Obituary: Anna Virginia Hawkins Bridge passed away at the age of 90 on 10, 2014. She was born in Waco, Texas, 27, 1923 to Mary Gonzales Hawkins and Willie Lee Hawkins. At the age of 14, she moved with her parents and young brother to Port Isabel, Texas and graduated from Port Isabel High School in 1941. During World War II, she worked in the laboratory of the Coastal Refineries plant in Port Isabel, and was the first woman hired to work in that capacity. She worked nights and attended morning classes at Brownsville Jr. , receiving an Associate Degree in 1946. the war, she attended Baylor University, graduating with a Bachelors degree in 1947 and a Masters degree in 1955. On 9, 1950, she married Joe Hernandez Bridge in Waco, Texas. met as children and were married 43 years until his death 21, 1994. were both retired teachers. She was a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church and a founding member of The Fellowship of San Antonio where she attended with her family. She was a strong believer in prayer and was known to spend hours every night on her prayer list. She was also a member of the following organizations: Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Jamestown Society, Daughters of the War of 1812, Ladies of the Thistle, Daughters of the American Colonists, Magna Charta Dames and Barons, Colonial Dames of the XVI I Century, Plantagenet Society, Colonial Order of the Crown, Society of Americans of Royal Descent, Society of the Descendants of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, American Association of University Woman, State Association of Texas Pioneers, Life Member of the Baylor Alumni Association, Baylor Heritage Club, San Antonio Baylor Womens League, Pan American Round Table, San Antonio Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Central Texas Museum Association in Salado. her husbands death, she devoted the rest of her life to genealogy research and travel. Of the 14 countries she had visited, Israel and England were her favorites. She was a strong Christian woman and a wonderful teacher for 32 years. She instilled the importance of faith and education to all who listened. She is survived by four daughters; Marinela Merritt, Patricia Ann Strawn and her husband Jack, Anna Virginia Vandertulip and her husband Don, and Suzanne Bell. She is also survived by six grandchildren; William Donald and Chelle Vandertulip, Virginia Lynn and Michael Aaron, Joe Daniel and Julie Vandertulip, Lee and Rosemary Vandertulip, Mary Lisa and Joe Mireles, and Lucinda and Sonny Shirey. Anna Virginia was blessed to have nine great-grandchildren; Liam Vandertulip, Virginia Aaron, Will Aaron, Joshua Aaron, Rebecca Aaron and a little Aaron on the way, Emily Vandertulip, Daniel Vandertulip, and Morgan Vandertulip. She leaves a rich legacy for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that were blessed to have had her in their lives. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Anita Hawkins as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Bridge and her brother, William Hawkins Jr. of McAllen, Texas. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the caring staff at Seraphim Assisted Living for acting as an extended family, and to Legacy Hospice for superior care during her final days. Obituary: George Edward Brideweser passed away on 26, 2009. He was born to George Edward Brideweser Sr. and Blanche Louella Applegate on 16, 1919 in Alpena, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Peggy Joy Spurgers and six sisters. George passed away peacefully with his three youngest sons at his side. He is survived by his five sons and their families: Ronald (Ellen) of Laguna Hills, CA, Robert of Garden Grove, CA, Philip (Karen) of Austin, TX, Christopher (Suzie) and John (Vicki) of Midland, TX. His grandchildren include Jon Brideweser, Brandi Brideweser, Katie Brideweser, Brett Brideweser and Nathan Kampe. George has two sisters living in Englewood, Ohio, Julia Swaney and Jesse Hendrickson. George has long cherished the relationship he had with the brother of his wife, John Spurgers. George Brideweser came to Midland in 1949 and opened City Cleaners. He was largely employed in retail sales and worked at C&H Appliance in the 1950s and later went to work at Sears and Roebuck where he spent 19 years on the Sears sales staff. Obituary: Sidney Ann Zemanek Bridewell, 97 years old, of Dallas, Texas passed away 30, 2015 in her home. She was born on 27, 1918 in Guy, TX, the daughter of Josef and Kristina Zemanek. She was predeceased by her two brothers, two sisters, and her husband (1979). She graduated from Blessing High School in 1938, where she played basketball and tennis. Receiving a scholarship, she graduated from a business school in Houston, and then, moved to Dallas (1940 )to work for General Electric and Sun Oil during World War II. On 30, 1943, she married L.A. Bridewell and had three children. During their marriage, she was a homemaker, but she also worked as an editor and accountant to add to her childrens educational fund. For many years she served as treasurer of The Dallas Garden Club, in several PTA offices, and as a Campfire Girl Leader. She is survived by her daughter Linda Waldo, her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Ike Vanden Eykel, and her son and daughter-in-law David and Sandy Bridewell, all of whom live in Dallas. Sidney was the proud grandmother of Dr. Eric Vanden Eykel, Lindsey Vanden Eykel, Steven Vanden Eykel, Lauren Waldo Young and Michael Waldo. She also lived to have two great granddaughters Jane and Sidney. Inheriting a love and respect for education from her father, she did much to enhance the education of her children and grandchildren and insure the education of her great grandchildren through her estate planning. Sidney loved to travel and made several trips back to her family home in Czech Republic. She was a member of SPJST, the Slovanic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas, for over 70 years and a member of Ennis and Dallas Krouzek since 1986. Visitation will be on , 1, 2016 at Sparkman-Hillcrest , 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX from 5-7 pm. Services will be at Sparkman-Hillcrest on , 2, 2016 at 10:00 am with graveside services following. A special thank you to Janet Cooper, Iris Lott, and Mary Malcom, her VNA caregivers.
