Obituary: The Services for Bruce Andrew Bodie, age 50, of Athens, AL; will be , 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Darryl Goldman officiating. Visitation will be , 22, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McConnell . Mr. Bodie passed away 14, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Bodie was born 13, 1963 in La Porte, Indiana to Harry A. Bodie and Thelma Bodie. He graduated from La Porte High School, and enlisted in the Army at 17. Bruce served in Germany, Korea, and was a veteran of the Gulf Wars, (Desert Storm/ Iraqi Freedom). He was deployed to Iraq many times, and has been on every continent except Australia. He served the Army for 24 years. retiring from the Army, Bruce worked for CAS WYLE for 8 years. Bruce was a Girl Scout leader, who loved camping. He also loved gardening, travelling, spending time with family and friends, as well as home improvement projects. He is preceded in death by his father Harry A. Bodie and Grandmother Leona Benner. He is survived by his loving wife of 7 years Belinda L. Bodie; mother Thelma Bodie; three sons Anthony R. Kratz, Shawn D. Muirhead, and Cody A. Muirhead; four daughters Anna M. Marshall, Angela L. Hurtubise, Carrie L. Muirhead, and Brianne R. Muirhead; two brothers Paul A. Bodie and Mark C. Bodie; two sisters Pamela J. Bodie, and Kristina A. Bodie; ten grandchildren Tyler Kiger, Alexis Kratz, Michael Kiger, Justin Muirhead, Austin Muirhead, Sadie Muirhead, Ava Muirhead, Gage Muirhead, Liam Marshall, Leah Lawson. Obituary: Boddie, Roy Hansford, age 92, a resident of Montgomery, AL passed away 9, 2017 at home. He was born 13, 1924 in Elmore , Alabama. Roy grew up in Elmore and Tallapoosa Counties in Alabama. He completed High School in Alexander City, Alabama prior to entering the United States Army. He served under General George H. Patton in the 737th Tank Battalion (Pattons Spearheaders) in the European Theatre during World War II. He received an Oak Leaf Cluster and two Purple Hearts for wounds received in battle in France. He gave his heart to Christ on the battlefield in Germany and was later baptized at the First Baptist Church of Alex City after discharge from Military service. He returned to Alabama and joined Dalraida Baptist Church in 1956 and was a member of the Senior Adult School Department at the time of his death. He was employed full time with 187th Air National Guard Unit in Montgomery and retired with the rank Chief Master Sergeant. The 187th was activated during both the Korean and the Cuban Crises. He served as a member of the Honor Guard (Flag Bearer) in the Inaugural Parade for Governor Big Jim Folson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Milton and Lebeatrice Collier Boddie, nine siblings, and one grandson, Victor Blevins, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Boddie, five daughters, Angela Boddie, Bonnie Kirkland, Cynthia Mitchell, Emily Lewis (Jeff), and Frances Floris, one son, David Roy Boddie, four grandchildren, Tina Kirkland Battle (Donald), Jason Kirkland, William Blevins (Teresa), and Kyle Floris, two great grandchildren, Hannah and Bradley Battle, and four step children, Cynthia Posey, Steven Humphries, William Humphries, and Warren Humphries. A visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on , 13, 2017 from 1:00-2:00PM. A chapel service will begin at 2:00PM with Rev. Rick Evans and Bro. Doyle Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood . Honorary pallbearers are members of the Gary Beaty and Carolyn Phelps School class. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Alabama Kidney Foundation or a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Yolanda White and Cheryl Roberson for their loving care. |
