Obituary: Georgia Fay Bollman (Anderson) passed away on 8, 2017. Georgia is survived by her husband Cliff, her daughters Cathy Freer, Sandy McKinney, Jan Loomis, Holly O’Keath and Leesa Tucker. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Georgia was born in Williston, North Dakota to George and Bess Anderson, Sept 23, 1934. She graduated from Camas High School in 1951. Always a scholar, she went on to get her Bachelor’s degree, and later her Master’s degree at age 50. Georgia married Gordon Loomis in 1952. Together they had 4 daughters they raised in Camas while both worked at Camas paper mill. Georgia was a devoted mother, taking her girls to music lessons, Girl Scouts, Twirling Lessons, and many years in Rainbow, serving as Mother Advisor for many of those years. Georgia had a voice of reason, and was also able to appreciate the stillness of the moment. Her parenting style was to raise independent, strong women. This legacy has been passed down for multiple generations. In 1977, Georgia met Cliff Bollman while attending Clark . Their immediate attraction was discovered in an Economics class during a debate, where they discovered they shared similar views, and from this point, began a ‘forever’ bond. married in 1978. Georgia’s career took her to Omak, WA as a safety supervisor and eventually back to her hometown Camas where she focused on safety, and health care management. She excelled at her job and her efforts in health care management earned her a ‘Heroine Award’ for reducing healthcare costs at the Camas paper mill. One of her favorite projects, while working at James River, was the preservation and restoration of Fallen Leaf Park including the baseball fields. She retired from James River in 1994 at the age of 60. Georgia and Cliff’s sense of adventure and love for travel took them to the Peace Corps - their first tour was in the Czech Republic in 1995. One tour wasn’t enough, so they reenlisted, and were assigned to Ukraine for the second tour. During the Peace Corps, they traveled Eastern and Western Europe, and parts of Africa and the Middle East by plane, train, bus’s, automobile and ‘many miles’ on foot. Their travels always gave her a unique perspective. She conquered five languages and could converse and navigate in many foreign countries. She shared wonderful stories of their adventures during these Peace Corps years, and faithfully wrote letters and postcards to family at home. Her letters are treasures that beautifully describe their experiences. She had a gift for making the letters enjoyable. Through her, her grandkids were exposed to foreign countries and a taste of the different cultures. Their love of the ocean took them to Ocean Park for several years where they shared good times with the whole family, walked on the beach and enjoyed sunsets. In later years, they shared a cabin at Lake Merwin with the family. Having a place where the whole family could gather was fundamental to her and Cliff. Friends invited them to Arizona one year, and like many other Washingtonians, they became snowbirds, and purchased several homes in Sun Village, Surprise, AZ. became addicted to the sunshine, baseball, pickleball, golf, card games with friends, and many pot lucks. were happy to have many visitors, and shared the sunshine and activities with family over a decade. Having insatiable curiosity, Georgia embraced current events, politics, and technology. Her world travels gave her a unique and educated perspective on current events. She was ‘never too old to learn’ and often was the first in the family to buy the latest and greatest ipad, ipod, laptop or smartphone. and fitness were extremely important in her life. She was always passionate about exercise and most days started with 2 or 3 hours of exercise. In her last year, Georgia fought cancer hard, with her mind, body and soul. She was steadfast in spending time with those closest to her - her family. Georgia was preceded in death by her brother, Dick Anderson, her mother, Bess Anderson and her father, George Anderson. Services will be held at St.John’s Lutheran Church, , Sept 15 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Red Cross or the American Cancer Society. |

Obituary: On 7, 2015 we lost our Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Dear Friend due to unknown health causes. Robert was 73 and was the oldest Son of Robert and Mary Bollinger. He was born in Hawthorne, California on 30, 1941. departing the family home in El Segundo he resided in his Hawthorne home from his early 20s until the year 2005. He then moved to Winlock, Washington where he would live the remainder of his life. During the Vietnam Era he was drafted into the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. Robert was the oldest of six brothers, Donald J. Bollinger, (Predeceased 6/17/1990), John S. Bollinger, Richard D. Bollinger, William D. Bollinger, and James C. Bollinger, (Predeceased 10/12/2006). All six brothers were raised on a farm in El Segundo, California. The farm was often spoken about by locals who would purchase their corn from the Bollinger family corn stand located at Sepulveda and Aviation Blvds in the city of El Segundo. The family, the farm and the activities of the six brothers are legend in their own right. Many stories have been written and spoken about the family and farm and to this day you can read these stories online. Some stories true, but most have some fiction, no less than folklore. Robert spent his life as a professional truck driver working for various companies until he eventually retired. In his spare time he would paint and rebuild cars, trucks and motorcycles. His home was usually busier than the average automotive garage. His friends would consider him to be one of the best mechanics and custom auto/motorcycle painters who ever lived. He also had a love for farming and he used the Old Farmers Almanac regularly. In 1985 he would marry the love of his life Arlene Margaret Jordaly and together in 1980 they purchased a farm in Winlock, Washington. planned to relocate to Winlock, Washington to farm and sell garlic. Unfortunately, she passed away of breast cancer in of 1989 after harvesting that years garlic crop. The loss of his wife was devastating and the years to follow would be difficult without her. He is survived by his brothers, John Bollinger of West Plains, MO, Richard Bollinger of Madera, CA and William Bollinger of Nipomo, CA. He also had a significant number of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends of which special mention is made of Teresa Kersey-Sherbina, cousin, Mary OConnor, cousin, and Steve Egerer lifelong friend. all played a significant role in his life. He was a good husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed for his conversations, insights and generosity. But most above all, he will be missed for his sharp wit and his interesting views of life. The many who knew him can reminisce about the good old days for hours about their personal relationship with him. Today I stood on his farm in Winlock, Washington overlooking the trees and land with the sun setting behind the trees. While standing there I could hear the voices of his family and the many who knew him, there were family friends, school friends, army buddies, beer drinking buddies, gun enthusiast buddies, community friends, work associates and complete strangers who were all touched by this man. As the sun finally set beautifully over the farm I was at first sad, but then I felt his spirt, my heart gladden and I felt a calming peace that I could say with confidence that I knew this man too. Like everyone else I loved him and I know he loved me. I am one of many. God Bless you Robert Bollinger. Old farmers never die, they just go to seed. A Farmers Prayer. Time just keeps moving on And many years have come and gone But I grow old without regret My hopes are in what may come yet. On the farm I work each day This is where I wish to stay I watch the seeds each season sprout From the soil as the plants rise out. I study nature and I learn To know the earth and feel her turn I love her dearly in all her seasons For I have learned her secret reasons. All that will live in the bosom of the earth She is the loving mother of all birth When my body is old and spent And my soul to Heaven has went. Please compost and spread me on this plain So my body Mother Earth can claim That is where I wish to be Then nature can nourish new life with me. So do not for me grieve and weep I didn leave, I only sleep I am with the soil here below Where I can nourish life of beauty and glow. Here I can help the falling rain Grow golden fields of ripened grain From here I can join the winds that blow And meet the softly falling snow. Here I can help the suns warm light Grow food for birds of gliding flight I can be in the beautiful flowers of spring And in every other living thing. So do not weep for me and cry, I am here, I did not die. |
