Obituary: Daedrian Eric Butler, an 11 year old young man, born on 2, 2005 in El Paso, Texas, currently residing in Richmond, Texas, was granted his angel wings on May 11, 2017, at 10:32 A.M. CST following an unexpected Seizure preceded by Multiple Cardiac Arrests that began at Wertheimer Middle School on May 1,2017 and continued upon his arrival to Texas Childrens Hospital, Medical , Houston, Texas. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family and his closest of friends. Daedrians life would seem too short to many, especially his family, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle heart, kind Old Soul, and loving touch, with his side cracked smile continues to melt the hearts of those who knew him and even those who never met Daedrian a day in their lives. His voice, intelligent words, funny, yet dry jokes and thoughts could always be heard, and will remain imprinted in the hearts of those who knew and loved him best. Although Daedrian had no history of Seizures, and his illness came on unknowingly and unexpectedly, he remained Our Hero and Our Warrior, as he never stopped fighting and fought all the way through until he took his last and final breath. Daedrian possessed the kindest of hearts, thoughtfulness, intelligence beyond measure, respectfulness, sensitivity, strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds. He came into the world fighting for his life and sadly left the world fighting for his life. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Daedrian leaves behind his his Father, Broderick S. Butler, Mother and Father, Jessica and James Simon, Sister, Jalissa A Martinez, and brother Jarvis Butler. Loving Grandparents, Leticia G. Akposheri and Andres Martinez, Willie P. Akposheri, Mary Helen Butler, Savannah and Ernest Spann, and James and Kami Simon, loving Aunties and Uncles, Utude Akposheri, whom he loved like a mother, Melissa Griego, Sutina Harrington and several aunts and uncles in North and South Carolina. It would be remiss if Michael Perez, whom Daedrian not only loved as a big brother and best-friend, but admired and looked up to, was not specifically and individually mentioned. Daedrian was a Griego, which to those that know the Griego family, they know that means that he was blessed to be a part of a family of over 47 loving cousins, that loved him and will always love him dearly. He had several uncles and aunts that helped raise and mold him into the young man he was. He will be forever remembered by his small circle of best-friends from Richmond and Katy, Texas, Konnor, Jomar, Matthew, Charles, Dorian, Jonah, Ivan, Mario, Jamarion, Adrian, Shane, AJ, Avery, and many, many other very close and special friends from both Katy and Richmond. There are far many more special people, too numerous to mention, that loved Daedrian and provided him with love and dignity throughout his life and also in his death. He was loved by many, but Daedrian was his own kind of unique person, and very different in his frame of thinking compared to most 11 year old boys his age. He suffered from bullying throughout his school years and for that reason alone, it is important to mention that Daedrian was big on changing the world for the better, where bullying didn exist and people were no longer mean and didn bully one another. He was a lover of all things created by God, from animals to plants, and in general Daedrian LOVED LIFE. Daedrian, without question, has touched so many lives in some small way throughout his short, yet very memorable life. Our lives have and will be forever changed and only for the best, as we were blessed to have Daedrian Eric Butler in them. He will forever be loved and missed. |

Obituary: Clyde Rollin Butler 15, 1927- 11, 2016 Clyde Rollin Butler passed away at the age of 89 on 11 in Dallas. Clyde was born and raised in Dallas. Clyde’s father passed away when Clyde was a young boy. The tough times faced by him and his mother Doris Butler through the great depression had a significant influence on how he lived his life. Clyde and his mother survived the depression and prospered. He graduated from Crozier Tech High School in downtown Dallas where he was a state champion in track. high school, he began attending the University of Texas Arlington where he studied engineering. World War II interrupted his college education and he served two years in the US Army during the latter years of the war. the war was over he was discharged and continued his education under the GI Bill at Southern Methodist University. several years of hard study and many a part time job, he received his BS and MS in Civil Engineering from SMU. In addition to his academic studies, Clyde was a letterman in track and field at SMU. As a young