Obituary: Janet Irene Preston Burns was born on 30, 1921 and peacefully left earth to be with the Lord on 16, 2009 at the age of 87. She was born in Dallas, Texas, to the late Clay and Irene Preston. She attended elementary school in San Antonio and graduated from Jefferson High School. She attended the University of Texas and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She married US Naval aviator Lt Commander Hugh Burns, a childhood sweetheart, on 13, 1945, at Pascal, Washington. World War II, Lt Commander Burns separated from the Navy and took his new bride to the Burns Ranch near Dilley, Texas. Janets favorite pastimes were cooking and playing golf. raising her daughters, she became an accomplished golfer and scored a hole-in-one during one of her golf outings. Janet was a kind and caring person. She had a wonderful personality and never criticized or uttered a cross word to anyone. Janet was preceded in death her husband Hugh, daughter Laura Burns Moore, son-in-law John Terry, and is lovingly survived by her daughter Katie Burns Horlen Buster, grandchildren Preston Moore Maira, Trey Moore, Jenny Moore Mansker Clay, John Terry Sarah, Lisa Terry Calzoncit Chris, and great grandchildren Tyler Moore and Emerson Mansker. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Pat Dailey, son-in-law Cayce Moore and numerous nieces and nephews. The Burns family wishes to express their gratitude to Henrietta Hernandez and Ellie Munoz for their devotion to Janet. A special thanks is extended to caregivers Barbara Hilton, Ruby Orta, Rose Reyes, and Tomasa Quintanilla for their daily care of Janet. Obituary: James Jim Lee Burns passed away in the early morning on , 8th at his home in Liberty Hill at the age of 44 after a hard fought battle with cancer. James was born on 21, 1970 in Fort Wayne Indiana and moved to Leander, Texas in 1980. He graduated from Leander High School in 1989 and shorty after started working for Young & Pratt mechanical contractors where he worked for 25 years. James truly loved working for Young & Pratt and took pride in all his work. James had a passion for classic cars and trucks and spent a lot of his free time working on his cars/trucks, going to car shows and rebuilding them. James was diagnosed with cancer on 23, 2013. He battled the cancer bravely and with ferocious determination on 3, 2014, James was told that the cancer had taken over, he still continued to fight with the same strength and determination to the end. He was a true winner. Jamess greatest joy in life was his wife & daughter. He met the love of his life in 1989 and stole her heart. In 1997 their daughter joy of their life was born. James worked hard to provide for his family and he was a hero to both of them. James was truly proud of his daughter, Brianna. He taught her to set high goals for herself. He took much pride in her accomplishments both in scholar and as an athlete. Though James life was cut short, he left to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory a loving family and a host of friends. James was survived by his wife, Shannon Burns, his daughter, Brianna Burns, his mother Diana McDaniel, his father Darrel McDaniel, his brother, Darrell Fortier and many aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces and nephew. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Leander Chapel, 1200 S. Bagdad Road. Interment will follow at Hopewell in Liberty Hill. |

Obituary: Jack Wayne Burns, 85, a much loved pastor, husband, father, brother, friend, went to be with the Lord on 7, 2015 in San Angelo, Texas after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease. A visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on 10, 2015 at Davis-Morris in Brownwood, Texas. The funeral service will be held on , 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Davis-Morris with Rev. Gary McCarron officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas. Jack Burns was born in Valley Mills, TX on 25, 1929, the second son of Willie and Laura Edna Gunter Burns. He was married to Shirley Sanders on 16, 1972 in Reedley, California. He surrendered to the ministry when he was 19 and was licensed to preach by his home church, First Baptist Church in Valley Mills, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He served as pastor at churches in Sherry, TX, Oklahoma City, OK., Portland, OR., Fresno, CA., El Cajon, CA., Brownwood, TX. (Associate Pastor), and San Diego, CA over a period of 52 years. Jack also taught public school classes over a period of 15 years in Fresno, CA and Brownwood, TX. Jacks love for people reached out to many, especially those that were in prison. He served as Head Chaplain of the Volunteer program of South Bay Detention Facility in Chula Vista, CA for 17 years., and as a Volunteer Chaplain at Ron Jackson Juvenile Detention Facility in Brownwood, TX for three years. He corresponded and offered encouragement to many inmates through letters. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Burns of San Angelo, TX; one son Donald Alan Burns and wife Valerie of Fredericksburg, VA, and grandchildren Kevin and wife Veronica and Kayla; one daughter, Nancy Dawn Smith and husband Bruce of Oklahoma City, OK and children Makenna, Kyle, and Jeff; a sister, Merle Goodwin of Brownwood, TX; brothers, Earl Ray Burns and wife Marian of Silver Lake, KS, Johnny Burns of Valley Mills, TX; Sister-in- Law Bobbie Burns of Brownwood and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Laura Burns, and a brother, Bill Burns. A very special Thank You is extended to Sagecrest Alzheimers for their special loving care of Jack for six years, and also to Dr. Chris Barnett and Meaghan Carlisle, FNP. Obituary: Jack Frank Burns, born 10, 1926 in Houston, Texas passed away 10, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents Olga Marie Goldschmidt Burns and Winfield Frank Burns, his brother Bennett W. Burns and wife Helen, and sister Marie Olga Burns Liverman and husband Mark. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Theresa Adams Burns of 62 years, two children, Janice Lorraine Burns and n Alice Burns and partner Richard Woodfin, a nephew Mark Gregory Liverman and wife Wendy Dillenschneider of Florissant Colorado, niece Judy Collins and husband Richard Parker, and great nephews John Paul Collins, Joseph Collins, Jesse Collins and Travis Liverman. Jack graduated from Rice University with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1949 and a MS in Chemical Engineering in 1951. His attendance at Rice was interrupted when he served in the US Navy from 1944-1946 during WWII. Jack worked for Texaco, Inc. for 39 years, rising to the position of Vice President, Texaco USA, Gas Division. Jack was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, TX., American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Tau Beta Pi. He served as a Boy Scout Leader, was an Eagle Scout and was honored with the Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed ballroom and line dancing, and gardening was his lifelong hobby. He was a member of the Rose and Camellia Societies. Jack, an engineer, could fix anything! A memorial service will be held, , 17 at 10 A.M. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Rd., Houston, 77027, in the Chapel followed by a reception in the Parlor.
