Obituary: Roderick Roddy Alan Barr, 77, passed away 22, 2021 in the comfort of his home in Weimar, Texas after a lengthy illness. Roddy was born May 19, 1944 in Tyler, Texas to loving parents Ralph Arl and Norma Jean Boyle Barr. Raised in Houston he attended Jeff Davis High School where he was a member of the award winning Jazz Band. Over 63 years as a professional drummer, Roddy began drum lessons at the age of 9 and began his professional career in junior high playing drums in the Henry Lee Orchestra (Glen Miller sound) and in the 60s with bands, Buddy Groves and the Kings & The Perry Mates Roddy learned his craft with years of experience playing different styles of music from rock & roll, rhythm & blues, Latin, soul and jazz. In the 70s & 80s formed his own groups; the Aquarians and Split Image and as lead singer and bandleader played engagements in the United States, England and Bermuda for numerous major hotel resorts, restaurants/clubs. In 1987 Roddy joined The Good, Bad and Ugly band and for 32 years brought his own style of singing and rhythm on the drums to country music. A multi-talented, gifted drummer, versatile vocals with a four-octave range. His personally and special knack for interaction with audiences. In 1987 began working for Continental Airlines in the finance department later transferring to Houston Intercontinental Airport as a gate and ticket agent. A position he loved and enjoyed interacting with the public and passengers. retiring in 2004 he and his wife Fran moved to the Osage area Weimar, TX. On 5, 1964 Roddy married the love of his life Frances Kucera Barr. shared 56 years of love, laughter, memories, the Catholic faith, and devotion to one another. loved to travel, dancing to the 60s, 70s music and their favorite dance he whip. On top of all his gifts, accomplishments and achievements, the proudest moments in his life were the birth of his children and grandchildren. He was a hands on dad, participating in their activities (softball) high school band, coaching and refereeing soccer. Survivors include his loving wife Frances Kucera Barr, son Ralph Alan Barr and wife Amy, grandson Ralan Barr of Cedar Park,Texas daughter Kristen Barr Grabein and husband Craig of Tomball, Texas. Grandchildren Andrew, Aubrey, and Alexander Grabein, Sisters Patricia Bruecher, Daphine Scott, Naomi Thornburg and cousins Richard and Todd Hoepfner, sister-in-law Annie Milling and numerous nieces, nephews. Services St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church, 401 N. St., Weimar, Texas. Rosary at 9:30 am, Visitation at 10:00 am and the Mass at 11:00 am A private internment will be held at Forest Park Lawndale, Houston, Texas at a later date. |

Obituary: Phyllis Carol Barr, 69 years of age, was accepted into Heaven surrounded by her family on , 20, 2012 in her home in Carrollton, TX after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Phyllis was born 25, 1943 in Johnstown, PA. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary A. Smith and father, Robert B. Smith as well as two sisters, Twila Smith and Reta Wess and one granddaughter, Blake Barr. Those left to cherish her loving memories are her two brothers, Ronald and Gregory Smith and three sisters, Shirley Barringer, Patricia Bakale, and Veronica Serre. She is also survived by her four sons, Raymond Barr and wife, Robin; Craig Barr and wife, Patty; Travis Barr and wife, Kendall; and Bart, as well as her only daughter Tiffany Rash and husband Mark. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren who were a great source of love and pride in her life as she watched them grow. Phyllis will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. on , 23 at the Rhoton in Carrollton, TX. services to celebrate Phylliss life will be held at 11:00 A.M. , 24 at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Dallas, TX.
