Obituary: BOBBY NEIL BARNES Surrounded by his seven children, Bobby Neil Barnes passed away on May 21, 2016 at his home in Richmond, Texas. Bobby was born on May 20, 1937 in Bell , Texas to Lucille and M.S. (Bus) Barnes. He attended Belton public schools and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin on 6, 1959 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. He began a career with Gulf Oil Corporation in Houston, Texas on 11, 1960 and married Barbara Ann Zurovec on 30, 1960 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Temple, Texas. Bobby and Barbara were blessed with seven children: Paul Barnes, Jennifer Flannery, Karen Davenport, John Barnes, Karla Putnam, Lucy Wray, and Sara Phelps. Bobby and Barbara were long-time, active members at Corpus Christi Catholic Church and School. Their growing family led them to Northwest Houston, where they enjoyed many years of family, friends, and community. Barbara passed away on 17, 1993. over 30 years of active participation in the Catholic Church, Bobby was baptized on May 7, 1994 at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Spring, Texas. On 23, 1996, Bobby married Caroline Davenport at Triumphant Love Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas, bringing wonderful stepchildren Donna Hyde and David Davenport into the family. Caroline and Bobby moved to Pecan Grove in Richmond, Texas, where they attended Joy Lutheran Church and Bobby became an active member of the Pecan Grove Senior Mens Golf Association. Caroline passed away on 12, 2008. Bobby is survived by his older brother, Jamie G. Barnes and his wife, Merle, of Whitney, Texas. In addition to his seven children and their spouses, he is also survived by one nephew, two nieces, 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. Throughout his lifetime, Bobby was a hardworking, devoted provider for his family. He coached countless youth sports teams, was known to be able to fix anything, and always had a kind word for those in need. He was a gentle soul who selflessly cared for his parents, in-laws, and two remarkable wives. He leaves behind a deep-rooted legacy of family. Visitation will be held at 10 AM on , May 24, at Joy Lutheran Church, 717 FM 359, Richmond, Texas. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM. All are invited to join the family for a catered lunch in the church hall immediately after the service. Burial will be at Klein Memorial Park, 32539 SH 249, Pinehurst, TX at approximately 3 PM. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to Houston Hospice at www.houstonhospice.org. |

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Marvin M. and Irene L. Barnes; sister, Shirley May Brotherton; brother, William Gordon Hibbits; brother-in-law, Marvin and his wife, Carol Barnes; nephews, William Joseph Bollinger, Kevin Lee Barnes and John Andrew Scott. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Walter Lee Barnes; children, Deborah Ann Barnes, Susan Kay Barnes and Jeffrey Scott Barnes and wife Dawn; grandchildren Hannah Liann Barnes and Amiri Ali; sisters, Elizabeth and husband Charles Alexander, Margaret Graves, Glenda Daves, Karen and husband Eddie Wideman and Dianna Parmer; sister-in-law, Earl and Helen Scott; brothers-in-law, Emmett and LaNell Barnes and Robert and Venieta Barnes; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
