Obituary: SGM (Ret) George Robert Barrett, 73, passed away on May 16, 2015 at his home in El Paso, Texas. He is in the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ. He was born 8, 1941 in Greenville, North Carolina. A U.S. Army veteran, George honorably served his country 28 years with an additional 10 years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He saw combat in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm Iraq and fulfilled several tours in Germany and Korea. He was a loving father of Pamela Robinson, Lisa Barrett, MD, Jessica Barrett- Adams, MPA (husband John), Kensley Barrett, Esq. (wife Andrea), and Soobin Lee Barrett. Doting grandfather of Dana and Jay Robinson, Pierce Barrett-Donnelly, Sage O. Barrett, Sarah, Samantha and Jack Adams. George is survived by his former wife Lou Ellen (Linda) Barrett (née Smith), faithful companion Manuela (Margaret) Stemsley, brothers Willie Barrett (wife Ella) and Vincent Gallope (wife Annette), sisters Annie Marie Parks and Sudie Davis. Obituary: Genevieve Elizabeth Barrett, 82, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away 28, 2011 in Kingwood, Texas. She was born May 19, 1928 in Royersford, Pennsylvania to Charles and Genevieve Friel. Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Mark Barrett, Jr. and a brother, Charles Edward Friel. She is survived by sons, Willis Mark Barrett III and wife, Cathy, John Christopher Barrett and wife, Kerri; daughter, Catherine Richmond and husband, John; grandchildren, Lauren, Leslie, Jonathan and Zachary. Genevieve Barrett moved from her home state of Pennsylvania to Beaumont, Texas in 1943. graduation from South Park High School in 1946 she was employed in the accounting department of Magnolia Petroleum for a period of 5 years. It was during this period that she met and married Willis Mark Barrett, Jr. She graduated from the Vocational Program at Lamar Institute of Technology in 1966, and was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 7 years. She always enjoyed music and poetry, and was a member of the Senior Citizen Choir at First Baptist Church for a number of years. She was also a member of the Beaumont Chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas, which she joined in 2003. Her life was her family and friends and she will be greatly missed. Visitation will take place , 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn . services to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Forest Lawn Chapel. Obituary: Frances Lorene Gillman Barrett \ beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 82 on , 19, 2014 in Austin, Texas. Frances was born in Austin, and except for a few years lived in Austin. She married while still in high school at the age of 16, completed her senior year of high school at Austin High. Former employers were Texas Instruments in Richardson, TX, Kaman Instruments, Tracor, AMD, CSI, & 3M all of Austin Texas. She served on the Quality Control Council as well. Frances was a very dedicated employee and would have worked much longer but was forced to retire as her eyesight deteriated due to macular degeneration. Frances loved her family, gardening, baking, loved the birds that would gather around her bird feeders, her doggie, Phoebe. losing her sight she would listen to her audio books, bake cookies, cakes (yes she could with minimal help), watch jeopardy, and lately she enjoyed Family Feud as well. There are limited TV shows she could enjoy as she couldn see but she could listen to and enjoy. Her family well knew not to call on weekdays at 4 pm or s at 5 pm as that was her Jeopardy time. Before losing her eyes she love crocheting and worked so hard to finish afghans before she had to stop, she was happy a new friend offered to complete the last one for her this past year. She enjoyed her morning coffee on her front porch with Phoebe, she also really loved Halloween, not because of the holiday itself but she loved giving the candy out to the trick or treaters and she always wanted the good candy to give to the kid dos. Even this last Halloween when she was not able to sit on the front porch and have the different costumes of the kiddos described to her she still wanted and did give the kiddos their treats. Frances had a giving heart even through limited funds she tried to give to those less fortunate, particularly to veterans, orphans, and animal rescues. Frances wasn an official member of a church, but she was a Christian and did open her heart for Christ. Thank you to Ruth Geilenfeldt, Peter Horn, and Julia Powell. Frances was pre-deceased by her mother Lois Faglie Gillman McGee, her father Walter Harry Gillman, her brother Walter Samuel Gillman, Jr. She is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Frank and Jean Bono of Wading River, NY, her children and their spouses, daughter and son in law Vickie and Joseph OBrien of Leander, TX, son and daughter in law Roger and Larisa Barrett of Mt. Vernon, TX, son and daughter in law Randy and Marjorie Barrett of Cedar Creek, TX, and daughter & son in law Debbie and Jimmy Maxwell of Cedar Creek, TX,. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, Stacey Zuniga, Michael Zuniga, Roger Barrett,Jr., Michelle Rodriguez, Teresa Smythia, Timothy Zuniga, Cherry Barrett, Randy Barrett Jr., Daniel OBrien, Jonathan Maxwell, and 10 great-grandchildren, Dakota Barrett, Cheyanne Barrett, Tyler Rodriguez, Mason Rodriguez, Brianna Rodriguez, Coltan Rodriguez, Jonny Maxwell, Jeffrey Lee Maxwell, Finnley OBrien, & Nico Van Zuniga. The surviving family would like to acknowledge the care giver for their mom Ms. Julia Powell of Texas as well as the Meals on Wheels program volunteers, and the staff of Austin Heart Hospital including the doctors, nurses, respiratory techs, meal delivery and nutrition personnel who helped with her care. Austin, Paul, Tracy, Aileen, Kathleen, Taylor, Sarah, James, Dr. McMinn, Dr. Ziebert, Clarissa, and many more who helped in these final days, thank you for the care, the respect, and love you showed our mother and our family. |

Obituary: Eva Handley Barrett passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas on , May 12, 2015 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 68. Eva is survived by her husband, Robert E. (Bob) Barrett of Dallas; daughter, Dr. Haley Wagner and her husband Erin of Dallas; son, Luke and wife Jessica of Dallas; her loving grandchildren, Ella and Audrey Wagner and Morgan Barrett, all who greatly miss their Eme. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Lynn Timbrook of Starkville, Mississippi; and sister-in-law, Sandy Handley of Barnum, Texas. Eva was born on 19, 1947 in Camden, Texas to Wanda Gulley Handley and John A. Handley. She graduated from Chester High School as Salutatorian in 1965. She received a Bachelors and two Masters degrees from SFASU. While at SFA, Eva played basketball for Coach Sue Gunter and led the Ladyjacks in scoring for three years. Eva and Bob met at SFA and they were married 21, 1968 in Morgantown, West Virginia. Together they started their teaching careers in Friendswood, Texas. Eva taught Biology and coached girls athletics as a young teacher. Upon the arrival of baby Haley, Eva stopped coaching and taught for many years at Corrigan Camden ISD. In 2002 she retired as the Special Education Director for Anahuac ISD. Retirement didn suit her and she returned to teaching special needs children at Baker Middle School in LaPorte. Eva continued to teach at Baker until illness stopped her career after forty three years. Even though Eva Barrett was a dedicated educator, she was a generous, loving and supporting mother. She had to ability to make everyone around her better. Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson . |
