Obituary: Jessie Benavides, age 92, of Taylor passed away 17, 2016. Jessie was born 15, 1924 to Maria Jesus and Margarito Benavides. In 1943 Benavides had the distinction of participating in the military action in the Third Army under General George Smith Patton. Benavides marched with Patton through Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. By the time the war was over he was in Czechoslovakia. Benavides received commendations for overseas combat, good conduct, and serving in active duty. In addition to the Europe-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze stars. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nieves, whom he was married to for 35 years. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. His caregivers were his niece, Maria and husband Daniel Salazar of Taylor, and his grandson, Jessie Soliz and wife Sharon of Elgin. We would like to thank Mr. Benavides for serving our country. Visitation will be held on 22, 2016 from 6pm-8pm at Condra with a Rosary at 7pm. Mass will be held on 23, 2016 at 10 am at St. Marys Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Marys . under the direction of Condra , Taylor, TX. |

Obituary: On 26, 2014, Michael Lewin Benatar, 63, regained his wings after a forty-two year battle with diabetes. Born in Rhodesia, Africa, Michael immigrated to the United States in 1980. A beloved father, grandfather, best friend, brother and uncle, he is preceded in death by his father Solomon Benatar, mother Margaret Lewin and stepdad John Lewin. He is survived by daughters Michelle Hogan and Monique Benatar; son-in-law Daniel Hogan, grandchildren, Austin and Abby Hogan, and lifelong best friend and mother of his girls, Tiki Pearce. He is also survived by siblings Deb Lewin, Tammy Williams, Rob and Joy Lewin, Owen Benatar, Fleur Whitten, Tony Benatar, Mandy Labuschagne, Samantha Price, Trevor Lewin, Stanley Lewin, Derick Benatar, and Grant Benatar, as well as extended family and friends across the world. A respected and influential member of the Dallas video industry for over thirty years, he was instrumental in helping launch many successful video careers. He will be loved and greatly missed by family and friends and those whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on , 6, 2014 at the Sparkman located at 1029 S. Obituary: Shirley Carolyn Benardino passed from this life to eternity with Christ her Savior on , 19th, 2015. She was born on May 10th, 1926 to Lewis Eugene and Mattie Eva Smith in Huntsville, Texas, the youngest of their seven children. She lost her father at an early age, leaving her mother alone to raise and provide for the family through some of the most challenging years this country has ever known. Her mothers faith, fortitude and sacrifice set the standard for Shirley and created a legacy that she not only exemplified in her own life and example, but conveyed to her children as well. She married William J. (Bill) Benardino on 3rd, 1947, and he preceded her in death on 10th, 1999. During 52 years of marriage, they raised their own family of five in Conroe: Susan (Peterson), Anthony, Brett, Nancy (Thorne) and Jennifer (Kirk). Besides her children, she is also survived by sons-in-law Bob Peterson, Lewis Thorne and Zach Kirk, and daughter-in-law Penelope Benardino. She is survived as well by her grandchildren Bryan Peterson (Marisa), Michelle McIntosh (Wes), Haley McBride (Chace), Ben Benardino, Joe Benardino, Matt Thorne (Brittney), Katie Gaultney (Brad), Brett Thorne, Jenna Kirk, Cassie Kirk, Jared Kirk, a host of great grandchildren and her best canine buddy Dallas. She is also survived by Bills nieces and nephews and their families, Joe Hardy, Debbie Piland, Kerry Hardy, Trina Hardy and Melissa Hardy. She is survived as well by her two nieces and their families, Donna Gail Leach and Kathy Tipps. She is also survived by numerous friends. Her legacy lives on in all our hearts as we remember Grandmamas love and sacrifice for others. The various roles she fulfilled, many simultaneously, include sibling, wife, daughter-in-law, mother, legal professional, grandmother, neighbor, friend and counselor. She lived these roles with grace, courage and dignity. Her life is a testament to the truth of I Corinthians 13:13.And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Those of us who survive Shirley miss her greatly, but we rejoice even greater still that her pain and weakness are defeated and she is with her Lord forever and the reunions with loved ones are only just now beginning. Family will receive friends on , 22, from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral will be at 12:30 on , 23 in the Cashner's Colonial Chapel in Conroe, Texas, with Pastor Dave Stovall officiating. Obituary: On 1, 1933, Wilford Benard, Jr. was sent by God as a blessing to the late Wilford Benard, Sr. and Goldie Marie Patterson in Port Arthur, Texas. Wilford graduated from Lincoln High School on May 31, 1950 and then went on to pursue his love of music at Huston-Tillotson in Austin, Texas. While enrolled at Tillotson, he crossed the burning sands on 10, 1951 to become a brother in the Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi. He graduated from Huston-Tillotson on May 31, 1954. Wilford was drafted into the Army and stationed in Germany where he met Christa Elisabeth Heckel and later married her on 4, 1957 in Stuttgart, Germany. Wilford, Christmas and their son Rainer travelled to the United States on the USS Upshaw in 1959 and arrived in New York City. In Fort McArthur, California, his daughters Michele and Marcette were born and their family of five then began their lives overseas beginning in Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico where he was a member of the United States Army Band. The family then moved to the Panama Canal Zone where Wilford was part of the 79th Army Band at Ft. Clayton and Ft. Amador. Wilford spent his entire military career performing all around the world spreading his love of music and representing the United States as an ambassador of sound. Wilford and Christa never allowed others prejudices to discourage them and as the strong family leader he ensured everyone maintained positive attitudes and learned the importance of treating everyone equally. Feeling strongly that education would unlock the doors of discrimination for his children and grandchildren, Wilford Benard, Jr. always served as a role model by earning his masters degree from Tillotson as well as several other degrees from St. Phillips and San Antonio . On 6, 2016, God called Wilford Benard, Jr. from earth to glory to join Him. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilford Benard, Sr. and Goldie Benard; his loving wife of almost 58 years, Christa Benard; and his son, Rainer Benard. He leaves to preserve his memories and celebrate his coming: daughters Michele (Glen) Warren of Warner Robins, GA; Marcette (Rex) Kilgore of Webster, Texas; grandchildren Shaunte Davis of San Antonio, TX; Matrex (Amber) Kilgore of Austin, TX; Raquel (Isiah) Clements stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, NM; Morgan Kilgore of Austin, TX; great grandson Eljae Gomez; first cousins Aaron Van Wright, Jr., Goldie Vital, Emma Ruth Hill, Tommy Clark, Carolyn Landry and a host of devoted nieces, cousins, family and friends.
