Obituary: Donald B. Barkowitz, 79, of Sullivans Island, South Carolina, husband of Roslyn Lancer Barkowitz, entered into eternal rest , 27, 2014. His Service will be held , 28, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Shiva will be observed at the residence beginning on , 1 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM and the following - , 1:00-3:30 PM and 7:30-9:30 PM. Mr. Barkowitz was born May 15, 1934, in Charleston, SC, son of the late Paul Barkowitz and Annie Kaufman Barkowitz. He was a graduate of Rivers High School and the of Charleston where he played college basketball for the C of C Maroons. He later graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law and practiced law in Charleston for 36 years. He was a former magistrate for Charleston and was a member of the Charleston Bar Association and South Carolina Bar. He also served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Barkowitz was the first director for the Isle of Palms athletic department and later served as a part time athletic director for the Jewish Community . He was a long time member of Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue and currently attended Chabad of Charleston. He loved to play tennis with his doubles partner, father-in-law David Lancer. In addition to his loving wife of 47 years, Roslyn, of Sullivans Island, SC, he is survived by his two sons, A. Randall Barkowitz and his wife, Amy, of Atlanta, GA; P. Steven Barkowitz, and his wife, Nichole, of Isle of Palms, SC; three grandchildren, Miles, Freddie and Evan to whom he was affectionately known as PaPa; mother-in-law and long time legal secretary, Betty Momma Beppy Lancer. He was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Fried, and two brothers, Harold Barkowitz and Seymour I. Barkowitz. Memorials may be made to Chabad of Charleston, 734 York Street, Mt. Obituary: Sue Nicholson Barkley, 78, of Easley, wife of the late James R. Bobby Barkley, passed peacefully , 12, 2016 at Greenville Place. Mrs. Barkley was born in Pickens to the late Clyde William Nicholson and Burnice (Reid) Nicholson. She attended Open Praise Fellowship in Easley. In addition to her parents and loving husband of over 50 years, Mrs. Barkley was preceded in death by her daughter, Teressa Barkley Jenkins, and sister, Helen Pilgrim. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Johnny R. Barkley (Tammy) of Pickens; sister, Lois Smith of Pickens; grandsons, Matthew (Hannah) and Brian Barkley and Joshue Jenkins; great-grandchildren, JoAnna, Lydia and Josiah. service will be held at 12:00 PM, , 14th at Robinson - Downtown, 305 W. Born in Pickens , a son of the late Thurston Leon and Annie Lee Barkley, Mr. Barkley was employed with Cook Equipment and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey and Justin Barkley, and Jamie Robinson; two daughters, Misty A. Todd and Heather N. Barkley; two brothers, Larry and Tim Barkley; one sister, Cheryl Watson; the mothers of his children, Linda Champion and Tommie Barkley; and nine grandchildren, Levi Todd, Stephen Barkley, Brandon Barkley, Austin Barkley, Mackenzie Barkley, Ryleigh Grace Barkley, Jazmyn Durham, Ashten Durham, and Robert Robinson.
