Obituary: Raul M. Bobadilla Jr. entered the Kingdom of Heaven on , 27th. Raul was the proud father of three sons - Raul III, Niko, and Jac. His sons filled his life with love, laughter, and immeasurable pride. His sisters - Chris, Michele, and Elena are heartbroken by the sudden passing of their only brother. Raul was preceded in death by his loving parents just having lost his mother in . Raul was a native Dallasite who was a member of the "Wildcat Nation". In high school, he was an outstanding athlete; friend to many; jokester; good student; and a typical teenager. He enjoyed being a football player, member of the track team, and lifting weights. His WWHS posse, became extended members of his family. His parents and sisters knew them well and enjoyed the camaraderie and humor they shared. graduating from high school, he attended Stephen F. Austin State University. He loved college life - especially the social life! college, he returned to Dallas and began his professional career; married; became a father; and landed a position with Mobil Oil. As his career progressed and his family was blessed with three sons, his career path took him from Dallas to Houston and from Houston to Winchester, VA. Throughout his years in the Shenandoah Valley, he had the good fortune to see his sons grow and enjoyed their participation in soccer, baseball, football, wrestling, and track. The boys had five acres to explore with their ATVs as they drove around their homestead, around and over the pond, and finally through the neighbors' apple orchard. Many summers were spent at the Cape enjoying relaxed days, bike rides, lobster rolls, and baseball games. His colleagues at Exxon Mobil remember him as a great mentor, trainer, teacher, and friend. Raul enjoyed his days with Exxon Mobil and held a number of positions with expanded responsibilities. Life changes and the turn in the economy hit hard. Raul returned to Dallas, and had just been in town a little over four months. Here, he began working with STL Engineers and was assigned to the expansion of the I-35 corridor project. Gone much too soon, Raul has left us with many precious memories; with three incredible, young men who are shining stars in our lives; with his special doodles drawn to commemorate a celebration or just to say I love you; and with the knowledge that his sons have a special Angel watching over them as they mature and live their lives with passion and purpose. A private family gathering will follow the service. We thank you for your support as you continue to lift the Bobadilla Family in prayer. under the direction of Sparkman & Cremation Services, Richardson, TX. |

Obituary: Christine E. Bobadilla, Chris, was born in 1951 in Dallas, Texas, to Raul and Aurora Bobadilla. Their first born, she was quite literally, a bouncing bundle of joy! Non-stop energy, a porcelain complexion, a radiant smile, a head full of curls, and her signature laughter captivated her parents hearts from the start. Chris was the quintessential older sister to Michele and Elena and to her late brother, Raul Jr. On , 15, a beautiful, crisp spring morning, the Lord called her home. A life-long East Dallas girl she attended Davy Crockett and William Lipscomb Elementary Schools, J.L. Long Junior High, and Woodrow Wilson High School. Chris took great pride in having attended some of the best schools in Dallas ISD and loved growing up in a community that was a true neighborhood. A place where people looked out for each other - where as children we could ride our bikes or skate down the sidewalks of the tree lined streets with the greatest of ease; where everyone knew you by name; where finding a lemonade stand on a hot, summer day was not out of the ordinary; where matinees at the Lakewood Theater were a rite of passage along with cruising around White Rock Lake and splashing in the spillway; where we could walk to the Y and meet up with friends; where the soda fountain at the pharmacy was the place to be and where the Lakewood Library was a hot spot long before WiFi - a place you could call home. graduating from Woodrow in 1970 as an honors graduate, Chris was offered a full ride scholarship to Wellesley . Suddenly, she found herself at a crossroad not sure if she was ready to leave home and the warmth of family, friends, and the Texas sun. much deliberation, she decided to start her college education at El Centro and a year later transferred to The University of Texas at Austin where she majored in art. She literally bled orange and white. Texas Fight was her song of choice. Hookem Horns because none are better! Making the Deans List, Chris excelled academically and loved campus life. Her professional career began at Mobil Oil, home to Dallas signature Pegasus. There she made a friend for life, Meriann Lawson. Her career path with Mobil Oil was lengthy and offered her many opportunities for growth, travel, and for a time she established roots in Virginia, before returning to Dallas. During her Mobil heydays, she developed lifelong friendships with Amy and Bill Wells, Debbie Burke, Lara Burr and many others. She later became a Heritage Mobil employee through the Exxon Mobil merger. When her Mobil days as a Diversity Marketing Manager came to a close, Chris embarked on a new adventure. She began working with the League of United Latin American Citizens. Hector Flores, national president, established a Dallas office and Chris managed his plethora of responsibilities. As was her style, she dove head first into ensuring that as president of one of the nations oldest and largest civil rights organizations, Mr. Flores and LULACs agenda, would be top of mind with corporate partners. She did this by building and nurturing relationships in support of the organizations mission. Her time at LULAC included visits to Los Pinos national collaborations, establishment of the LULAC Presidents Medallion of Excellence, and the organizations womens signature event - A High Tea honoring LULAC Women of Distinction. Chris and Janey Appia were determined to make this recognition of women and their enormous contributions to LULAC a reality that was long overdue. When President Flores term at LULAC came to a close, she took advantage of an incredible opportunity to establish Hispanic marketing initiatives for GM in Texas. Chris - an eloquent speaker who possessed a vibrant personality, boundless energy, a quick wit, perseverance and determination set out to make it happen. Three months into her new career pathway, Chris suffered a stroke that would change the world