Obituary: Philomene (Tiny) Boeser passed away peacefully on 2, 2016 at the age of 94. She was born 7, 1921 on the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota to Clara and Alex St. Clair. She was preceded in death by husband Richard, daughter Catherine, son Jerry, grandson Steve, her two brothers Fred and Alvin, and sister Martha. She is survived by her daughters Clara Jean (Tyke), Yvonne (Joe), and Martha Ann (Larry), 12 grandchildren: Kim, Michelle, Lisa, Greg, Todd, Justin, Chad, Jay, Joe, Steve, Andy, and Noah, 15 great-grandchildren, best friend Barb, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tiny worked at the local nursing home and at Valley General Hospital in the kitchen. retirement she spent her time knitting and making towels for family and friends. She loved to work her word search puzzles. She spent her last 4 years at Bethany at Silver Crest Assisted Living. Obituary: Ethel Boertien went home to be with her Heavenly Father on , 15, 2014. She was 101 years old. Ethel was born on 22, 1913 in Buhl, Idaho to Herman and Alice (Schut) Terpstra. Ethel grew up with her brother Wilburn and sister Jeanette in Yakima, Washington. It was there she met and married her husband Seine Boertien. Together they moved to Lynden in 1941 where they had three children Harmon, Glenda, and Bob. Seine passed in 1994. Ethel liked having garage sales and participating in the community sale to raise money for Project Hope. She enjoyed having the neighbors over to play Yahtzee and traveling. She worked part time at the GMC Furniture Barn. Ethel is preceded in death by her husband Seine; brother Wilburn Terpstra; sister Jeanette Slim; and her parents. Ethel is survived by her children Harmon Boertien of Huston Texas; Glenda (Frank) Hoekstra of Lynden; and Bob (Kris) Boertien of Welches, Oregon; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Meadow Greens for the loving and care she received the last four years. Memorials in Ethels name may be given to Lynden Project Hope Food Bank, 205 S. BC Ave., #105, Lynden, WA 98264. A Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 pm, , 18, 2014 at Gillies . Obituary: Katherine (Kay) Boersma, 79, Yakima, died , 19, 2015 at Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima. Kay was born in Zillah, Washington, to Jacob and Grace (Postma) Oord on 9, 1936. She attended Zillah schools and graduated with the class of 1953. When Kay graduated from Whitworth, she went to Southern California as a Middle School Teacher in the Norwalk-La Mirada School District. Kay met her husband, Ed, the next year shortly after hed emigrated from Holland. were married in 1958, and had two children; Ellen and Mark. In 1969, Kay and her family moved to Yakima, where Ed & Kay lived the rest of their lives. Ed was a cabinet maker and they owned their own business until Ed retired. Kay was a wonderful wife, mom and homemaker. Kay and Ed were married more than 50 years and their love and devotion to each other was admired by many. She loved her own children and grandchildren so much, along with everyone elses children and grandchildren. Kay was a very giving, loving person who was always thinking of others before herself. She loved baking pies and other delicious treats. Over the years in California and in Washington, her garden was always filled with beautiful flowers. In California, she won trophies for some of her lovely chrysanthemums. Kay was devoted to God, her family and friends. She was a member of Summitview Christian Reformed Church (now Faith Alive) since 1969. There she taught School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Kay also participated in Bible Study Fellowship. Other activities Kay enjoyed were exercise classes at the YMCA and many years of playing tennis in Yakima and California. In 1973, she donated one of her kidneys to her daughter, Ellen. Kay and Ed did a lot of fundraising for the kidney group in Yakima, including a hole-in-one game at the Central Washington State Fair. Later in their lives, Kay and Ed enjoyed traveling. Besides going to Holland many times to visit family, they also traveled around Europe. Other places they enjoyed seeing include: The Panama Canal, Alaska, Machu Picchu, New Zealand, Australia and they loved cruising along both coasts of South America along with the Falkland Islands and around Cape Horn. Kay never quite adjusted to losing Ed in 2010 and she missed him terribly. We are thankful they are together once again, and now joyfully in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Kay is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Dave) Barker of Issaquah, WA, son Mark (Nancy) Boersma of Wenatchee, WA; three grandchildren, Emily, Nick and Sonja; her sisters, Greta Oord of Yakima, Marie (Gene) Sweeney of Yakima, Ruth (Jerry) Rupke of Ephrata; and many precious nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Eugene and her sister Pauline. Obituary: Ed Boersma Ed Boersma, 72, Yakima, died , 23, 2010 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Ed was born in Groningen, The Netherlands to Heino and Ebeltje (Hazekamp) Boersma on 12, 1938. He studied architecture and worked in construction before emigrating to Southern California alone at age 17 where he met his wife and married her in 1958. Ed worked in a cabinet shop in Paramount, CA. He was a member of the Buena Park Reformed Church before moving to Yakima, Washington in 1969 with his wife and two children. He worked at Modern Millwork before partnering with some fellow workers to form Yakima Precision Wood Products. Eds beautiful cabinets and millwork can be seen throughout Yakima and the entire State of Washington including Memorial and Regional Hospitals, Sunnyside Christian School, Microsoft, and many homes and offices. Ed and Kay traveled to Alaska, South America, Switzerland, St. Petersburg and Scandinavian capitols and London. made several trips to the Netherlands. Ed was a member of the Summitview Christian Reformed Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon and school teacher. Ed was a discussion leader in Bible Study Fellowship. retirement, he also joined the YMCA and enjoyed a senior fitness class as well as aerobic and weight lifting equipment. He was named member of the month once. He was an incredible father, good listener and always helpful to everyone. We will miss his radiant smile, warm hugs, wonderful laugh, and words of encouragement and understanding. Ed is survived by his wife, Katherine Boersma of Yakima; daughter Ellen (Dave) Barker of Issaquah, WA, son Mark (Nancy) Boersma of Wenatchee, WA; three grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas, and Sonja; and his sister, Hilda (Theo) Groenewold of Groningen, The Netherlands.
