Obituary: Waylan J. Brannan Sr., 83, of Victoria passed away , May 1, 2015. He was born 18, 1931 in Bynum, Texas to the late Herbert M. and Ola Johnson Brannan. Waylan served his country in the United States Air Force. He was the founder of Brannan Paving. He loved to hunt, fish and travel with family and friends. He served his community as President of the YMCA, and served on the Boards of the American Bank of Commerce and Citizens Hospital. He was a member of Masonic Lodge AF/AM #40. Waylan was also a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Holstien Brannan; daughter, Bonnie Vollmering and husband, Shawn; son, Waylan J. Brannan Jr. all of Victoria; sister, Margie Halpain of Waco; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons, Charles Brannan and Robert G. Glen Brannan; sisters, Lillian Marquette and Inez Brannan; brothers, Woodrow Brannan, Melvin Brannan and R. C. Brannan. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm , May 4, 2015, at Rosewood Chapels. services will be at 2:00 pm , May 5, 2015, at Rosewood Chapels, Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating. Burial with full Masonic honors will follow at Memory Gardens . Pallbearers will be Waylan J. Brannan III, Shaun Brannan, Jason Brannan, Vincent Vollmering, Cody Brannan and Jimmy Brannan. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Hunter Barthels, Cole Brannan, Payton Brannan, Drake Brannan, Bentley Huff, Brannan Huff, William Moulton, Kenneth Price, Lynwood Smith and Dodger Moles. We would like to recognize Amanda Bryant for 39 years of faithful service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas or Northside Baptist Church. Obituary: Margaret Wood Brannan died peacefully at her home on 4, 2010 at the age of 76. She was born in Spur, Texas on 13, 1934, the oldest daughter of Horace Brumbelow Wood and Clarice Laine Wood. She graduated from Spur High School in 1951. She attended Texas Tech University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi, and graduated with a B.A in English in 1954. Also in 1954 she married Harold Moulden Brannan, to whom she remained married for 56 years until her death. Margaret was passionate about her volunteer work, as is reflected in the some of the many organizations and boards of which she was a member: the Southwest Foundation Forum, auxiliary to Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research, of which she was a founding board member and served as president in 1983; Cancer Therapy and Research; Cancer Counter Council founder; Bexar Medical Society Alliance; UTSA Development Board; Alamo Heights School Foundation; San Antonio Childrens ; Accord Medical Foundation; Military Civilian Club; Battle of Flowers Association Parade Chair in 1999; Pi Beta Phi – San Antonio Alumnae Club President in 1968-1969; Charity Ball Association; Lantana Garden Club; San Antonio Childrens Museum where she founded a support group for grandparents known as The Grands; San Antonio Library Foundation; and UTHSC Advisory Council – for Medical Humanities and Ethics. She also found time to co-chair fundraising galas for the Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital Foundation, the Baptist Memorial care System Foundation and the Nix System where she co-founded the annual River Parade party now held each year in . Margaret was equally as passionate about all things Texas Tech, where her involvement included the following: President, National Board of Texas Tech Ex-Students Association 1998; recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Service Award 1989; member of the Texas Tech University Presidents Council; with Harold, establishment of a Presidential Endowed Scholarship in their names, as well as scholarships for the of Arts and Sciences and the of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources; and membership in the Chancellors Council, Red Raider Club and the Century Club. At the time of her death Margaret was also a director of the Texas Tech Foundation. Margaret belonged to many clubs and associations, including Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, San Antonio Symphony Society, History Club, the Bibliophiles book club, Timely Topics, San Antonio Country Club, the Argyle and Club Giraud. Of great pride and joy to Margaret was the family ranch in Fredericksburg, where many celebrations and holidays were shared with family and friends alike over the years. Margaret is survived by her husband, Harold Moulden Brannan; by her two sisters; Beverly W. Krieger of Austin and Priscilla W. Neaves of Kansas City; and by her three children and their spouses: Stephen Kyle Brannan and Kelli of Chicago; Rhonda Brannan Low and John Low of San Antonio; and Ross Wood Brannan and Trish of Fredericksburg. She has eight grandchildren: Dane Zachary Brannan and Hannah Catherine Brannan; Blakely Elise Low, Madeline Brooke Low and Robert Brannan Low; and Wyatt Colter Brannan, Garrett Dustin Brannan and Kacie Rose Brannan. MEMORIAL SERVICE WEDNESDAY JUNE 9, 2010 1:00 P.M. ALAMO HEIGHTS METHODIST CHURCH 825 E. BASSE ROAD Rev. Hardy Clemons and Rev. Donna Strieb officiating. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the ceremony. The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to Drs. Karl Hempel, Tom Kingman, John Holcomb and Marvin Smith, as well as all the hospital nurses and staff who attended to Margaret.
