Obituary: Elroy Herbert Boysen
7, 1920 - 3, 2011
Elroy Herbert Boysen received the gift of life on 7, 1920 in
Shiner, TX. His parents were Max Otto Boysen and Frieda nee
Klaus Boysen. Elroy was baptized into the Christian faith on
7, 1920. He grew up as a child in the community known
as Cheapside, TX. Elroy publically affirmed his faith in Christ Jesus
as his personal Savior on the day of his confirmation, 5,
1937. His confirmation verse is John 9:4 As long as it is day, we
must do the work for Him who sent me, night is coming when no
one can work. On 25, 1940, Elroy age 20 left his home
in Gonzales, TX and activated at Camp Bowie, Brownwood, TX with
the Texas National Guard 36th Infantry Division. The Fighting 36th,
whos record is outstanding in the annals of Americas military
history, were the first to invade Hitlers Europe at Salerno, Italy on
9, 1943. Elroy fought the following; Naples-Foggia,
Rome-Arno, Anzio, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace,
and Central Europe Campaigns and made amphibious assault
landings at Salerno and Southern France. The 36th suffered over
27,000 casualties, the third highest of any World War II division.
Elroy received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, American Defense
Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal,
and Combat Infantrymans Badge. Elroy served his country as First
Sergeant and returned home from the front line for a 30 day
furlough. While on leave Elroy married Anna Marie nee Tieken in
the Lutheran Church in Gonzales, TX on 8, 1944.
leave he returned to his unit in France. In 1945 Elroy was
discharged after the end of World War II and he and Ann made their
home in Houston, TX. Elroy is a Life Member of the Houston
Chapter and National Chapter of the 36th Division. Elroy is also
recognized in the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, New
Windsor, NY, www.thepurpleheart.com.
On 3, 1948 his daughter Linda Marie was born. Ann and
Elroy purchased their first home at 931 Nashua St, Houston, TX in
1950. This was their residence until May 2008 when they moved to
assisted living at The Heights of Gonzales. Elroy was employed by
Brinks Armored Car for 23 years. He joined Anheuser-Busch in
Houston for 12 years, and his final employer was Jakes where he
worked for 7 years and retired in 1988. Elroys favorite sports were
fishing and deer hunting. He spent many years of enjoyment in
Daisy, AR where he went camping and fishing. He also enjoyed
many years of hunting in Weimer and Gonzales, TX.
Elroy and Ann were blessed with 67 years of marriage. were
members of Zion Lutheran Church in Houston, TX and are presently
members of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gonzales, TX. Elroy
was extremely proud that each of his two Grandsons served their
country. Brant in the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm and Barry in
the U.S. Army in Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo and Operation
Red Dawn in Iraq. Elroy lived and believed the following throughout
his life and made a plaque which honors his Dad, Brothers, and
Grandsons. It states:
May Patriotism, Honor, and Respect Prevail Forever

Elroy is preceded in death by his two brothers Verlon and Vernon
Boysen. He is survived by his wife Ann, his daughter and her
husband Linda and George Hearne. Two Grandsons; Brant Hearne
and his wife Michelle and Barry Hearne and his wife Jacqueline
Hearne. Two Great Grandsons Pierce and Caul Hearne.

Visitation will be held , 6, 2011, from 1:00 P.M. to
4:00 P.M.at Buffington Chapel in Gonzales, Texas.
services will be held , 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at
Buffington Chapel in Gonzales, Texas. Burial will follow at
Gonzales City .

Obituary: Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Hall Boysen, age 93, passed away on Feb. 23, 2017.

Betty is survived by her son, Charles D Boysen Jr. (Eva) Of Spring TX; her grandchildren Lisa Miller (Rick) of Magnolia TX, Staci Boysen Reese of Round Rock, TX; and Roger Reese, Sr. of The Woodlands; her great grandchildren Roger "Kirk" Reese, Jr., Kirsti Reese, Karlee Reese, Christopher Miller and Nicholas Miller; her sister Louise Supple of Hurtsboro, AL; her brother Charlie "Sweetie" Hall of Phenix City, AL and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Durwood" Boysen Sr, of Spring TX.

Betty was born on 31, 1924, in Inverness, Alabama to parents Kinch and Maggie Hall. She was the oldest daughter of nine siblings. Betty moved to Texas as a young adult where she met her husband of 47 yrs., Charles Durwood Boysen Sr. She retired from Champions Golf Club in the mid 1980s after 25 years of employment. Betty loved, and was loved by all. She was a strong and independent lady who served in the Civil Service during World War II. She enjoyed services, spending time with family and friends and mothering all the children in her presence. She always had a glass of sweet tea, a cup of coffee, or an extra seat at the table for anyone that had time to stop by for a visit. She took great pride, and pleasure, in being a central and very active part in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and numerous others whom she loved dearly and were an integral part of her life.

A funeral is scheduled for Elizabeth Betty Boysen , 28, 2017 at American Heritage , visitation will be at 11am, and the service will follow at 12:00. Brother Moore will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bettys life.

Obituary: Robert "Bob" Boynton, 76, of Lufkin, son of the late Bernice (Teutsch) and Robert Boynton, Sr., was born 31, 1934 and passed away 16, 2011 at his residence.
Bob served with the United States Air Force for 20 years prior to receiving his Honorable Discharge on 30 1973. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant (E-6) and his specialty was listed as Aircraft Maintenance Tech and Airplane Mechanic. He had one and a half years of foreign service in Indochina. returning to Lufkin, he went to work for Lufkin Industries and remained until he also retired from there.
Bob loved his family - he was a good husband, father and grandfather. For enjoyment, he looked forward to going to "the deer lease" where he would hunt, fish and spend time with his family and friends. He really enjoyed planning a "fish fry" and inviting all of the family and friends to partake.
Survivors include his wife, Boynton of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Pam Boynton of Bandera, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Bill Larvin of Cedar Park, Texas and Robin and Mike Gallien of Baytown, Texas; grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica and Jennifer Boynton, Cortney Carter and Robert Granger; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Boynton, Savannah, Summer and Madison Carter; 3 brothers, Dr. James and Corrie Ann Boynton, Norris "Tooter" and Kathryn Boynton, Amos Boynton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Boynton was preceded in death by his parents.
Services for Mr. Boynton will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 19, 2011 in the Gipson Chapel with Rev. Martin Doran officiating. Private interment will be in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. evening at Gipson .
