Obituary: Douglas J. Banks came to earth on May 5, 1950 to Robert J. and Joyce Jones Banks and returned on 11, 2010 following complications from surgery. He was born in Spanish Fork, Utah, and he and his little sisters, Gloria, Vivian and Suzanne, lived on a small dairy farm in Palmyra, Utah. He had many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and family close by. graduating from Spanish Fork High School, he served an LDS mission in Peru. Doug enjoyed Star Trek, science fiction books and movies, trains, guns, gardening, cooking, canning, and traveling. He also enjoyed collecting stamps, walking sticks and spoons from around the world. He loved putting together puzzles with Tawni, rock hunting with Jacob, helping Melissa with her homework, watching Glenn Beck with Becki, and writing to Brittney. Most of all he loved this country, the constitution, his church and family. His favorite church job was serving as a Sunbeam teacher in Primary, and his grandchildren loved FHE when he gave the lesson. “Still waters run deep†– that’s Doug. His cousin, Carin Becker Green introduced Doug to Tonia Hale, and on 23, 1974 they were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. are the parents of 5 children; Rebecca Jo of Mayfield, UT; Mrs. Hyrum (Tawni) Berg and babies Savannah Grace and Vivian Jane of Seattle, WA; Jacob and Danielle Banks and babies Brooklyn Nichole and Carter Jacob of Provo, UT; Brittney Lee serving in the Cauayan, Philippines Mission; and Melissa Joy at Snow in Ephraim, UT. Doug is survived by his father, Robert J. Banks of Palmyra, UT and sisters, Mrs. Steve (Gloria) Hardy of Palmyra, UT, and Mrs. Scott (Suzanne) Livingston of Spanish Fork, UT. He is preceded in death by his little sister, Vivian Lee; his mother, Joyce Jones Banks; and grandparents, Leo and Bertha Banks, and Ora and Vivian Jones. A special viewing will be held evening from 5 – 7 pm at the Walker Sanderson Mortuary 600 East 800 North in Orem, UT. services will be held at the Orchard 1st Ward Chapel 675 East 800 North in Orem. Obituary: Grandpa Don has gone to have conversations at the breakfast table with loved ones that have already moved on. He died peacefully at his home. One of his real talents was to just listen to people. He had many friends that had no one else to talk to, but Grandpa Don made the time. Don was born in Palmyra, Utah to Arthur and Tora Banks. He is survived by his loving wife Marie and her family, his sister Alene Gerber and his brother Bernell. He is preceded in death by sisters Tora and Myrle and brothers Keith and Elmer. He has six children, Donita, Bob (Carleen), Loralee (Dennis), Ray (Kathy), Paul (deceased), Darin (Sandy) and two step children, Jocine and Kyle (Angie). He was also preceded to the other side by three previous wives; Shirley Lake, Joan, and Donna. When Don was seven, he came down with pneumonia, which meant time in the hospital, a wonderful fire truck with a siren, which he ran up and down the hospital halls, and a long recovery re-learning how to walk. As a young man he loved to sing. He was so proud of the fact that he was chosen to be the lead in his high school opera. He had a beautiful voice. He took voice lessons with Alene. He won a singing contest in Utah . He went to Salt Lake for the same contest and was able to sing over the radio. He loved to go hunting and fishing. He could sit patiently in a quiet boat or go crashing down the mountain in the hunt. He loved to garden, which he did well. It gave him recognition. Don served as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple. Seven months after their marriage, Don and Marie served in the Alabama Birmingham mission. were called by the mission president to be trained on Family History. spent much time teaching members of the Church and those not in the Church how to locate information about their ancestors. Don is a grandpa and a great grandpa to many. To them he was always Grandpa Don. When he came to visit the kids would jump up to greet him. There were a lot of smiles. Huge thanks to Marie, who has taken such diligent care of Don the last couple of years as his health failed. He had such joy with his two dogs Sheena and Sharee. Obituary: Dawna Irene Sorenson Banks 1925- 2017 Beloved mother and grandmother, Dawna Irene Sorenson Banks passed away 29, 2017. She was born 23, 1925, in Delta, Utah to Andrew Christian Sorenson and Martha Elizabeth Bennett. Dawna graduated from Provo High School and attended BYU. She married Arvil G. Banks 11, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they had four sons, Chris (Lois), Alan (Lori), Dale, and Evan. Dawna enjoyed U.S., family, and Pioneer history and was a member of The Daughters of The Utah Pioneers. She loved to sew and crochet afghans. It was a joy for her training and playing with her little dog, Candy. She liked puzzles, was an Agatha Christie fan, and watched investigative crime shows. She was active in the LDS Church. She served as a Primary teacher and various other callings. She is survived by her four sons, and their families. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and granddaughter, Alida Mai Dalton. Obituary: Our family patriarch, Arvil Banks, passed away May 1st 2015 of natural causes in Salt Lake City, UT. Arvil was born in Provo, UT on 24, 1921 to Glen William and Ida Laprele Strong Banks. He graduated from Provo High and later from BYU. Arvil served an LDS mission to the Eastern States. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge, Central Europe, and Rhineland. He married Dawna Irene Sorenson on 11, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. One of the many great joys in Arvil's life was working with and teaching children as an Elementary School Teacher, a scout leader, and also in church youth groups. He was also a baker and a sheet metal worker. He loved to garden, tinker, and make gadgets. He was kind, always helping neighbors. He was a true and loving man to his wife and children. Arvil held several positions within the LDS church. Arvil is survived by his wife Dawna Irene, children Chris (Lois), Alan (Lori), Dale, and Evan; brother Ray (Winona) Banks; 5 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Beth, daughter Loraine, and granddaughter Alida Mai Dalton. Services will be held on , May 9, 2015 at 10 AM at the Imperial 1st LDS Ward located at 2738 Filmore Street (1550 East) with a visitation 1 hour prior to services.
