Rosary service will be at 3:30 P.M., , 24, 2014 at Bratcher with Deacon Gary Vogel officiating. Family visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:30 to 8:30 PM, , 24, 2014 at Bratcher . service will be 10:00 AM, , 25, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Denison, TX with Father Mocio officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park , Sherman, TX. Waltraude was born, 23, 1924 in Lanškroun, Czech Republic to Leo M. Wierzbicki and Hermina Cada. She was a member of the Lewisville Chapter 935 order of the Eastern Star and St. Patricks Catholic Church. She immigrated to the US in 1938, became a citizen in 1943.She married Magnus J. Bayer in 1944 in N.Y.C. Waltraude retired from 30 years service with American Airline/Sky Chef at JFK airport in N.Y. in 1984. She enjoyed travel both overseas and within the U.S. She was a supporter of the Dallas Wind Symphony and arts programs. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Magnus J. Bayer. She is survived by daughters; Carol Figueroa of The Colony, TX, Wendy Grogan and husband Robert of Lynbrook, New York, brothers; Rudolf Cada and wife Ala of Schnaittenbach, Germany, Helmut Cada and wife Helene of Friedberg, Germany, four grandchildren; James P. Grogan, Robert D. Grogan, Jr., Gavin J. Grogan, Lynn S. Figueroa-Spence and husband John H. Spence and one great grandchild Cheyenne L. Spence. Obituary: ARLINGTON -- Joan Theresa Bayer passed peacefully at home on , Jan 6, 2016. : 11 a.m. , Jan. 15, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church with her grandson, Fr. John (Paul Bayer), presiding. Rosary: 10:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions are gratefully received at Cistercian Abby, 3550 Cistercian Road, Irving, Texas 75039. Joan was born on May 30, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pa., to James and Margaret Woodward. In 1955 Joan and Richard J Bayer were married by her uncle, Rev. John Murphy. moved to Arlington in 1962 at which time they became members of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Joan was a devoted wife and mother. She also taught kindergarten at Immaculate Conception School, Grand Prairie. Survivors: She is survived by Richard, her beloved husband of 60 years; children, Dr. Richard C Bayer and wife, Kate, Joan and husband, James Swann, Mary and husband, Nick Garefalos Jr.; grandchildren, Sara, Chris and wife Melissa, Paul, Nicole, Martin and wife Chelsea, Donald, Lexi; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, James L Woodward. |
