Obituary: Collier Barnett, 79, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on evening, 6 at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas surrounded by his cherished wife, family and friends. Collier lived his life to the fullest and will be remembered by those who knew him as a man of integrity, generosity, compassion and enthusiasm. He was always full of heart. Collier graduated from New Trier Township High School in Winnetka, IL and Princeton University in 1956 and served 2 years as an officer in the US Navy from 1956 - 1958. Collier has lived in Dallas since 1978 and in recent years split his time between Dallas and his summer home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Collier embraced challenge and distinguished himself as a successful entrepreneur, having started more than 5 successful ventures during his professional life, including Barnett TeleDirectors, Ltd; Lone Star Amusements; Auto Vend; and Payroll Central, Inc. Collier was an avid sportsman and competitor, starting in his youngest days as a high school varsity football player and throughout his life as he participated in many sports activities. His best days were spent with friends on the golf course, and playing tennis and croquet. He loved all games - board games, card games, especially gin and bridge. Collier was a devoted servant starting as an Eagle Scout. He served on mission trips to Honduras in connection with St. Lukes Church and is a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrews. He was a member of the Dallas Ski Club, Trillium Links and Lake Club, Cedar Creek Racquet Club and the Cooper Aerobics . Above all else, Collier loved spending time with his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Gail Ransom Barnett, his children, Sally Jourden and her children Steven and Nicholas; Steven Barnett and his children Sarah and Samantha; and Hilary and Langley Steinert and their children, Nicholas, Max and Alexis. The family would like to thank Dr. Minal Barve, Dr. Divi Puttagunta, Dr. Gregory Pollock, Dr. Riva Rahl and the Cooper Clinic for their excellent care. A service in memory and in celebration of Collier Barnetts life will be held on , 12 at 1:30 pm at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 5923 Royal Lane in Dallas. Obituary: Christina Phillippe Barnett, 98, of Paris, formerly of Bonham, passed away , Jan. 15, 2015, at Spring Lake Assisted Living Community in Paris. Bright-Holland has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. , Jan. 18th, at First Baptist Church of Bonham with Rev. Fred Fangio officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Wild . The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Barnett, the daughter of Lester & Mabel Phillippe, was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Dallas. In of 1936, she married V. L. Barnett, building 42 years of family and memories before his death in of 1979. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Bonham where she served as church librarian for many years. Before her move to Paris three years ago, she was active in all church activities and many civic organizations in Bonham. She was preceded in death by her husband, V. L. and a sister, Jeanette Addington. Survivors include four children, Rosemary LeGrotte & husband Jim of Pilot Point, Jane Baker & husband Kenneth of Carrollton, Debbie Pierce & husband Brad of Paris and John Barnett of New Braunfels, seven grandchildren, Christina Beleck, Vickie Stinchcomb, Pam Stillwell, Darby Pierce, Brady Pierce, Curtis LeGrotte and Craig LeGrotte, ten great grandchildren, along with friends from Spring Lake Assisted Living Community and her church family. Casket bearers will be: Brady Pierce, Brad Pierce, Kenneth Baker and Greg Towe. |

Obituary: CEBE SUE WITTLINGER BARNETT On May 15, we very unexpectedly lost one of the good ones. Cebe Sue set the bar for living life to the fullest with her vivacious personality. She was born on 9, 1927 in Middletown, Ohio. In 1929, she and her family moved to Houston. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1944 and was a senior officer in the Golden Gauchos. She attended Southwestern University in Georgetown TX and University of Houston, was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and active in the Frontier Fiesta at U. of H. On 1, 1966 she married Captain Clifton "Clif" Barnett, in Houston, Texas. Together they formed Barnett Associates and Barnett and Casbarian, marine and ocean engineering consultants in the offshore oil industry. were longtime members of the Petroleum Club. During their 41 plus years together, they traveled the world and made many wonderful friends. retired to the Buckingham where they lived until their deaths. Cebe Sue and her family were longtime members of St. Martins Episcopal Church in Houston. She co-founded The Village School in 1966 for children ages three to five years, ran it very successfully, and sold the school in 1973. She was Mayor of the City of Hunters Creek from 1983 to 1993. She was active in the Doorkeeper organization of the Open Door Mission Foundation. But her greatest achievement, joy, and love was her family. Cebe Sue is predeceased by her loving husband, Clifton Barnett, parents, Frederick Moren Wittlinger and Clara Belle "C.B." Wright Wittlinger, sister, Elizabeth Anne "Bettie" Gaines, brother, Robert C. Wittlinger and wife Kris, and nephew, Robert C. Wittlinger. She is survived by her daughter, Cebe Sue Thompson Jones her husband John McKinley "J.M." Jones III. Granddaughters, Ashley May Beauregard her husband John Jay Beauregard, McKinley Anne Williams her husband Thomas Jacob Williams. Great grand children, Jadyn Leigh Beauregard, Adyson Mae Beauregard, Marcus Quiroga Williams, and Jordyn McKinley Williams--all of Houston and Katy areas. Niece, Anne Wittlinger Kelley her husband Scott, Nephews, Jock Weissenberger his wife Jacie their children/grandchildren, Paul Wittlinger, and Mark Wittlinger his children Tyler and Sam. Niece Ginny Elverson Welch her husband Pat and Nephew Devitt Elverson. She is also survived by her very dear and caring friend, Ken Schmidt, and by many wonderful friends, and by her loving and loyal kitty, KoKo. The celebration of Cebe Sue's life will be held at The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas on May 28 at 2 pm. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Houston SPCA, 900 Portway Dr., 77024 or charity of your choice. |
