Obituary: Shirley Faye Bigham Baker was born May 24, 1936, in Coleman, Texas, to Pervy Victoria and Delia Lee (Blake) Bigham. She met and married Edwin Earl Baker on 29, 1954 in Coleman, Texas. Shirley enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a fantastic cook who loved fishing and reading books as well. Shirley was also an avid 42 player and enjoyed a game whenever she had the chance. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and she will be dearly missed by all that knew her and loved her. Sharon, the daughter of Nolan Pool, Sr. & Velma Louise Smith Pool, was born Aug. 30, 1954, in Borger, Texas. Sharon graduated from North Lamar High School in 1972, and received her nursing degree from Texas Women’s University. Her career as a surgical nurse spanned a number of years before her health failed. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, which she enjoyed very much and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her parents preceded her in death. Obituary: Sharon Kay Baker, 59, was called home to Heaven on 28, 2015 after succumbing to the symptoms related to failing health due to a stroke suffered in 2015.Sharon was born in Dallas TX on 7, 1956 to Ernest Gail Baker (“Gail”) and Nelda Sue Baker. She was a life-long native of Dallas, who worked at the Fireman’s Fund Insurance for 30 years, retiring in 2014. Her life revolved around family, friends and a love of animals. She was a regular contributor to the SPCA for many years. In her younger days and throughout her life she loved boating and water skiing, playing the guitar and singing. She was an avid reader, who loved puzzles, computer games and was unbeatable in trivia. Sharon was as good of a daughter, sister, and friend that anyone could ask for, and she will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her. Sharon was all about family, and even though she meant something different to each of us, she was family to all of us. It is easy to understand why her friendships spanned over forty or fifty years. Sharon had a larger than life personality bringing happiness to everyone around her. She would put on a tough veneer to hide a warm and giving heart that never knew a stranger or refused help to someone in need. She had a wry sense of humor, and she loved to slip a joke into the conversations leaving everyone laughing. It is difficult to sum up all that Sharon was and all that she meant to those she left behind. We will miss you Sharon, but will see you again. Sharon is survived by her sister Donna, companion of 20 years Phyllis, several cousins and other family members. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Gail and Nelda, and other family members and close friends. Obituary: On 11, 2015, after years of declining health Saul died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Saul was born on 17, 1925 in Worcester, Mass to Benjamin Baker and Rose Lepoviz. Immediately after graduating from High School, he enlisted in the Army and served his country in World War II in the Pacific as an Aerial Gunner on a B-29. He was decorated with medals of honor and conduct. the war, he went to the University of Wisconsin graduating in 1949 with a B.S in Economics. graduation he went to the University of Pennsylvania Law School where after one year, decided that law was not for him He started his career in Investment Banking in 1951 in New York as a securities analyst for Orvis Brothers and L.E Rothschild. In 1957 he joined First Southwest in Dallas as a member of the Corporate Finance Group. He rose to a Vice President position in 1967 over the Syndicate Department. In 1971 he became a Director of the and subsequently Executive Vice President, Secretary to the Board of Directors responsible for Corporate Capital Markets group which consisted of Equity Trading, Syndicate, Institutional and Individual client and marketing. He retired in 1991 upon the sale of First Southwest . He was a member of the Business Conduct Committee of the National Association of Securities Dealers, where he served as an Arbitrator and expert witness. He served as Trustee of the Smallwood Foundation until his health started to decline. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lillian and brother in law Leon, Saul is survived by his wife Lourdes and their children: From Portland, OR Cathy and Kevin Keaney and their children Josh, Liam and Vicente; from Dallas, TX Scott A. Baker and his wife Terri; from Austin, TX Virginia and Steve Mogden and their children Jeremiah and Zena; and from Denver, CO Lisa and Grant Wicklund and their children John and Victoria. And his beloved Pennsylvania and Virginia nephew and nieces: Sheldon and Janet and their children; Rhonda and Larry and their children and grandchildren; Beverly and Jack. The family would like to thank long time care takers: Miriam, Elizabeth, Yolanda and Adriana. Thank you to the extraordinary care received by VNA Hospice. Family asks that donations be made in his memory to VNA, KERA, Frontier Museum of Flight or Camp John Marc. He was a man of conviction and honor, a good citizen and exemplary family man. Memorial service for Mr. Baker will be held on , 22, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel. |
