Obituary: On , 16, we lost our beloved Nana. Katherine Plechey Bias went on to explore that path we will all follow. We are saddened by her leaving, but rejoice in the memories of her love of life and of each of us. Kathy was born on 8, 1948, in Greensburg, PA. She is the daughter of the late Theodore Frank and Mary Hlyva Plechey. growing up in Claridge, PA, Kathy went away to airline school in New York City followed by a career with National Airlines. While working in Washington, DC, she met her husband of 39 years. retiring from National she moved to Charlottesville to start a family. She worked in the medical technology area with Humagen Fertility Diagnostics and retired as Chief Financial Officer in order to help raise grandchildren. Kathy is survived by her husband, John Stephen Bias, her son Jason Scott and his wife Amanda Ann Skrabut, two children Macy Katherine and Faye Eleanor, her son Sean Michael and his partner Natalie Siler, grandchildren Tynan Scott and Malena Bailey and their mother Mary Catherine Lyman. In addition Katherine is survived by a brother, Michael Plechey and wife, Nancy of Penn, PA, three sisters, Patricia Blake and husband, James, of Melbourne, FL, Margaret Taylor and husband, James, of Tega Cay, SC, and Nancy DeLozier and husband, Robert, of Jeannette, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was named Nana by Tynan, her first grandchild. To this day, she is known as Nana--not just to her grandchildren but countless friends and family members. Nana spent the last years fighting her cancer and becoming the most wonderful and loving Nana and the center of Granddaddy's heart. The family will receive friends on , 20 from 6-8 PM at Teague in Charlottesville, VA. A celebration of her life will be held 10 AM , 21, 2015, also at the funeral home with burial to follow at Monticello Memory Gardens. A reception will be held at her home between 1 and 4 afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Katherine’s name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911. |
