Obituary: Our Father, Doyle L. Baggerly, passed away peacefully 27th, 2011. He was one month short of celebrating his 96th birthday. He was born to Lucy and Henry Baggerly on 27th, 1915 in Hamburg, Iowa. Doyle, lived an amazing healthy, full life, filled with many adventures. He loved to build houses and skii boats and work on cars, radios and TVs. He had a gift with his hands and put them to good use. He derived great pleasure from making pieces of furniture for friends and family and lovingly made cedar chests for each of his daughters weddings. He loved the challenge of being in the outdoors and fishing and hunting, there were always lockers of fresh venison and salmon at the Baggerly household. Gardening was something that brought him great pleasure and he was always the first to plant his vegetable garden..and then would anxiously await the corn, beans, potatoes and tomatoes to sprout. Picking blackberries and fruit from his acreage was always a treat as soon our Mother would be baking pies. He was faithful to exercise and there were many a morning we would watch him work out with Jack LaLanne on the tube. Waterskiing was his passion, in fact he was still waterskiing at age 89. Our vacations would always revolve around boating, camping and of course waterskiing. He taught himself to play the guitar, piano and zither and would grin from ear to ear when someone would compliment his abilities. Our Mother, and he would sing in church on many occasions, he loved music and sharing it with others. He and Mother traveled extensively throughout the United States, Hawaii and Australia. Having a cold beer or scotch on the rocks was his idea of relaxing in the evenings and especially if he could share it with friends.it always brought a twinkle to his bright blue eyes. Doyle was preceded in death by his brothers, Ellis Baggerly, Dean Baggerly and sisters Ruby Brown, Hazel Skogsberg and Helen Zimmerman. His first wife of 10 years, Florence Shultz and 2nd wife Baggerly of 51 years. Survivors are 3 daughters, Carol Hansen, Pat Harwood and Sherry Dorn and 10 beautiful grandchildren and countless great great-grandchildren. He is now rejoicing in heaven with our Lord, walking those streets of gold. May he rest in peace. under the direction of Youngs , Tigard, OR. |
