Obituary: John J. Brosnahan, 91, of Fairfax, VA passed away peacefully in his home on 27th, 2016, surrounded by his family. John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy Brosnahan, his elder sister, Peg Cotter, of Canton, MA, his five children and their spouses, Meg Desmedt (John) of Nokesville, VA, Susan Reynolds (Stephen) of Potomac Falls, VA, Jane Luke (Jeff) of Clifton, VA, Ann Marie Klipa (David) of Wexford, PA, and John (Nancy Lindblad) of Haymarket, VA, sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. To say he led a full and gratifying life would be an understatement. John was born in Boston, Massachusetts on 31, 1925. He was a graduate of the Boston Latin School, and went on to complete both his undergraduate and Doctor of Jurisprudence degrees at Boston . He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII before beginning his career as a civil rights attorney during the Kennedy administration, working at both G.S. A. and F.E.M.A. John was an avid baseball, football, and hockey player throughout his youth, and had the honor of attending try outs for spring training with the Brooklyn Dodgers in Vero Beach, Florida. At the age of 80, John and his son were able to relive many wonderful baseball memories at a Hall of Fame fantasy camp in Cooperstown, NY, where he met and befriended many baseball icons including Robin Roberts, Lou Brock, Phil Niekro, and George Brett. John enjoyed many years of coaching and cheering on his children and grandchildren in all of their activities and accomplishments. He also enjoyed a lengthy retirement, travelling and spending time with his beloved wife, family, and many friends. John was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Visitation will be held on , 31st at the Murphy in Falls Church, VA, from 2:00-4:00 and from 6:00-8:00 PM. Brosmer, both deceased. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Pat) Brosmer, Son Ron and wife Donna, Daughter Tina Brosmer Sabol and husband Craig Sabol. Five grandchildren, Daniel Cosby and wife Kati, Michael Brosmer and wife Azalea, Ryan Brosmer and wife Tyler, Katelyn Sabol and Tyler Sabol. Three great-grandchildren, Samuel Cosby, Thomas and Zinnia Brosmer. One brother Joseph Brosmer, Two sisters Mary Ann Ward, husband Ronald deceased, Zita Marie Kidd and husband Bill. Obituary: Lora Rebecca Curtis Broshek, known as Becky, died on 30, 2015. She was born on 13, 1924 and her family is grateful for her long life of 91 years. Born in Milan, Georgia, she was the middle child of Claude Cleveland Curtis and Nancy Donie Scarborough Curtis. She was predeceased by her siblings Wayne Curtis, Ruth Silva, Lorene Dowdy, Clarence Curtis, Keith Curtis, and Craig Curtis who died at the age of 18 months. She is survived by her sister Jean Bass. Known for her sparkling blue eyes, beautiful smile, warmth, intelligence, and sense of humor, Becky was beloved by all who crossed her path. graduating high school as class valedictorian, she attended Middle Georgia before she left in 1942 to take a job at Camp Stewart, Georgia, as part of the war effort. There she met the love of her life, John Arthur Broshek. While our father’s New England family was initially skeptical of the “Georgia peach” he met when he reported to Camp Stewart with the US Army, they were immediately smitten with her when she met them during a trip to New York. Our parents married on 27, 1943 and began their adventures raising a family and traveling the world as part of our father’s military career with the US Air Force. Sadly, our father passed away in 1978. Becky was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend to all. More than a homemaker, our mother was the heart of our family and the light of our lives. Becky is survived by her four daughters and their husbands: Patricia Broshek Verdugo and Mark Verdugo of Perris, California; Jacqueline Marie Copeland and Jeff Copeland of Oakton, Virginia; Sandra Broshek Enyeart and Thomas Enyeart of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Donna K. Broshek of Earlysville, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren Missy Porteous and her husband Eric, Rick Ringland and his wife Kelly, Peter Enyeart and his wife Mai Dao, John Enyeart, Rebecca Romney and her husband Josh Romney, Lauren Copeland, and Jeffery Copeland. Additionally, Becky is survived by four great-grandchildren: Ryan Ringland, Chion Enyeart, Elliott Romney, and Anson Romney. The family wishes to express appreciation to all the wonderful employees at the Colonnades who created a caring and vibrant community, as well as appreciation to Dr. Diane Snustad and Robin Turner, LPN, for their medical care of our mother. Additionally, we are grateful to the caregivers of Instead whose attentive care allowed our mother to stay in her home. Very special appreciation is extended to caregivers Deborah Graves and Erika Howe who cared for our mother as they would their own. A celebration of life will be held on , 1, at 1 pm in the Madison-Wilson room at the Colonnades Retirement Community, 2600 Barracks Road, Charlottesville, VA, 22901. A reception will follow.
