Obituary: Dorothy Nellie McMullen Benner, known to many as Dottie, 93, of Houston, Texas, passed from this life on 28, 2016. She was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on 24, 1923, a coal miners daughter. Dorothy graduated from Bolivar High School in Bolivar, Pennsylvania, then went on to join the womens branch of the United States Naval Reserve (the WAVES) where she served until the end of WWII. her military service with an honorable discharge she went to court reporting school in Washington, D.C. This marked the beginning of her career as a legal secretary. She continued work in civil service with her employment at the National Labor Relations Board until her retirement in 1983. She was granted numerous awards during her employment at the NLRB including a Sustained Superior Performance Award. She was a member of Toastmasters International for many years where she won numerous contests for her speeches. She also had a passion for writing spiritual writings and poetry. Dorothy had a great compassion for animals. She gave support to the SPCA. She was also a vegan-vegetarian for 25+ years. She felt that food was natures medicine and often refused to take her medications. She was married to Kenneth Leroy Benner for eight years. He was from Texas where she lived for sixty years. She is survived by her son Wayne Kenneth Benner and daughter Pauline Benner Cooper and husband Rocky Cooper, and three adopted grandchildren Stephen, Ashley and Adrian Cooper. She is also survived by half sister Helen Eamigh, and half-brothers Michael McMullen, Clifford McMullen, and William McMullen from her home state of Pennsylvania. Pre-deceasing Dorothy are her father Clair Henry McMullen; mother Zelma Louise Fulcomer; brother, Dan McMullen, half sister Mary Ann Fulcomer, and half sister Susan Hull from Pennsylvania. A celebration of life will be held at American Heritage , 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston Texas 77038, at 11:30 a.m. followed by a committal service at the Houston National . In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of Dorothys compassion for animals, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to The Houston SPCA. |

Obituary: Tony Benner passed away on 11, 2015 at home surrounded by his adoring family, due to complications from pancreatic cancer. He was born on 28, 1945 to George and Edna Benner on the family farm outside of Fowler, Indiana. He was the sixth of 14 children. He graduated from Freeland Park High School in 1963. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and proudly served his country until 1975, including one tour in VietNam and one in Germany. On May 31, 1969 he married the love of his life, Sandy McCauley, after a whirlwind courtship in San Angelo Texas. leaving the Air Force in 1975, his family moved to Austin Texas where he lived and worked until in death. While helping to raise his five daughters and working, he attended college at Park University from which graduated from in 1993. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Sandra (Sandy) Benner, daughters Beth and husband Jeff Bryars, Shawn and husband Charlie Brents, Nannette and husband Dale Anderson, Robin and husband Jeremy Sheard and Jocelyn Benner. He had 11 grandchildren, 10 grandsons and one granddaughter, Eddie and wife Faith, Anthony and Ian Brents, Andrew and Avery Bryars, Xavier, Micah and Ava Anderson and Hayden, Tristen and Masen Sheard. He was also awaiting the arrival of his first great grandchild. He is also survived by four brothers, six sisters, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Edna Benner, In-Laws Lomax and Lois McCauley, brothers Richard (Dick) Benner, Charles (Charlie) Benner and Edward Benner and two nephews. Visitation and Rosary will be held at Cook Walden on North Lamar, Austin, Texas on , 15, 2015 starting at 6:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 pm on , 16, 2015 at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, Austin, Texas. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 pm , 17, 2015 at Fort Sam Houston National in San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to a pancreatic cancer research fund of your choice. We would like to thank the many friends and family who have shown their love and support over the last two years. We would also like to thank Hospice Austin for taking wonderful care of our Superman. He will be greatly missed. |

Obituary: Texarkana, TX- W.H. Bennefield, age 67 passed away , 22, 2009. He was born 15, 1942 in Timpson, TX. W.H. loved hunting and fishing and working in his shop. He could build anything out of wood or metal and retired from TISD as the wood shop instructor. But most of all he was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. Mr. Bennefield is survived by three sons: Ronnie and wife Robin; Steve; Brian and wife Robin, nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers Charles Ray and Junior; three sisters, Ludie Eva Harris; Virginia Ann Burkhalter; Lee Young; and many friends. A memorial service will be held , 5th 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at East , 2807 Moores Lane, Texarkana, TX 75503.
