Obituary: Mary Lee Brehm, of New Braunfels, passed away on , May 16, 2010 at the Odyssey Hospice House in San Antonio. Mary was born 2, 1943 to Alfred and Lucille (Scheel) Ott in New Braunfels. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in New Braunfels and worked for Ford at the Bock Bluebonnet Motor Co. for 43 years. She enjoyed bowling and was a Nine-pin Bowling member of Cibolo Bowling Club, and former member of Solms and Fischer Bowling Clubs. She loved dancing to Country and Western Music and going to the coast. She is survived by husband, Arvin Brehm; daughters, Donna Smith and Lisa Marie Dietert and husband Randy; son, Jeremy Scott Brehm; son-in-law, Grant Smith; brother, Wilfred Ott and wife Emily; sister, Betty Bunoch and husband Stanley; brother, Danny Ott and wife Molly; grandchildren, Joshua Clay Smith, Brandon Aubrey Smith, Kendra Marie Dietert and Dalton Ray Dietert. Public visitation will begin 5:00 PM at the Zoeller and will continue until 9:00 PM. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM , May 20 2010 at the Zoeller . In lieu of flower memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Hope Hospice. |

Obituary: Leonard Walter Brehm, native of San Antonio, entered heaven on , 27, 2003. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Madeleine A. Brehm, son, David L. Brehm and wife Susan, of Dallas Texas, daughters, Lynette R. Brehm & Marlene B. Brehm of Los Angeles; brother, Stanley Brehm and wife Marilyn of Bulverde Texas, as well as a host of close nieces and nephews and friends. Leonard was born on 11, 1927. Leonard graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1945 and Trinity University in 1949 where he received a BA & Masters of Education. Leonard was active in student government, a member of Kappa Phi Sigma, the Blue Key Fraternity, Town Club, and WhoÂs Who, American Universities & s. Leonard was a total contributor & he loved to pass on knowledge. He began teaching in the San Antonio Independent School District in the fall of 1949 & taught for 17 years at Page Middle School and then Harris Middle School. He also taught at NISD for 4 years from 1980-1984. Leonard was a successful business person as well as an educator. He became a loan officer for the San Antonio Teachers Credit Union in 1968 and soon after became chairman of the loan department. In 1984 he was promoted to Executive Vice President and held that position until he retired in 1990. He served on the board of Directors at SATCU during the same time period. Leonard served as a Staff Sergeant with the Texas Air National Guard, 182nd Fighter Squadron in the Korean conflict alongside his brother Stanley. Leonard was a member of Community Evangelical Church for 40 years. While there, he was President of the Church Council, Chairman of the Board of Education, coach of Athletic Teams, Camp counselor & Teacher. Leonard also served as Texas delegate to the National Christian Youth conference at Norte Dame in 1954. While there, he had the honor of meeting Martin Luther King. Leonard met Madeleine, his wife, on a blind date set up by a loan officer at SATCU. married and Leonard became a member of St. Lukes and later St. Marks Catholic Church. He served on the church council, was a CCD teacher and coached various CYO athletic teams. Christmas was his favorite time of year and he loved to decorate his home with beautiful lights and manger scene on the front lawn. Leonard loved to travel. Over the years he camped in 38 different US states, but he mostly loved the Texas Hill Country. For many years he and his family would camp on their property near Smithson Valley. Leonard was a true nature lover. He loved to take long walks through the scenic countryside. He enjoyed tossing horseshoes with his brother Stanley & roasting marshmallows by the campfire. Leonard was happiest when helping others, particularly his family. He made many sacrifices to assure his children received the best education possible. Leonard was a fantastic gardener. He kept a terrific lawn with flowers throughout the front and back yard. His son and daughter-in-law had their wedding reception amongst the backdrop of his beautiful landscaping. Leonard was an avid reader. Everyday he would read the newspaper from cover to cover. He also lived for gardening and photographing his beautiful flowers in the yard. Leonard and his son David were huge San Antonio Spurs fans & followed the team closely from year to year. Leonard mailed newspaper clippings of the Spurs to his kids so they could talk about all the latest scores and highlights. Leonards strongest Christian values and beliefs were honesty, respect for keeping ones word, peace maker, and punctuality. Thank you Leonard, Lenny and Dad for your love and kind example. You will continue to inspire us everyday. We love you and well miss you dearly. |

Obituary: Janie Voges Brehm, age 97, of Hollywood Park, died peacefully on , 22, 2008 of natural causes. She is survived by her daughter, Alverne Oakes Halloran and husband, Thomas Halloran. She was born on 6, 1910 on the Voges Family Ranch on Blanco Road, which is now part of Camp Bullis. This is where she spent her childhood years with fond memories. She married Adolph Addie Brehm on 9, 1929 and they made their home in Kirby, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband on 23, 1977; her parents, Herman and Bertha Hofheinz Voges; brother, Bruno Voges and sister, Viola Gass. Janie was a homemaker and led a full and active life having many interests and hobbies, including dancing, bowling, traveling, quilting, family history books and playing dominoes. She had a keen mind and a great zeal for life and will be remembered for her positive outlook and encouraging manner. She was a member of Spring Branch Hermann Sons Lodge #127 and the Womans Club of Hollywood Park. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Craig and Lori Oakes and Colleen and Todd Turner of Austin, Colette Hardin of Belton and Troy Oakes of Kirby; three step-grandchildren, John Halloran and Ann Hetrick of San Antonio and Michael and Sharon Halloran of Dripping Springs; five great-grandchildren, Robert Oakes, Hannah and Sarah Turner, Logan Hardin and Azure Ayres; two step-great-grandchildren, David and Andy Halloran; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends. Her unconditional love for her family was a great gift that she shared and received in return. Her loving smile will be remembered and she leaves us with many memories that we will cherish always. |

Obituary: Evelyn Brehm passed away peacefully on 29th, 2015 at the age of 88. Lovingly known as Chook-Chook by her family, she was born 16, 1926 in Pittsburg, PA. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles Brehm, daughter Terry Moore, and son Alan Brehm. Evelyn is survived by her son's Jack, Jim, Chuck, Joe Brehm, and daughter Carol Morris; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Evelyn retired in 1993 after a 35 year retail career with the Federated . She was a thoughtful, loving, and caring wife and mother. Evelyn loved to sing, dance and of course have her can of bud in the evening. Her passion for life, and love of her family touched all of those who came in contact with her.
