Obituary: Sallie Carolyn Darling Buchanans, first sunrise was on 29, 1926 at point, Arkansas and her last sunset was 22, 2017 at the age of 90 in Sweeny, Texas. Sallie was preceded in death by her parents Willis Blakely Darling and Ollie Ann Mays Darling, ten brothers and sisters, her husband of 52 years Henry Buchanan, and her daughter Judith Carolyn. Sallie is survived by her sons: Henry Jr. and wife Denice their two children (Brent, Brooke) and four grandchildren; Donald and wife Thelma their three children (Nathan, Aaron, Melissa) and nine grandchildren; James and wife Colleen their two children (Sarah, James) and one grandson; and Judiths daughter Elizabeth and husband David Breese and their three children as well as Judiths husband William Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Sallie, often went by her middle name Carolyn, was a devoted wife and mother that loved and reveled in her family, friends, and Church. She had a dynamic life as a member of the Greatest Generation being a war bride in WWII to her beloved sailor Henry traveling with him at duty stations on the east coast. She also was a farmers wife in West Texas and Arkansas until the Korean War interrupted their life and Henry went back to the navy for a year. Ultimately, they settled in Deer Park, Texas. In her some 65 years living in Deer Park, she served as Cub Scout den mother, Little League Ladies Auxiliary and Optimist Wives Club member, active member of the First Baptist Church, and many other community groups. Most of all, Carolyn loved to cook (she was famous for her brownies and dinner rolls), take care of her flowers, and share her cooking and good times with family, neighbors, and friends. |

He found pleasure in fishing, but his best time was spent with his beloved daughter, Katelynn. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Buchanan and is survived by his mother, Virginia C. Obituary: Carla and Preston Buchanan were a vital part of the music industry in their own separate ways. Carla passed away on 21, 2003 followed by her husband, Preston on 24, 2003. Preston, age 54, was born 24, 1948 in San Antonio, TX. he attended Burbank and Alamo Heights High Schools in San Antonio, TX. He joined Charley Prides the Pridesman in 1969 and eventually became Band Leader for Charley Pride in 1979. Prior to his years with Pride, he played with The Galaxies, Denny Ezba and the Goldens, George Chambers and the Country Gentlemen, Gary Stewart and Ronnie Millsap. Performances included Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Ireland, Canada, the Grand Ole Opry, and 5 Bob Hope USO Tours entertaining our service men and women who are stationed overseas. He and his wife, Carla, lived in Dallas and Garland for many years but moved back to San Antonio in 1998 and resided in Bulverde. Preston worked at Instrument Specialists in Boerne since 1999 and joined TC Taylor and the Family Cow in 2001 playing various dance halls throughout the state. He is survived by his son, Preston Burt Buchanan; and sisters, Wanda Baird and Dolores Readel. Carla, age 53, died on , 21, 2003 in San Antonio, TX. She was a graduate of the 1967 Carter Riverside High School in Fort Worth and Baylor University in 1971. Carla was with BMG RCA Records in Dallas, TX for 23 years and was involved with artists like Brooks and Dunn, Whitney Houston, Diamond Rio and many others. She was the Programs Director of the San Antonio WomenÂs Chamber of Commerce and most recently with Palo Duro Records. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Irene Glasscock. She is survived by her father, C.O. Sheffield; step-son, Burt Buchanan. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
