Obituary: Colonel Elizabeth Ruth Bates, USAF, Retired 18, 1941 - 30, 2010 Elizabeth Ruth Bates was born on Sept. 18, 1941 in Kansas City, MO. Her father was Ronald Allen Bates and her mother was Helen Mae Sills Bates. She is survived by her life partner of many years, Mylene Hall of Houston, Texas; her brother Richard Allen Bates and sister-in-law Elaine Kahler Bates of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by her nephew Andrew Bates Cottonwood, Washington state; her dearest lifetime friend, Carol Craft and family from St. Louis, MO; her godsons, Joseph Craft, M.D. and Daemon Talton. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Pastor Eugene Field Bates. Bette graduated from Westport High School, Kansas City, Missouri. She then attended St. Marys Hospital School of , Kansas City, Missouri from 1959-1962, and then she entered the religious order of the Sisters of St. Mary Third Order of St. Francis, St. Louis, Missouri from 1962-1970, where she took the name of Sister Mary Ronald. She attended St. Louis University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in in 1968. In of 1971, she was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Air Force Reserves. She was assigned to the 73rd AES of Scott Air Force Base in Bellville, Illinois from 1971-1986. From 1973-1975 she attended Barnes Hospital School of Anesthesia and graduated with her CRNA in Jan. of 1975. Colonel Bates was a Chief Flight nurse, Flight Nurse Instructor and Flight Nurse Examiner on the C9A. This was the Air Force Reserves only Medivac in the world. Colonel bates flew over 2000 hours in 15 years. She received her Chief Flight Nurse wings, and then was awarded the Air Force Accommodation medal. In addition she was promoted to Colonel. In of 1986 she was transferred to the 11th contingency hospital, Willford Hall Medical in San Antonio, Texas. She served as the Assistant Chief Nurse and then Chief Nurse from 1986-1996. 8, 1990 was the last day of her 19 years as an Air Force Reservist. She was called to active duty during Desert Shield/Desert Storm and she served at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, New Mexico as a CRNA, nurse anesthetist. From 1978-1980 she attended Webster University and earned her Masters degree in Human Relations. a full career of nursing, anesthesia and 30 years in the Air Force, she retired in 2005 to enjoy her passions in life including gardening, birding, fishing and the solitude of the beach, wonderful friends, great travels, and a lifetime of great memories. Obituary: Eddie Vernon Bates, 62 of Wichita Falls, passed away on , 2, 2010 at his residence. He was born on 26, 1947 in Abilene, TX to the late Edgar L. Bates and Frances Jackson Bates. On 4, 1990 he married Linda Carol Laurence in Lawton, OK. He was a retired maintenance worker for the Texas Highway Department. Mr. Bates was very active in his childrens lives, coaching many of their sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Linda Bates of Wichita Falls; two sons, Shane Bates and wife Paula and Shawn Bates all of Wichita Falls; two step children, Jason Scroggins of Wichita Falls and Dayne Moody of Germany; mother, Frances Bates of Wichita Falls; two grandchildren, Haley and Savanna. Obituary: Dorothy Ann Bates died , 19, 2015, at her home in Horseshoe Bay, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born 30, 1922, in Dallas, Texas to us Scott and Edna Cannon Blessing. She attended Vickery Place Elementary School and graduated from North Dallas High School. She was a member of Munger Place Methodist Church, where she met Clary Bates, the love of her life. were married on 21, 1943, after a three-year courtship during which time Clary attended medical school at UTMB in Galveston Texas. Dorothy attended the University of Texas and transferred to UTMB, working as a lab technician in the blood chemistry department at John Sealy Hospital. Dorothy and Clary settled in Austin, Texas, with their three sons, Ben, Jarrett and Bruce. Dorothys life was busy, raising three boys, doing volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, Settlement Club, Travis Medical Society Auxiliary, Austin State School, Junior Helping Hands, and was a founding member of her investment club, the Profiteers. She was an accomplished duplicate bridge player and continued this activity for many years. Dorothy was known by all to be a wonderful cook. A meal at Dorothys table was always the high point of any family gathering. Her hospitable and caring nature warmed and enriched the lives of those around her. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Dr. Clary Bates; her three sons and their wives: Ben and Paula Bates of Ruidoso, Jarrett and Sharon Bates of Horseshoe Bay, and Bruce and Mary Jo Bates of Temple. Also surviving her are her grandchildren: Jeff Bates (Karyn), Shan Bates- Bundick (Jacob), Ryan Bates (Courtney), Grant Bates (Michelle), Andy Bates, Jamie Bates Deady (Marty) and Jacob Bates (Carleigh). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Cannon, Clary, Samuel, Caroline, Conor, Addy and Emma. The family wishes to express their gratitude to her loving care-giver, Susan Johnson. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., , 22 at the Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge, Horseshoe Bay. Obituary: Donna Lee Bates was born on 9, 1950 to Albert and Lena Sager in Paramus, NJ. She attended Riverdale High school in 1968 and was going to flight steward school after graduation. She married the love of her life, Bill Bates on 27, 1969 and soon had two boys. Brian and Matthew loved to fish and hunt with their Grandfather growing up, but both boys loved their mother dearly and she was very involved with their sports activities and education. Always willing to share her love and help anyone in need, Donna was devoted to her family and always made sure they were happy. She enjoyed interacting with friends and neighbors, so her joy was in Marketing but gardening was her most favorite hobby.
