Obituary: Dorothy Chapelow Carlson Blackburn, 88, born 21, 1915 joins her first husband, Leonard W. Carlson, mother and father Maria Magdalena Gerbig and Earnest C. Chapelow, sister Velma Chapelow Kasparek in the Heavenly Kingdom. As a fun-loving child in Lincoln, NE, Dorothy followed her sisterÂs example, collecting scholastic honors, attending the Lutheran Church, studying music, and attending family gatherings. She delighted in her Camp Fire group in her youth, attaining the rank of Torchbearer in the field of Campcraft. Her sorority, Phi Mu, provided her with an intense circle of friends from her college years throughout her golden years. She attended reunions of her Lincoln High graduating class, her Camp Fire group, and her college graduating class, as well as numerous Phi Mu conventions from 1956 to recent years. The skills and knowledge she gained at the University of Nebraska earning a B. S. in Business served her well in her work and as a volunteer. Following graduation Dorothy was employed by Bankers Life. During WWII she kept the Âhome fires burning for babies John and Carol until her husband Leonard returned from the Pacific theater. Next she worked beside her husband as secretary, clerical support, and office manager in his Fort Worth construction business, while supporting their childrenÂs educational and extracurricular activities and serving as a Phi Mu National officer. The arrival of grandchildren, one by one, brought new joys for Dorothy, for she treasured each oneÂs distinctive character, creating masterpieces of crochet for their pleasures. Upon her husbandÂs death in 1967 in San Antonio, Dorothy sought employment with the Bexar Chapter American Red Cross, first in the position of clerk, then as secretary to the Executive Director and Director of the Business Office. A single woman again, Dorothy enjoyed a rich life filled with work, family and friends, church, P.E.O., and Phi Mu activities both locally and nationally. In 1984 Robert M. Blackburn, past Executive Director of the Red Cross Chapter, proposed marriage. Eighteen years together were filled with travel, church, friends and family, and Nebraska football. Attacked by AlzheimerÂs disease, Dorothy went to live in Castroville where she would be close to her daughter through the frustration of mental confusion. Set free at last, she is greatly missed but well remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Rob Hardy; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Anne Carlson; her grandchildren, Cynthia Joseph, Creston Funk III, Robert Carlson, and Richard Carlson; great-grandchildren, Emily and Amber Carlson; brother-in-law, Everett Kasparek; nieces, Jane Pinnow, Janice Grumman, and Barbara Carlson; nephew, Jim Kasparek; several dear cousins, and her treasured friends. |

Obituary: David Bryan Blackburn, age 50, passed away 21, 2013 at his residence in Austin, Texas. He was born at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas on 25, 1962. David was an amazing man with a kind and gentle spirit who touched many peoples lives. His infectious laugh, sense of humor, compassion and ability to see the truth in any situation are just some of the attributes that his friends and family will carry forward. David considered all of his friends his family, spending many evenings on the back patio laughing and joking. These memories of love and laughter will continue to live on with everyone he knew. David received his Bachelor of Science degree in Administration from Kennedy-Western University. David worked as a Cash Application Manager at RC Billing. From 2008 to 2011, David and his partner Chuck owned Chucks Deli in Manchaca, TX. David spent each morning baking at the Deli before going to work. It is just one example of how hard working and dedicated he was in his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hedwig Hornisch; his brother, James Ricky Blackburn; and his stepsister Marla Flugraph. Survivors include his partner of 25 years Charles (Chuck) H. Wilkerson, Jr.; father James R. Blackburn; stepmother Margie Blackburn; brother Thomas G. Blackburn and sister-in-law Kim A. Blackburn; brother Timothy E. Blackburn and sister-in-law Laura Blackburn; sister Dolly Huff and brother-in-law Clinton Huff; stepbrother John Sanders; stepsister Terry Reed; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved dog and companion Stetson; and extended family who loved him very much. Visitation will be held , 25 at Weed-Corley-Fish , 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. services will be held , 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Shoreline Church, 15201 Burnet Road, Austin, TX. Graveside services will be held at noon on , 27 in Bishop, TX at Restland Memory Park. Pallbearers will be John Sanders, Josh Perry, BJ Scheible, Mark A. Obituary: Charley Robert Blackburn, 94, of Paris changed his earthly address to heaven on , 16, 2015 at Heritage House of Paris. A graveside service will be held, at 10:00 a.m. , 19, 2015 at Jamison Chapel , Clarksville, Texas, with Rev. Mike King officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Bright Holland has charge of the arrangements. Born 11, 1921, in Boswell, Ok, he was the son of Charley Robert Lee and Mandy Louise Blackburn. He and Ruby Pauline Weaver Hines were married May 11, 1944 in Clarksville, Texas. enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Mr. Blackburn was a retired minister and spent much of his life working as a lay minister in several churches in Odessa, Texas. His passion in life was leading others to Christ. retiring from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Odessa, he spent his free time visiting and ministering in hospitals and nursing homes until his health failed. Charley was also very proud of his military service and was a disabled veteran of World War II. Those left behind to mourn his loss and cherish his memory is a son, Danny Blackburn and wife, Carol of Moody, Texas; stepsons, Bob and Naomi Hines of Midlothian, Texas, and Doug and Pat Hines of Paris; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. Preceding Mr. Blackburn in death are his parents, his beloved wife, three sisters, two brothers, one grandchild and one great grandchild. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Burns, Dr. Richard Bercher, Heritage House nurses and caregivers, Cypress care, Paris Regional Medical nursing staff, Platinum Hospice and numerous others who were involved in the care of Mr. Blackburn during his extended illness. Obituary: Billy Blackburn, age 80 of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully 22, 2014. He is now forever healed and celebrating in heaven with his Savior Jesus Christ. The son of Charlie and Edna Blackburn, Billy was born 28, 1933, in Loris, South Carolina. The Blackburn family included eleven brothers and sisters. He is predeceased by Guy, Violet, Clio, Pauline, CV, Paul, Ida Mable, Gene and Jack, and is survived by his sisters, Estelle and Joanne. Following graduation from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, Billy enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country selflessly and honorably over a 20 year career, and fought in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Billy was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medals. Before retiring from the Army, Billy attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and was serving as an Army recruiter. Billy was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. retirement from the Army, Billy located to Allen, Texas. He put his people and entrepreneurial skills to use and built a successful remodeling business, B & C Builders. For over 20 years, Billy operated his business through hard work, determination, a cheerful good nature, charisma and love of people. Billy's greatest legacy is his unconditional love for his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, & grandfather known for his quick wit and fun loving personality. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Kay; his children Laurie, Cheryl, Mark, Neil, and Scott; Kay's children Troy, Garry and Kacey; as well as 17 beloved grandchildren that adored their "Poppy Bill" - Arty, Jonathan, Keith, Haley, Brady, Laura Lee, Lindsy, Lily, Ruth, Molly, Anna, Rumer, Kori, Kendel, Kennedy, Shawn and Ethan.