she knew. Her quick wit was halted, her gift of gab was silenced for a while, her vibrant personality dimmed.but, with the support of loving family, a circle of friends, the medical staff at Baylor Dallas, rehabilitation therapists at South, speech therapists at The Callier for Speech and Communication Disorders at UT Dallas, and specifically, Lucinda Dean, and The First Presbyterian Church of Dallas.Chris came out of the dark into the light and worked through her challenges. She became very actively engaged at First Church. Chris attended Projects with Ann, Graciela and many others and helped make pillows and stuffed animals for hospitalized children; she attended the MM Class with Louise, Jane, and others; she attended Keenager trips and loved spending time with Debbie R. Young and Jay Evans; she volunteered binding books for the day school; she collected clothing and school supply essentials for the mission in Juarez, she attended Circle meetings; and most recently accepted the challenge of calling shut-ins in order to practice her communication skills. She enjoyed dinner dates with Peggy Leeman Ramirez and Johnny Ramirez; she loved a good party and salsa rhythms; travel, movies, books, and sharing recipes were some of her pastimes. Chris loved her three nephews - Raul III, Niko, and Jac more than words can express. were truly the greatest gifts in her life. She relished in their accomplishments; marveled in their growth as young men filled with dignity and conviction; she chronicled their rites of passage through photos, emails, cards, and texts;, she was the proud aunt who carried the brag book and would happily whip it out for all to see; and now, they will live in her heart eternally. If they feel a tug on an ear or a pinch on a check that will be Aunt Chris saying,Heeelllooo! How you doing? Chris is survived by her sisters, Michele and Elena; her nephews, Raul III, Niko, and Jac; a host of family and friends; dear neighbors, and her continued... |

Obituary: Aurora R. Bobadilla joined her husband in the Kingdom of Heaven on evening. Her passing came without warning. a birthday celebration with family and friends days ago, she spent her last day with her children enjoying lunch and a movie. Aurora lived her life to the fullest and cherished every moment! Her 2014 calendar was filled with upcoming events she planned on attending and invitations she had accepted. Aurora was a second generation Texan who came from very humble beginnings. Her parents were migrant farm workers; and as a result, much of her childhood was spent doing back breaking work in fields across the country. As a child, she experienced institutional racism when teachers changed her name to Dora Rogers because it was easier for them to pronounce. Although her family was poor, they were rich in many ways. were filled with the love and the pride instilled by her parents. Aurora was very adventurous! In the late 40's, her dogged determination convinced her father to let her travel to Mexico City to student French. While "studying", she met the love of her life on a blind date. Raul was a medical student at IPN. The rest is history. married, settled in Dallas, and enjoyed 59 years of marriage before his passing. Together, they raised four children - Chris, Michele, Elena, and Raul. Aurora was also the doting grandmother of three, as she liked to say, " the smartest and most handsome grandsons in the world." Her grandsons - Raul, Niko, and Jac filled her heart with boundless joy and happiness. Aurora lived a servant leader's life dedicated to God, her family, and her community. Mom always encouraged her children to reach for the stars. Nothing was impossible. Options were limitless. There were no boundaries except the one's you placed on yourself. She believed that if you could see it...you could be it. putting her children through school, she told my dad that he wanted to return to school herself. As a result of working in the fields as a child, she had not graduated from high school. So, in her fifties and with my dad's unwavering support, she embarked on a new journey. The pursuit of a college degree! getting her GED, she earned an Associate's Degree from El Centro . Mom then received scholarships to attend Texas Woman's University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Why stop there? She went on to earn a Master of Liberal Arts degree from Southern Methodist University. Along the way, she received countless academic honors and was inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society. She and my dad also received the Lifetime Award for their volunteerism in feeding the homeless at The Stewpot located at The First Presbyterian Church, Dallas. Her passion for education came full circle when she became a bilingual teacher in the Dallas ISD. Through her own life's journey, she knew that education would change the trajectory of her students' lives. She filled them with the love of learning and the confidence to pursue their dreams. From her humble beginnings, mom met and married the love of her life; raised her four children and relished in their achievements; adored her grandsons and was so proud of each of their accomplishments; traveled to Russia, Morocco, Spain, Mexico, and many other exotic places; earned her college degree; loved her God; and, enjoyed the love of extended family and dear friends. Mom, we will miss you more that words can express, but we are grateful that God gave you to us. We will miss your hugs and kisses, your notes of encouragement, your "dichos" that were meant to teach us a lesson, your soft hands slathering us with Vick's whenever we got sick, your bowl of homemade soup, and your warm breathe as you kissed our foreheads. Our hearts ache but we rejoice that you and dad are together again embraced and dancing to Amor, Amor, Amor. Thank you to our family and friends; our church; our pastor, Rev. Joe Clifford; our WWHS classmates; our colleagues; mom's doctors; neighbors; Mayor Rawlings; Minerva; Brenda; Yolanda; Amy; Debbie; Meriann; and each of you who helped make mom's life so rich and full. A Celebration of Life honoring Aurora R. Bobadilla will be held on 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at The First Presbyterian Church - Dallas, Sudie George Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Raul M. Bobadilla Scholarship Fund, The University of Texas at Arlington, Office of Development, 701 S. Nedderman Drive, Arlington, TX 76019. The scholarship funds supports students pursuing degrees in bilingual education. |
