Obituary: Charlie Boettcher left us on 29, 2010 to be united again with his mother, father and sister.

Charlie was born in Petersburg, VA to Charles and Mary Ellen Boettcher on 29, 1933. He grew up helping his father run the milk route, and those early memories and experiences stayed with him forever. He learned early about the importance of respect for all people and the value of hard work and responsibility. All his life, he had an open heart, always eager to help and shared whatever he had. Charlie had a passion to serve, and as a very young man, joined the Marines at age 17. Although passionate to serve, this was too soon so he was discharged until he could rejoin the service in 1951. Soon after joining the Air Force he was assigned to Pepperrell AFB in St Johns Newfoundland, where he met the girl who would be his life partner for the next 55 years, Marie Boettcher. Together they traveled the world and raised two children Carl Boettcher of Leander and Charlene Boettcher of Lee, MA. Charlie served in the Air Force for over twenty years. During that period he served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and made life-long friendships that he held dear to the last day of his life.

retiring from the Air Force in the summer of 1971, Charlie brought his family to Austin and began a second career as a small businessman continuing to serve people and help in any way he could. He held a firm belief in the power of intention and shared the "ABCs" of life with all: Whatever you can Conceive, if you truly Believe it, you can Achieve it.

Charlie is survived by his wife Marie Boettcher, son Carl Boettcher, daughter Charlene Boettcher, daughter-in-law Petra Boettcher, grandsons Scott and Eddie and sisters Eleanor "Sugar" Brown with husband Wayne, and Nancy Pittman with husband Bill along with many nieces, nephews and numerous family, friends and those who loved him dearly. He leaves us with full hearts knowing he is "in the wind".

Military Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on , 10, 2010 at Central Texas State Veterans in Killeen, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, P.O. 1000, Austin, Texas 78767.

Obituary: BOETTCHER, CATHERINE Born 27, 1920, in Dallas, Katie Boettcher passed peacefully on 10, 2014. As a child, she was a horsewoman, often riding in local horse shows. Catherine attended North Dallas High School and the University of Texas at Arlington, where she studied architecture. As a young woman, she loved to dance, and her sparkle (and her jitterbug) during a holiday dance when she was nineteen years of age won her three marriage proposals. None of those proposals, however, were from Emil Boettcher, Jr., the man to whom she was to be married for 56 years. Catherine worked as a technical illustrator. She drew the wiring diagrams for such complexes as the Chicago Post Office, for the communication modules of the first manned spacecraft, and other spacecraft. Although today it is not unusual for women to be involved in technical fields , in her day it was rare, and her part in the history of aeronautics and astronautics was both significant and groundbreaking. She was socially quite active, engaging in sports such as bowling and golf, bridge, and flower arranging. A fitters model for Kohen-Ligon-Folz Inc., a Dallas-based womens apparel manufacturer, she was also an accomplished seamstress, making many of her own clothes, as well as outfits for her daughters Randie Kaye and Karen, and for her grandchildren y, Alan, and Emily. Knitting and crochet were hobbies that she enjoyed. She was an outstanding cook, and her recipes are being shared still, bringing pleasure to many people. One of her specialties was angel-food cake. She was well-known in her circle of friends for bringing them as much-anticipated gifts for birthdays and other special occasions. Catherine and her husband Emil were lifelong residents of the city of Dallas, and lifelong members of Oak Lawn Methodist Church. Services are to be held at Restland Wildwood Chapel on , 15, 2014. Visitation will be at 2:00 PM, funeral services at 3:00 PM, with graveside services to follow. It was her wish that, in lieu of flowers, friends could make contributions to Oak Lawn Methodist Church.
