Obituary: Jeannette Bernice Betz, 91 years old, of Frisco, Texas, (formerly of Little Silver, New Jersey) passed on 25 2015 in Frisco, Texas. Jeannette, daughter of Walter Edmond Fouvy and Ellen Veronica (Nellie) Kelly, was born on 22 Aug 1923 in Richmond , New York. She married Edward Lyon Betz on 21 Aug 1942 in New York City, New York, and was married for 58 years until Edwards passing. Jeannette is survived by her 8 children & their spouses: Edward & Linda Betz, Robert Betz & Susan Palmer, Jeffrey Betz, Timothy Betz, Barbara Betz, Beverly and Jon Kemp, Bonnie & Jon Gaskins, Jon Betz & Joyce Rioux. Also by her grandchildren: Dawn & Tom Daniel, Edward III & Kristina Betz, Grant Betz, Audrey Betz, Tim Leptich, Michael Leptich, Jeannette Leptich, Clark & Wendi Kemp, Christopher Kemp, Jennifer & Bryan Johnson, Erica & Chris Ellis, Allison & Duane Stine, Sarah Rioux, Jeannette Rioux Betz, Joey Rioux Betz. Great grandchildren: Taylor Daniel, Grant Daniel, Dylan Betz, Cordelia Betz, Alyssa Betz, Kadin Hughes, Malan Kemp, Margaret Kemp, Asher Johnson and Savannah Ellis. Jeannette was predeceased by husband Edward L. Betz, sisters Gladys Fouvy, Murial Cassidy, Dorothea Budd, Roland Fouvy, Walter Fouvy and daughter-in-law Mary Jane Betz. Jeannette was especially gifted in her ability in fund-raising for many organizations. She was involved in using her abilities to raise funds through the Little Silver P.T.A for schools, the Little Silver Womens Club for hospitals, for the American Heart Association, and the Association for Retarded Children. In her later years she used her abilities in fund-raising for missions as a member of the board of directors of BPCF (Bishop Prabhuda's Circle of Friends) through St. Phillips Episcopal Church and Christ Church. She was also very generous to friends and strangers alike. She seemed to have a song to sing for any occasion which arose. And you may have turned around to find a bright red ball on her nose if ever she felt there was a need to cheer someone up or to provide a lighter tone to situation. The printed word is too limited in scope to express the intimate joys and sorrows of each individual relationship with Jeannette and her children, family members and friends, so we each will hold those precious and cherished treasures in our hearts. It will have to suffice to say that Jeannette was loved and cherished by those who had the privilege to know her. Memorial service to be held on 12th 2015, 11:00 a.m. at St. Phillips Episcopal Church, 6400 Stonebrook Pkwy, Frisco, Texas 75034. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Phillips Episcopal Church designated for missions. |

Obituary: Singapore Sunset Arrerrdo was born in Bryan, Texas on May 26, 1978 to John & Gloria (Mendez) Arrerrdo. She was the middle child of three girls, who grew up in California. As a child, she was mischievous, always giving her sisters a hard time. This is how she showed her affection. Her mother says “she had a very strong character, from a young age, like her dad”. As a child, mom called her “china doll”, since she looked so oriental; dad called her “porky” since she was chubby. Most called her “Peggy”. She attended and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School Class of ’96 before moving back to Texas. Singapore was a young mother of three. She was very active in their activities; attending school programs, helping the teachers, coloring with the kids or being artsy and craftsy. She would do her hair and nails occasionally, or write poetry, but she loved to read. She enjoyed murder mysteries, and could read anywhere and everywhere. She told her sister once that she loved the way books smell, and occasionally you’d find her napping with a book opened and over her face, as if she fell asleep to the scent. She liked action movies, or t.v. shows such as Criminal Minds & NCIS. She liked to listen to rap music, or hip hop, but her favorite artist was Eminem. On occasion, she enjoyed listening to traditional Mexican Mariachi music. Singapore especially enjoyed attending her sons’ football games. Singapore loved football; her favorite team was the Miami Dolphins. She was her children’s biggest cheerleader at their games, cheering them on, and coaching too. She wasn’t the coach, or assistant coach, but she was going to coach the kids from the sidelines. This is also how she met her husband, Phillip Betts. Phillip was a coach for one of her son’s teams in the Mesquite football league. It was her son, Jacob, who brought the two together. On their first date, Jacob, 12 years old at the time, being protective of his mother, decided to chaperone. dated for about six months before deciding to marry in Dallas. She accepted his children as if they were her own, with nothing but love. Phillip adores Peggy, and his love for her will remain until they reunite again. Singapore has a very special name, to match her unique personality. Her dad was serving in Okinawa at the time of their second child, and “Singapore” was a popular drink among the military personnel. Her mother had been thinking about a middle name, either Sunrise or Sunset. When her second daughter came into this world, it was early evening; Her mom says that she chose her own middle name, “Sunset”. Singapore was very loyal to her family. Even if they were in disagreement over something, she’d still have their back. She was very direct and outspoken, would tell you what was on her mind, even if you didn’t ask. Though she did tell it like it was, one thing she did well was hide her pain. If she was hurting, she’d never complain; she refused to burden others with it. She’d just keep it to herself and keep smiling. She was very generous, caring, loving and always thought of others. She was also very strong-willed, stubborn and determined. This is what made her the fighter, the warrior she was throughout her long battle with cancer. She was always encouraging and hopeful, and refused to allow this illness to define her. She wasn’t afraid of anything, this courage kept her going. This was our Singapore, our Peggy. On , 8, 2014, Singapore Sunset Betts was called to meet her Maker. She was greeted in Heaven by her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Arrerrdos & Mr. & Mrs. Mendez; father-in-law Coleman L. Betts; brother-in-law Mitchell Betts; sister-in-law Pamela Betts; her aunt Mary Barnes; Uncle Tony Gonzalez; aunt Susan Tobar; and uncle Jesse Mendez. Her life will continue to be remembered and celebrated by her parents: John & Gloria Arrerrdo; children: David John Tinajaro, Jacob Isaac Ortega, Adrian Cain Ortega, David Perez & his wife Rosie, Coleman “CD” Betts & his wife Amada, Angela Richardson, Hannah Mullis; 6 grandchildren; her sisters: Lory & her husband Kevin “KP” Porter, and Christina Mills; her sisters-in-law: Doris D. Betts & Lori Burns; mother-in-law Doris Ruth Betts; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and close friends. The family would like to thank those who came and gave Singapore the loving care she deserved; Gloria, Phillip, Lory & Linda. Though she is no longer here physically, we know she is at peace now, and is a guiding force from the stars above, smiling and watching over us. |
