Obituary: Billy Ray Barber, 81, of Arthur City, passed away , 14, 2015 at Brentwood Terrace and Rehabilitation . Bright-Holland has scheduled funeral services for 10:30 am, , 18, 2015 at Chicota Baptist Church with Reverend Rocky Burrow officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held at 10:15 am, , 19, 2015, at Dallas Fort Worth National . Mr. Barber was born 15, 1933 in Blossom to Lee Roy Barber and Esther Lambert Barber. He attended West Lamar School followed by his induction in the U.S. Army in 1953. Mr. Barber served his country proudly and received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. He met Joyce Phemister on 2, 1955 and they married on 31, 1955, building over 59 years of family and memories. Mr. Barber was a member of Chicota Baptist Church and The Wise Men’s School Class. He also enjoyed fishing, anytime he could. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Virginia Williams and Alta Fogelman and a brother, Harrell Barber. Survivors include his wife; his children, Rachel Rodges & husband Terry of Irving, Billy Barber & wife Tonya of Arthur City and Priscilla Snipes & husband John of Irving; grandchildren, Naaman Rodges, Barry Rodges & wife Paige, O’Neal Rodges, Lindsay Hayes & husband Justin, Jamie Guzman & husband Rusty, Tara Barber, Faith Rodges, Millicent Rodges, Billy Snipes, Thomas Snipes, Travis Ray Snipes, Ty Lucas Barber, Savannah Barber, Ricky Tucker and Taylor Tucker; 15 great-grandchildren, 17 nieces, 15 nephews; one sister, Pat Crane; two brothers, Travis Barber and Kenneth Barber & wife ; one sister-in-law, Molly Spiers & husband Bobby, along with a host of friends. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Mr. Barber’s 18 grandchildren, members of The Wise Men’s School Class, as well as Ken Barber, Clint Barber, Michael Wisdom, Malcolm Reed, Ken Doll, Jerry Rodges, Rusty Guzman and Travis Ray Snipes. |

Obituary: Betty Hairston Barber was born 6, 1936. She walked into the arms of Jesus 16, 2015. She was born and raised in Tyler, Texas, the only daughter of Guy and Ethel McGrew Hairston. She moved to Austin after her marriage to Lewie Mabry Barber in 1956, and remained there until her death. She was a member of the University of Texas Ladies club and long and faithful member of TOPS. She was a 20 year employee of Reitz Music . A faithful member of Allandale/Great Hills Baptist Church for more than 30 years, where she was active in the Youth Dept. and the Choir. For the past 3 years, she served as an active member of Austin Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lewie M. Barber of Austin. Daughters and son-in-laws, Vickie & Daniel Lee of Kingwood, Texas, Carole & Rocky Marshall of Boerne, Texas, and daughter, Patricia Howard of Austin, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Jacob Lee, Vincent Howard and wife Heather, Adam Lee, Erica Carreon, Abigail Lee, Katelyn Marshall, Ruth Lee, Kyle Marshall and Grant Marshall; and 4 great-grandchildren, Savannah Spillman, Levi Spillman, Ava Howard and Wyatt Taylor; her Niece, Kay Dierlam of Alabama, and two Nephews, C. K. Rodieck of Wisconsin, and Richard Rodieck of California, as well as numerous cousins and a host of cherished friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and faithful Christian.
