Obituary: Paula Fae Beatty, 87, of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord , 2, 2015, at 8:30 p.m.She was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Crowell, Texas, to Charles and Mattie Beatty.Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. Beatty and Mattie Lou Woolley; brother Jack Beatty; and sister Charlene Beatty.Paula is survived by her younger brother, Larry Beatty; her nieces, Diana Scarbrough and husband Brian of San Angelo, Debra Harris and husband Tony of San Angelo and Tonie Heflin and family of Big Lake. She is also survived by three nephews, Paul Beatty and wife Brenda of Wall, Charlie Beatty and family of Wall, Michael Beatty of Louisiana, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.Paula retired from the San Angelo State School.Although Paula never had any children of her own she always had a special motherly place in her heart for her nieces and nephews and loved them like her own. Paula loved riding horses, shooting guns, and loved hanging out with her brother and family.Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. , 7, 2015, at Johnson's . Obituary: BETH BEATTY 29, 1936 - 16, 2015 Beloved wife and mother Margaret Elizabeth (Beth) van Maanen Beatty passed away on , 16, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born 29, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Elizabeth McDowell van Maanen and Herman G. van Maanen. She graduated Highland Park High School in Dallas and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, graduating in 1958 with a B.A. in Spanish/Business. She was Chapter President of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity and was hired as a Graduate Counselor for the chapter at Rollins in Florida the year following her graduation. She continued to serve Pi Phi both locally and at the national level throughout her life. She was a founding member of the Bay Area Alumnae club and an active member of the San Antonio Alumnae club. She was a member of the Fraternitys Grand Council from 1989 - 2001, serving as Grand President 1995 - 2001. Beth loved working with college women at chapters across the nation, and after her retirement she hosted a Bible study group for Trinity women students in her home. She was always active in the life of the Church as a Bible student and teacher, an ordained elder and a loving, caring intercessor. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jane Pratt of Lafayette, LA. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Beatty; daughter, Liz Beatty; daughter, Beverly Nester and husband Shannon Nester; and grandchildren, Morgan and Luke Nester. Obituary: LTC Ret. Earl L. Beatty, age 72, passed away on 25, 2005 in Houston, TX of complications from lung transplant surgery. Born on 23, 1932 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Earl proudly served 30 years in the military before retiring in San Antonio in 1979. His last duty station was Ft. Sam Houston where he served as the postÂs Public Affairs Officer. Raised in the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado, Earl married Linda Ann Grimwood on 4, 1953 in Taos, NM. met while attending Adams State in Alamosa, CO. Earl spent several years with Boeing in Wichita, KS and Ford Motor in Kansas City before going active duty in 1961. He loved his country and the Army and, other than providing his loving family a wonderful life, EarlÂs biggest achievement was his remarkable military service. He graduated from St. Benedicts in Atchison, Kansas in 1967 with a BS in business administration and pursued his military career with a passion. Highlighted by three tours in Vietnam and numerous duty stations in the U.S. and Europe, Earl was a highly decorated officer serving his country with dignity, honesty and integrity. Earl was well known for his charisma, quick wit, and big heart. He loved to laugh and enjoyed his retirement years traveling with his wife, Linda, in their motor home, taking exotic cruises to far off places, and spending time with his family. With EarlÂs passing, a huge void will be left in the hearts of all who knew him. In addition to Linda Beatty, his loving wife of 52 years, Earl is survived by his oldest son, Charles; his second son, Mark and wife, Carol; his only daughter, Tamara Brown and husband, Norman. Obituary: Eva Marie Thompson Beatty longtime resident of Lincoln, NE passed away from natural causes in her sleep on 17, 2015 at home in Allen, TX. She was able to enjoy one last bowl of her favorite vanilla ice cream earlier that night. Eva was born 11, 1915 in Memphis, NE and this past achieved her goal of living to 100 years of age. Eva lived most of her first 82 years in Nebraska, primarily Lincoln. She grew up on the family farm near Ashland with her mother, father and 2 older brothers. She was the rambunctious one of the 3 children. Eva moved to Lincoln during high school in the midst of the great depression graduating from Lincoln High. her father was stricken by a series of strokes Eva helped her mother run a boarding house throughout the 1930's. She was married in 1942 during World War II, with the tough times the couple had to have their honeymoon suite be the attic bedroom of Eva's mother-in-law. She and her husband Elmer were longtime employees of Barkers Shoes on O St in Lincoln where he was manager. You couldn't leave Barkers with new shoes without buying a matching purse and hose from Eva. Eva was always very stylish and loved to shop, she would have her hair and nails done each week. In 1997 Eva moved to Mississippi and later Texas to be near her daughter Sherry, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known by her grandma nickname Gea, she had a wide variety of interests. Always starting the day with a good cup of coffee, she adored her Yorkie, Elvis and loved her rose garden and growing strawberries and tomatoes. She and Elmer would host and attend parties as well as cut a rug out dancing to Big Band and Swing music at the Elks Club. In bridge club and with her husband as partner she was quite the card player. Eva liked a little wager so her card playing was also done from time to time in casinos, and she would visit the track for the horse races. Eva said she wasn't much of a sports fan until she was married, but she decided she would become one to spend more time with her husband. spent many nights together at the car races around middle America, and you couldn't find a bigger fan than Eva of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, especially the football team. Eva always had the best time with family. Being with cousins and immediate family was always a joy to her and if it also included going out to eat her day was made. A good margarita was a great way to start a trip to a restaurant with a sweet treat for dessert at the end. Preceded in death by parents John and Queen Bess Thompson; brothers Ross and Russell Thompson; husband of 61 years Elmer E Beatty; daughter Sherry E Cotton; son-in-law Jerry Cotton. Survived by grandson Craig Cotton and granddaughter-in-law Tobye Cotton of Allen TX; granddaughters Cathy Cotton and Lana Cotton of Brandon MS and 7 great-grand-children, Zachary Cotton of Brandon MS; Michael, Molly, Daniel, Gabriel and Julia Cotton of Allen TX ; Alex Cotton of Brandon MS and a host of cousins and nieces throughout the U.S. The family would like to give special thanks to caregiver Sharon Roessler for taking such loving care of Gea.
