Obituary: Charles Owen Charlie Bartley passed away on , 12, 2015 in Brenham. He was born on 25, 1920 in Houston, Texas, the only child of Georgia Lewis Bartley and Collie Owen Bartley. He graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston in 1938 and entered Rice Institute that same year. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rice in 1942 and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the United States Navy in 1943, serving as an instructor at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland during the remainder of World War II. He was honorably discharged from active service on 21, 1946 and served in the US Naval Reserve until of 1955. Charlie was married to Bobbie Eagleston Bartley in the small chapel at the US Naval Academy on 22, 1943 and they took up residence in Annapolis, Maryland where their first son, Richard Eagleston Bartley, was born on 12, 1944. At the end of the war Charlie, Bobbie and Richard returned to Houston where their second son, Thomas Edward Bartley, was born on 23, 1951. Charlie and Bobbie raised their sons in Houston, moving to Panorama Village in the early 1970s, where they lived until Bobbie passed away in 2001, after almost 58 years of marriage. Charlie worked for Mission Manufacturing in various capacities from the end of the war until the early 1970s, retiring as Vice-President. Approximately one year after entering retirement, he came out of retirement to take the position of President of Houston Engineers, a position he held for a few years before retiring once again. He was a member of Pines Presbyterian Church in Houston and the First Presbyterian Church in Conroe. He was active in a number of charitable organizations during his life, first among them the United Way. In 2002 Charlie was married to Nan Mealy Bartley of Conroe. Nans family wishes to express their love for Charlie, that they greatly enjoyed his company and deeply appreciated his faithful, selfless care for Nan. In their words, he was a Godsend to Nan and to our whole family. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bobbie. He is survived by Nan Mealy Bartley, his son Richard and his wife, Gerri Huseman Bartley, his son Tom and his wife, Debbie Bartley, grandchildren: Bret Moss Bartley and wife, Michelle Flannagan Bartley, Charles Ross Bartley and wife, Jessica Willey Bartley, Jennifer Bartley Wood and husband, William H. Wood, Rutherford Cravens Bartley, Margaret Anne Bartley, Charles Edward Bartley, Amber Nicole Wisnieske and Henry Jerome Kmiec, Jr., great grandchildren: Katelyn Bartley, Morgan Bartley, Charlie Bartley, Bryn Bartley, Bobbie Bartley and J. R. Wood, and nieces and nephews: Margaret Ann Thetford, Warren Thetford, Anne Thetford and Catharine Thetford. - Charlie was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a talented, gentle and generous man who touched the lives of many for the good. He is and will be greatly missed. |

Obituary: A much loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Bruce Bartley was received into the arms of his loving Savior on 1, 2014 at 82 years old peacefully at his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Bruce was born on 7, 1932 in Faribault, Minnesota to Frances and George Bartley. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1948 at the age of 16. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Navy receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1956. In 1964, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree. At the University, Bruce was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Fraternity and Eta Kappa Nu Association. That same year, Bruce began working for Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas as a program manager in their highly classified radar system projects. ten years, Bruce left Texas Instruments to start his own business, Texas Film Cassette . Over time the company evolved into a very successful video game vending business. In 2008, Bruce sold his business and retired. Bruce was very proficient at math and often tutored his grandchildren through middle school, high school and their university courses. He loved using his math skills at the black jack and poker tables in Las Vegas with great success. More than anything, Bruce loved his family. He was a loving husband and committed father and grandfather. He was very dedicated to his grandchildren and was always their biggest fan at all their sporting events, school and church events. He was a generous person who loved helping his family and traveling with them on vacations. Bruce is survived by his wife of 63 years Jewell Bartley; his daughter Brenda Pertle and husband Dennis; son Blane Bartley and wife Karen; daughter Babette Murashige and husband Dave; granddaughter Morgan Pogoloff and husband Seth; grandson Blake Bartley and granddaughters Amanda Murashige, Braeden Bartley and Camille Murashige. He is preceded in death by his mother Frances, father George and brothers Earl and Bill. Many heavy hearts are grieving the loss of this gifted and loving man. Bruce has touched many lives and will be missed by his family and friends. A memorial service is scheduled for , 15th at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at St. Andrew United Methodist Church 5801 W. Plano Parkway in Plano, with a reception to follow. A military inurnment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National , 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas. The family has requested donations to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org, The American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org, The National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org or a charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.
