly how to perform the tasks required. She was the type of nurse we all hope to have. LeRoy Boser,Jr was to be known as her #1 son, Ricky Boser her #2 son, and Jerry Boser her #3 son. When she talked with others, she would always say my #3, #2 or my #1 sons by number rather than their name. Her boys were her life and anyone you talked with knew how proud she was of her family. During her younger years, money was tight but, she knew how to make a dollar go a long ways and ensure food was on the table. If times were tight, she would go without to ensure her family was taken care of. LeRoy loved her cooking and she learned how to prepare German foods for him often using vegetables straight from the garden. Vera was always available to give advise, even if you did not ask, she would give you her opinion. Vera spoke her mind and you always knew where she stood and what she was feeling. She gave herself to others when they needed help, and always faced life with a head-on approach. Her continued strength and love for her three sons never stopped and she helped guide them through good times and bad. As her grandkids came along, she had the same love for them and was always available to help them when needed. Vera took pride in her home, hobbies and herself. When you visited her home, it was decorated with beauty. Their yard was always tailored and family could not wait for the garden to be done. Dad worked the garden and mom would be by his side helping. Her yard and flowers looked like they were from a magazine with true beauty. Unless you caught her first in the morning, she was always dressed with her hair just perfect. Vera could make a sweatshirt look like a million bucks. Vera loved to bowl and bowled for many years. When she bowled, she was fearless and took no prisoners. In addition to bowling she would talk about how much she loved golfing with her sister Jessie and #3 son, Jerry. If one word had to sum up Vera, Beautiful would be the word. She as a mother hen and the commander and chief of the family. LeRoy remembers a time when Dennis and her had an argument and when she went to hit him, broke her finger. had fun by betting a quarter on the Seahawks game or Mariners game. She did enjoy going to the casino and had her way of playing. One time after eating breakfast, she sat down next to Dad, she only had a few dollars in when she hit a jackpot. Not realizing what she had done, he told her you won $2400 Mom, REALLY!!. Dad wished she had just sat there and played on, but she simply said heres our fence, Dad . Vera had been ill for a couple of years, until the last couple of months, she still went on strong trying to provide for her family. She fought everyday but in the end the cancer finally took her from us. Vera had a one on one relationship with God and talked to him everyday. Each night, her prayers would include all her family and anyone needing a little special word. On 7th we received another new angel in heaven which now is pain free. We know she will still be watching over us and in spirit be there to guide us. |
