Obituary: Robert John Barker passed away suddenly on 1, 2015 in stead, Florida. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on 21, 1960 to Jim and Mollie Barker. Robert grew up in Florida and graduated from South Miami High School in 1978. He attended Miami Dade Junior prior to working for the U.S. Navy at Andros Island, Bahamas. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army in the Medical Service Corps, serving almost four years in Seoul, South Korea. He returned to Florida upon the completion of his enlistment and worked briefly, before moving to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1987. He distinguished himself in the restaurant industry in Texas and Florida from 1987 to 2009, including The Lighthouse, The Republic of Texas and Blackbeards on the Beach in Corpus Christi, Beulahs in Port Aransas, and Christies in Coral Gables FL. Robert married the former Linda Barton Lee in 1993. He later received his Commercial Drivers License from Del Mar and spent a year driving regionally and cross- country for national haulers, then locally for the RTA B-Line. He returned to Florida in 2011 and was very active and worked with paralyzed veterans at the Miami Veterans Hospital. Over the past two years he participated in wheel chair games and activities in Tampa, Aspen, San Diego, Philadelphia and Dallas. Robert is survived by his mother, Mollie Stedman (Barker); father and stepmother, Jim and Montye Barker; brothers, Tom Barker (Corinne), Bryan Barker, and John Danese; sister, Gaye Walker (Steve); former wife, Linda Lee Barker; an aunt and uncle; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. Robert truly never met a stranger and with his ready- smile, easily made friends from all walks of life. Restaurant clientele regularly asked for him and were made to feel like family when he served them. He had that rare gift of conversation, but on a very personal, sincere level. His love of the Korean people, their culture, food and language never faded. He found Korean restaurants and grocery stores in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, which he frequented regularly. He loved sports of all types, particularly the Florida teams- the Dolphins, Heat and University of Miami Hurricanes. He loved to reflect on the golden years of the Dolphins with his brothers, nephew and friends. Robert and his mom shared a very special bond and were like wo peas in a pod in many ways, including the love of travel, crossword puzzles, television comedies, movies and family history. Both were always ready for that next vacation. Robert was a man of faith, a Baptist and loved the Lord with a deep conviction. One of the talents given him by the Lord was that effervescent smile and positive outlook that he shared in such a special way with the paralyzed veterans in Miami over the past three years. He will be greatly missed by these men and the VA staff. He loved his family very much and his family believed in him, loved him dearly and has been enriched by having Robert for 54 years. Obituary: Ann Barker, 55, passed away 7, 2002 at home with her family at her side. She had endured a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She touched everyone in her life with her presence, generosity, charm and humor. She loved all animals and was active in conservation efforts. Obituary: Richard H. Barker, retired Air Force and Civil Servant entered into rest 19, 2010 in San Antonio at the age of 67. A member of Northeast Bible Church, he was born 10, 1943 in Rocky Branch, KY to the late David N. Barker & Blanche F. (Ison) Barker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Ima Violet Barker in 2008.
