Obituary: FORT WORTH -- Richard Lee Brown, 88, died peacefully in his sleep , 18, 2014. Graveside service: 10 a.m. in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Richard was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Fort Worth to the late Judge Marvin H. and Janie McIntosh Brown. He attended Fort Worth elementary and middle schools and graduated valedictorian of Paschal High School in 1942. He attended Rice University and the University of Texas, pre-war and graduated from the latter with an LLB in 1949. He also attended George Washington University where he received his LLM in 1953. Richard served in World War II as a combat infantryman, 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division. He attained the rank of master sergeant at the age of 20 and was awarded the Bronze Star for Heroic Achievement, the Combat Infantry Badge and the ETO Ribbon with three battle stars. His division fought against the final winter German counteroffensive in Alsace. Recalled for active duty in the Korean War, he served in the infantry and as a first lieutenant at the Judge Advocate Generals Office at the Pentagon. He appeared 42 times in argument before the newly formed United States Court of Military Appeals. He later served as special attorney for the IRS in Washington, D.C. Richard returned to Fort Worth in 1956 to private practice (Friedman & Brown). He was appointed associate justice, Fort Worth Court of Appeals 1981-1983; chief of Civil Division, Tarrant District Attorneys Office 1989-1991. He was a member of the Tarrant Bar Association and its president in 1977. Richard cared deeply about his country and his city and was active in many civic organizations. He was a former board member of University Christian Church, as well as an elder and deacon; chairman of the Van Cliburn Piano Competition 1966-1969; former chairman of the board of the Fort Worth Public Housing Authority; former director and secretary of Casa Manana; former director of the Child Study ; and former director, vice president and secretary of the Fort Worth Symphony Association. Richard was a former director at both the Riverside State Bank and the Central Bank and Trust. He was also a longtime member of Rivercrest Country Club. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leigh Ann Brown. Survivors: Wife of 64 years, Betty; daughter, Beverly; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Perri; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great. Obituary: RICHARD C. BROWN, JR. Long-time Dallas resident Dick Brown passed away on 11, 2011 in Bryan, Texas while resting quietly next to his loving wife Suzanne. Born in Dallas, TX on 17, 1929 to Richard Carson and Edythe L. Brown of Dallas. The family moved around the mid west before returning to North Texas in the early forties. As a result, Dick had attended eleven different schools before graduating from Highland Park High School in 1947 where he was class president and lettered in both football and baseball. It was there that he met his future bride, and theyve been inseparable sweethearts ever since. attending Washington and Lee his freshman year, Dick finished college at the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. Dick and Suzanne got married in 1950 at the First United Lutheran Church in Dallas, and returned after college the following year to start a new life together and raise a family. For thirty five years Dick worked for the family business in various sales and management positions, ultimately serving as President of the R.C. Brown . A two-story building on Dyer Street built by his father in the fifties still bears the name The Brown Building, harking back to the time when it headquartered the companys multi-state operations. Dick loved the game of golf, winning numerous trophies and awards at the Dallas Country Club and other area courses. He was also active in family and civic life, including the LYF at First United Lutheran Church and the Highland Park Sports Club. selling the company in 1983, Dick continued to dabble in Dallas real estate before hitting the road again to work with the Gayle Linster in both Tampa, Florida and Nashville, Tennessee. At age 65 Dick retired with his wife to Holly Lake Ranch in East Texas. In addition to playing golf, Dick remained actively involved with the local Kiwanis Club, the Holly Lake Chambers Economic Development Committee, the Holly Lake Gazette newspaper and their new spiritual home Holly Tree Chapel. recently relocated to Bryan, Texas for health reasons and to be closer to family. Dick is loved and survived by his devoted wife Suzanne, his sister Jean Durkee of The Woodlands, TX, his daughter Judy Marshall and her husband Kent of Bryan, TX, his son Rick Brown and his wife Kay of Dallas, TX, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A remembrance service will be held in the chapel at Sparkman-Hillcrest on 19, 2011 beginning at 2 pm, followed by a brief graveside interment service. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to lend your time and support to the charity of your choosing. |

Obituary: Rex Eugene Brown, Sr., born on 15, 1949, to Helen & Bo Brown, was the light of their lives. He passed away to be with the Lord on 17, 2014. How do you speak for the one that spoke so eloquently for all of us? Its difficult. Like what he wrote for Pat at Christmas time. You are my caregiver & helpmate for better or worse \ ow and forever. In your hands, you have always held and now hold the most fragile thing I possess \ MY HEART! How does one follow such beautiful words as those, but we will try, because he was so deserving of a speech about his life. Here it goes Rex, You were a loving father, husband, son, uncle and friend. He had a calling to be a teacher at Liberty High School, his one true love for Science. He went to Deer Park High School, U of H Masters of Education and Bachelors in Science. He was retired from Exxon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bo & Helen Brown; son, Rex Jr,; Lou and Walter SoRelle; Hulen and Thelma Jones; Aunt Linda Parrish and Johnny Melton. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Pat Brown; and son, Mark Brown; several nieces and nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, and many friends. Special thanks to Dr. Challa and Dr. Mary Hewett, ED Dept at San Jacinto and EMS Highlands Volunteer Dept.