engineer he met the love of his life and married Leah Jean Hair who was a secretary at Atlantic Refining. Clyde and Leah Jean were married for over thirty years until she passed away at age fifty-three from an unexpected brain aneurism. Their loving marriage produced three sons, Clyde David Butler, Charles Richard “Charlie” Butler, and Brian Jeffery Butler. As an engineer, Clyde worked for thirty plus years for Atlantic Refining, Atlantic Richfield, Arco, and ultimately retired from British Petroleum. He travelled many times to Alaska for the development of Arco’s Prudhow Bay Oil Field and the Alaskan pipeline. He specialized in cost estimating and pressure vessel inspection. He used to joke about estimating the cost of the Alaskan pipeline; he only missed the estimate by two billion dollars. Leah Jean passed, Clyde met and married the second love of his life, Virginia Smith. Virginia had three grown sons of her own so the family grew. Now there are too many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren to list. Clyde and Virginia travelled the world and loved to play golf together. Clyde and Virginia were on their way to DFW to travel to India on 9-11 when they heard the terrible news. Undaunted, they went the next week. traveled to Europe, Asia, and Africa and especially loved their train trip across Canada. Virginia, a registered nurse, helped Clyde through all of his health issues. On family travels, Clyde particularly likes to go to botanical gardens. He went to Belen Graf, Victoria, Q Gardens, Hodges and many more. Both the Butler and Smith families loved Hodges Gardens in Many, Louisiana. We went annually for probably fifty years. In addition to breakfast in the park at the Gardens, everyone enjoyed the annual Butler/Smith golf tournament even though no one was very good. Clyde was a Christian, beginning his life as a Baptist at Calvary Baptist Church with his widowed mother, Doris Butler, in Oak Cliff. During his marriage and life with Leah Jean, they and the three boys regularly attended Oak Cliff Christian Church. He and Leah Jean made man lifelong friends in the “Friendship Class” at the church. He and his sons often rode their bicycles to church. When Clyde and Virginia married, Clyde was introduced to the Episcopalian Church and he and Virginia were active in and attended the Church of the Incarnation in University Park. All of Clyde and Leah Jean’s sons were active in the boy scouts. Clyde followed the great scout masters Joe Patrick and Lloyd Kerr to lead Troop 125 that was sponsored by Oak Cliff Christian Church. Clyde took many a scout on nature hikes at scout camp, Philmont Scout Ranch and even in Big Bend National Park. Thanks to Clyde’s leadership and direction, his sons were able to attend man camps, national and world jamborees and Philmont. Clyde once lead a group of scouts on a ten day backpacking trip at Philmont and grew a large red beard that Leah Jean had him promptly shave off upon his return. In addition to his job as an engineer with Arco, Clyde has his “side business” as a certificated arborist. Clyde liked to work and as a survivor of the depression he knew the importance of working hard to provide for his family. Clyde began his business as Clyde R. Butler and Sons. He had a blue 1959 Chevrolet Apache pickup with the company name painted on the side. His three boys worked in the tree business with their dad on evenings, weekends and summers. The boys’ mother did the secretarial work. Another young man, the late Tommy Powell who was a Texas Golden Gloves heavy weight state champion and football star at North Texas worked with the business for years and was practically a member of the family. The business grew into Clyde R. Butler, Inc. He was quite famous in the Dallas area for dealing with trees and plant pests and diseases. He and his friend Joe Patrick taught many men and women in the Dallas area about chemicals and pest control so that they could get their pest control licenses. Clyde believed in education and was philanthropist in many areas. Clyde with others established a number of scholarships in entomology at Texas Tech and Texas A&M. Clyde also established engineering scholarships at SMU. There is no telling how many young people and organizations he helped through the years with both money and hands on work, such as his and his sons’ work at the West Dallas Christian . Another of Clyde’s passions was the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. While his mother Doris loved country music, her neighbor being Mrs. Willis, Bob Will’s first wife, Clyde and Leah Jean and later Virginia loved classical music. Clyde was a season ticket holder for the Dallas Symphony for over 60 years. Clyde and Leah Jean continued... |
