Obituary: Judith Ann Buchanan, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away evening. She was 73 years old and a long- time resident of Cut and Shoot, Texas. Judy was born on 12, 1941 in Conroe, Texas. She is survived by her husband, James Buchanan, daughter and son-in-law, LeAnn and James Walker, three grandchildren Blayne, Madison, and Logan Walker, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Mike Berry of Conroe, brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Carolyn Musgrove of Conroe, brother and sister-in-law Don and Carol Musgrove of Rock Springs, WY, brother and sister-in-law Dean and Darlyn Musgrove of Conroe, brother and sister-in-law Roy and Mathilda Musgrove of Conroe and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy is preceded in death by her parents E.L. Babe and Ida Musgrove and brother William Musgrove. James and Judy were married for over 50 years during which they were blessed with a single child, LeAnn. She had a passion for cooking and truly loved flowers and gardening. Judy spent much of her life as a leader and member in many local organizations including 4-H and PTO and was among the first City Secretaries of Cut and Shoot, Texas. Visitation will be held on 5, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm at Metcalf Directors with funeral services on 6, 2014 at 10 am in the Metcalf Chapel. Interment will follow in New Bethlehem . |

Obituary: BUCHANAN John Charles Buchanan died on , May 21, 2009 after waging a valiant fifteen year battle with cancer. He was born in San Antonio on 5, 1936 to Charles and Marietta Hedges Buchanan, who predeceased him. a distinguished scholastic career at Texas Military Institute and the United States Military Academy, Buchanan was a career officer in the United States Army. He served two tours of duty in Viet-Nam with distinction, earned a Masters at Tufts Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy and taught at the USMA. retiring as a Lt. Colonel, Buchanan returned to San Antonio with his family. A staunch friend of Bill W.s for twenty-four years, he particularly enjoyed his fishing and hunting trips. Well-read with a prodigious intelligence, he relished vigorous debates with anyone who tackled him, demonstrating the skill that earned his West Point team first place in their debate contests. He is survived by his loving children, Ann Buchanan and her husband, Rick Moore, Charles Buchanan, and Karen Buchanan Dealy; grandchildren, Rachel and Jonathan Dealy; his beyond-faithful former wife, Gale Wentworth Buchanan; brother Bob Buchanan and wife, Sally; nephews, Garland Buchanan and his wife, Flannery and Larkin Buchanan; and numerous relatives. The family acknowledges and appreciates the attentive and kind service provided by Vitas Hospice. |

Obituary: John Butler Buchanan passed away on 11, 2014 at The Summit at Lakeway in Austin, Texas. Born in Grove, OK on 8, 1934, to Joe and Clye Buchanan (nee Seabourn) on their leased farm, 1 1/2 half-miles northwest of Grove, OK. John was a child of the Great Depression. John was the first of his family to go to college, graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1958 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. While at OU, John met Glenda Ann Ponder and they were married on 6, 1958. a short stint in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (which included John and Glendas first of many moves over their 43-year marriage), John took a job with Carter Oil (a precursor of Exxon-Mobil). In 1960, John and Glendas first son, John Joseph, was born, followed by twins Scot Charles and Trey Michael in 1964. From 1958 until 1967, John and his family moved seven times, living in small oil towns across Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana and Illinois. In 1967 John and Glenda - with three boys under seven in tow - took off for one of the greatest adventures of their lives: moving to Australia. Australia was the first of several overseas assignments (including Caracas, Venezuela, London; and Stavanger, Norway) that John took in his 27-year career with what is now Exxon Mobil. In 1979, John ran for and was elected to the Spring Brand School Board, where he served for six years, including serving one year as board President. John also was elected to Harris Board of Education for several years. John took early retirement in 1987 - but that didn slow him down. Because of his deep commitment to giving back to his community, John in 1996, in cooperation with Memorial-Hermann Hospital, established HERO an organization that provides assistance to the elderly in west Houston. John is proceed in death by his beloved wife Glenda, his brothers Jackie and Mike, and his parents. He is survived by his three sons (John, Scot and Trey), their spouses (Bill, Michelle and Adrian, respectively), and eight grandchildren: Matthew, Davis, Madison, Ellie, Duncan, Douglas, Ellie, Lauren and Cade. Memorial Services celebrating Johns life will be , 15, 2014 at Memorial Drive Christian Church, 11750 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024 at 10:00am with Dr. John Regan officiating. Prior to services Johns family will have gathered for a private comitial service. Following John's memorial service his family and friends will gather for a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, Johns family asks that donations be made to HERO, 12335 Kingsride, Box 230, Houston, TX 77024. |
