Obituary: Gladys Sina Johnson Beckstrom passed to the next life 7, 2008 at Payson Hospital due to a sudden heart attack and stroke. She was born 13, 1924 to Matt and Annie Thomas Johnson in Spanish Fork. She grew up on the farm and worked side by side in the fields with her family. loved to sing as they worked and shared many fun times together. made annual trips to Strawberry Valley to take the cattle and had fun each year hiking up the Timp Glacier, helping each other along the way. The fun came when they slid down the glacier. Gladys was proud of her Icelandic heritage. She was a hard worker all her life, always giving and serving others. She was a loving wife and a wonderful mother. She would help her family anyway she could and was devoted to them. She especially took wonderful care of her husband these last few years. Her family was her life. loved to go to Grandmas house. She was always fixing them great meals. Gladys loved to attend the Fiesta Days Rodeo in Spanish Fork and they always attended every night. She married Thomas M. Beckstrom in Spanish Fork and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as the secretary in the Jr. School for over fifteen years. She held several positions in the Relief Society. She is survived by her husband, Thomas M.; one daughter, Loa (Leonard) Ellis; two sons, Thomas J. (Martena) Beckstrom; and Gary Paul (Terri) Beckstrom, all of Spanish Fork; nine grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; two sisters and a brother, Maxine Partridge, of Mesa, Arizona; Matt T. Johnson; and Shirlene Brown, of Spanish Fork. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Phyllis Spencer, Spanish Fork; and brothers-in-law, Clyde Ostler, Spanish Fork; and Dell R. Beckstrom, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Blanche (who died at two months); Lola Ostler; brothers, Paul A. Johnson; Shirl Johnson; and a grandson, Eric Paul Ellis. services will be held on , 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spanish Fork South Stake Chapel, 1150 East 1240 South, Spanish Fork. Family and friends may call on evening, 9, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, or on morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m prior to services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City . |
