Obituary: A graveside service will be held for Dr. Stewart Sutherland Barron, MD, 93, of Nacogdoches, Texas at 11:00 AM on 4, 2015 at Oak Grove . Dr. Barron passed away peacefully at his home on 1, 2015. Stewart, a first generation American, was born in Flint, Michigan, on May 17, 1921, to George Barron and Kate Ann Webster Clark Barron who met and married in the United States after they emigrated from Scotland in the early 1900s. Stewart graduated from high school in 1939, and matriculated at Wheaton , Wheaton, Illinois, that fall. He received a bachelors degree in business from the college in 1943. Before completing his undergraduate studies, Stewart enlisted in the United States Navy in of 1942. He was sent for training to service schools including the Supply Corps School at Harvard University (Boston, Massachusetts) and the USN Midshipman School at Columbia University (New York, New York), and was commissioned in 1943. While in the armed forces, Stewart was a supply and disbursing officer with LSM Group 20 in the Pacific Theatre. He earned the rank of Lieutenant (JG) and was honorably discharged in 1951. To further his education, Stewart took premedical courses at Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, and applied to medical school. He was accepted by Southwestern Medical School of the University of Texas in Dallas and was among the first classes to graduate from this new medical school formed during the middle of World War II. graduation from medical school in 1953, Dr. Barron was licensed by the Texas Medical Board and completed an internship and residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He held a specialty certification in ophthalmology issued by American Board of Ophthalmology in 1959 and practiced in Dallas prior to establishing the first ophthalmology practice in Nacogdoches in 1967. He had hospital privileges at Memorial Hospital and retired from active practice in 1980. Dr. Barron is survived by his niece - Barbara Ann Smith Michael, JD, MS, of Houston, Texas; nephews - Dwight Gordon Smith of Vestal, New York; Henry M. Middlebrook of Nacogdoches, Texas; Tom A. Middlebrook, MD, of Nacogdoches, Texas; and George F. Middlebrook III of Nacogdoches, Texas; and stepdaughter Cathy Feild Hicks of Kirby, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Catherine Baxter Barron Smith; his first wife, Hollis Jean Mast Barron; and his second wife, Carlene Feild Barron. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 411 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961, where Dr. Barron was a member, or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Cathy Stripling, Cathy Colwell, Jennifer Gray, Michael Masten, Delyla Frederick, and Karla Avila for their wonderful care for him over the past several years. Uncle Stewart will always be remembered for his love, concern, and support for his extended family, mild demeanor, and subtle humor, as well as, golfing at the Piney Woods Country Club Nacogdoches, accompanied by one of his dachshunds riding on the golf cart. |

Obituary: Ronald (Ronnie) Lee Barron Sr., age 65, was called home by our Lord on 12, 2017. He was born on 21, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to Ismael and Alice Tenorio Barron. Ronnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, educator and coach who will be dearly missed. He was a proud Knight of Holy Cross High School Class of 1970 and soon after graduation, served his country for three years in the U.S. Coast Guard. Upon completion of his service, he pursued a passion for teaching and coaching sports, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary's University in 1976. For 34 years, Ronnie impacted young lives daily at Sam Houston, McCollum and Edison High Schools. He spent countless hours in the classroom teaching his all-time favorite, 'Romeo and Juliet', writing lesson plans, preparing for the next sporting event and he left priceless memories on the field. More importantly, he instilled his love of the game, winning, sportsmanship and character-building to many young men and women working towards their educational and athletic goals. Ronnie was a strong-willed, opinionated man with a tender heart and sentimental side who loved his family and friends deeply. His heart was truly bigger than he was, and even bigger than he let on to those who knew him. Ronnie had a love for sports and a passion for music and he will affectionately be remembered as a little bit Rock 'n Roll and a little bit Country. He also loved his Cowboys, Spurs and Astros, but most of all, he loved his family. He took joy in making us laugh with his catch phrases and always gave the strongest, most genuine hugs. We will carry these memories of Ronnie in our hearts, until we meet again. Ronnie is preceded in death by his father, Ismael, whom he missed dearly and is now home reunited in his arms. He is survived by his mother, Alice Tenorio Barron, his beloved wife of 27 years, Yolanda Barron, his sons Ronald Lee Barron, Jr. (Lynn), Brandon Lee Barron, Phillip Luna (Blanca), his sister Cynthia Barron Gongora, his brothers Christopher Barron (Anna), and Joseph Barron (Diana). Ronnie cherished his extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and always maintained an open door and heart to Teresa Barron and Amy Barron. He was a proud grandfather of 8 (Hannah, Ethan, Clayton, Sonny, Noah, Violet, Brady and Brelyn). Visitation will begin at 6:00pm with a 7:00pm Rosary on , 24, 2017 at Sunset Northwest , 6321 Bandera Road. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on , 25, 2017 at 11:30am at St. Brigid's Catholic Church, 6907 Kitchener St., with burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston National .
