Obituary: Jean May (Leaf) Bjorklund 21, 1923 - May 16, 2015 Jean Bjorklund passed away May 16, 2015 at the age of 92. Jean was born to Andrew and Mary Erickson Leaf of Grandy, Minnesota and was the fourth of 12 children. In 1946, Jean married Jim Bjorklund and lived in Minnesota until moving to Oregon in the summer of 1950. settled in the Sellwood neighborhood close to Jims brothers and sister. In 1966 they moved to Tigard where they lived on 3 ½ acres. Together they grew a large flower and vegetable garden. Jean canned and shared the fresh vegetables with family, friends and neighbors. loved the Oregon coast and spent long weekends at their favorite place, the Sandcastle. In 1985, they traveled to Europe on a three week tour with Jims sister and brother-in-law. At the end of the tour, they traveled to Sweden to visit with their extended families. Jeans father and Jims father emigrated from Sweden in the early 1900s. worked together creating woodworking projects which Jim crafted in his shop and Jean painted and finished for sale and family gifts. She loved to crochet and quilt. Her favorite craft was her handmade dried flower cards that were sold or sent to family and friends. In 2004, Jean moved to King City where she resided until 2013. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim of 55 years in 2001; parents, Andrew and Mary; five brothers, LeeMoile, Allen, Russell, George and Wayne and sister Barbara. She is survived by daughter, Nancy and husband Ralph Arnzen of Lake Oswego, son, Mark of Wilsonville, grandchildren, Julie Arnzen of Lake Oswego, Matt Arnzen and wife Jill of Beaverton, great grandchildren, Adam Lunceford and Lauren Arnzen. Jean is also survived by five sisters, Marian Tesmar, Dorothy Nelson, Lila (Jack) Hasser, Beverly (Glen) Paulson and Janice Johnson all of Minnesota; sisters in-law, Dorothy (Russell) Leaf, Minnesota, (LeeMoile) Leaf, California, Phyllis (George), Alaska, Helen (Bjorklund) Hanson, California, brother-in-law Bill Bjorklund, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Oswego Place Assisted Living and Signature Hospice for their wonderful care and support. At Jeans request there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held later. Jean will be interred at Willamette National . Obituary: James M. Bjorklund was born 16, 1946 in Seattle, Washington to Milton and Glorious Bjorklund. He graduated from Ingrahm High School in 1964 and went on to attend technical college for two years. Jim was drafted into the United States Army. He served honorably in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He received such medals as the National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Commendation Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M16 and M14), Vietnam Campaign, Combat Infantryman Badge, and a Purple Heart. On 20, 1968, Jim exchanged wedding vows with Connie Sampson in Our Savior Lutheran Church of Lake City, WA. The couple had two children, Mark and Eric. were also blessed with four grandchildren, Jordan, Lucas, Zach, and Emma. Jim made it a point to attend every sporting event his children and grandchildren were involved in, rain or shine. He always showed great loyalty toward his loved ones. In 1976, Jim and Connie moved their family to Oregon where Jim worked in sales for Polson. He moved on to be the division sales manager for Mitchell, Lewis, and Staver, and finally United Pipe and Supply. He retired in 2008. Jim was a member of the Oregon Ground Water Association. He also enjoyed camping, woodworking, and especially found great pleasure in being entertained by his grandchildren. In his earlier years, he spent many hours coaching soccer and baseball for his sons teams. He grew to be a great Timbers fan, Sea Hawks supporter, and NASCAR enthusiast. Jim was stoic, happy, and fun-loving. He was a hard worker and demonstrated integrity in every aspect of his life. Jim passed away on May 14, 2011 in Portland, Oregon. A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM, , May 23, 2011 in Lincoln Memorial . A graveside service with military honors will follow in Willamette National . Visitation will be available from 11:00am to 5:00pm, , May 21, 2011 in Lincoln Memorial . Jim is survived by his loving wife, Connie; father, Milton; children, Mark (Erin) and Eric; brother, Bryan (Laurie); nephews, Brent and Gary; and grandchildren, Jordan, Lucas, Zach, and Emma. Obituary: Carl Bjork Sr passed away on 10, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Carl, 84, dearly missed his wife Mary and he knew Momma was waiting and it was time to go. Carl lived a long and happy life and was born in Minneapolis Minnisota, 16, 1927. In 1936, Carl and his family moved to Astoria Oregon Carls early years were spent on a farm first in Astoria and by 1940 his family had moved to another farm in Oregon City. As a youth he attended Eastham Grade School and Oregon City High School. Carls favorite past time in those days was flying along country roads on his bicycle\a passion that would later lead to flying a plane during WWII. As a teen, Carl joined the Civil Air Patrol and joined the Merchant Marines at age 17. He would later join the Air Force. Stationed in Hawaii and serving in the South Pacific he also served for 6 months as a medic attending to the sick and wounded. Carls love of adventure and enlistment eventually led him to New York where me met, fell head over heels in love with, Mary Tyler. they were married in 25, 1948 the two were inseparable. Together, Mary and Carl had 10 children. Carl worked many jobs but most notably as a Machinist at Precision Castparts for 17 years. He retired in 1989. Carl is survived by his loving sisters (Doris and Florence), 9 living children (Nancy, Alice, Mickey, Carl Jr, Roger, Julie, Rodney, Andy and Stanley) and many many, grandchildren and great grandchildren. |
