Obituary: Casey Sparks Bateman, age 29, passed away much before his time on , 10, 2017, in Bluffdale, UT. Casey was born in Salt Lake City, UT on 30, 1987, to Scott and Nancy Bateman. He attended Riverton High School in Riverton, UT and graduated in of 2006. Casey was an avid hunter of all things, but his passion was duck hunting. He loved camping, fishing and being outdoors. He also enjoyed snow skiing-being on the mountains and on the slopes. His favorite times were spent with his wife, Cara, their dog, Shelley, his friends, and his family. Casey is survived by his wife, Cara Miller Bateman and dog, Shelley; his mother, Nancy Liska Bateman; his uncles and aunts, Russell Bateman, Hank and Jan Perkins, David and Donna Liska; cousins, Matt Liska, Angie Lawrence, Ben and Sabrina Baker. He is preceded in death by his father, Scott Bateman; and grandparents, Jim and Lila Bateman and also John and Virginia Liska. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Obituary: Russell r Bastow, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed from this life to the next on the morning of 27, 2015. r was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on 16, 1923 to Leon Frank and Genevieve Crockett Bastow. He attended West High School and Utah State University. r was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He cherished the memory of his baptism in the Salt Lake Tabernacle when Church President Heber J. Grant shook his hand as he came out of the font. On 30, 1943, r married the love of his life, Louise Hilma Naumann, for eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A few days later on May 6, 1943, he was inducted into the United States Army. r truly was one of the greatest generation serving his country in World War II for two years, seven months, and eleven days as an anti-aircraft gunner. He was decorated with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was part of the South Philippines Liberation in Luzon. He was honorably discharged on 16, 1945. By serving our country during World War II, r showed his posterity the value of freedom. During their 72 years of marriage, r and Louise were blessed with three sons, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. rs family was his greatest joy. He was a wonderful example of integrity and hard work. In the early years, he worked three jobs to provide a living. Later on he worked in the industrial coatings industry helping to invent coatings for missiles. r loved the beauty of the out-of-doors and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends. r is survived by his wife, Louise; sons Jeffery Lynn (Candy) Bastow and Brent r (Joy) Bastow, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was recently preceded in death in by his middle son, Stephen Russell (Karen) Bastow. Also preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Frank Leon Bastow, and a sister LaRene Bastow Tanner. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Bastow Freeman. The family would like to thank the staff at the Central Utah Veterans in Payson, Utah, for their compassionate, respectful, and loving care of Russell. services will be held on , 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus 7th Ward Chapel, 2675 East 4430 South, Holladay. There will be a viewing at the church prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund in rs honor at Missionary Department, 50 East North Temple, 3WW, Salt Lake City, UT 84150. |
