Obituary: Charles Olen Barnard, 81 of Norman, passed away , 16, 2015 in Norman. He was born 4, 1934 in Norman, OK to Ray Ohmer and Lillie Mae (Garber) Barnard. Charles was known for his sense of humor, and he loved OU sports and cowboy movies. He was a 6 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and had served on the USS Champlain. He worked as a warehouseman for McKesson Drug for 30 years, and after retiring, worked as a parking attendant at Arvest Bank for 15 years. Charles had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Norman since 1988. Charles is survived by his wife of 51 years, Georgia Barnard, his son, Ricky Louis Barnard; his grandson, Parker Barnard; a sister, Peggy Stephenson of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Bobby Barnard and wife, Francine, Johnny Barnard of Gallup, New Mexico; his sister-in-law, Ladonna (Delmer) Hardesty; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ohmer Barnard and wife Edie; sister-in-law, Marlys Barnard; brother-in-law, Steve Stephenson; uncle and aunt, Meldy and Beulah Reynolds. |

Services are under the direction of Resthaven . Carol was born on 26, 1957 in Fairfax, Oklahoma to Alfred and Barbara (Harold) Barnard. Carol attended school in Dale, Oklahoma where she graduated in 1975. She also attended the Shawnee Beauty School. Carol was employed at several nursing homes in Shawnee and also at Atwoods Farm and Ranch. Carol enjoyed horses, dancing, gardening and country music. She was an active member of the VFW Post 1317 and was also an officer of the Womens Auxiliary Club. Carol enjoyed doing volunteer work for the area schools, the VFW and Feed the Children. She also volunteered her generosity to the needy families of Pottawatomie . She was of the Baptist Faith. Carol is survived by the love of her life, Billy Canada of the home; daughter, Lee Anne Barnard of Louisiana; brothers, Clyde and wife Sharon of McLoud, Carl and Velma of Shawnee, Cal of McLoud, Chester of Shawnee and Cecil of McLoud; several Nieces and nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her cherished aunt, Rosalie Henderson of Ponca City. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Charles. Obituary: Nov. 2, 1944 - Nov. 28, 2015. Michael was born in New York City, Nov. 2, 1944, the only child of Blanche and Lothar Barlow. He came to Oklahoma to attend OU, met the love of his life and never left. Michael loved his family above all else. He treasured the fifty-two years of marriage with his beloved wife Anita. As newlyweds they looked at the night sky and he would say The stars are out tonight; that means I love you. The stars will shine for eternity. He and his sons were very close, both as business partners and as friends. Michael (Papa) also had a very special relationship with each of his four granddaughters, Baylea, Sadie, Rachil and Lily. He also loved his daughters-in-law Laura and Stacie as though they were daughters. Michael was passionate about a great many things. He always loved teaching, from his beginnings at Grant High School to performing workshops and seminars for school administrators. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Educators Hall of Fame in 2010. If you were to encounter Michael in any arena you would find him to be a strong advocate and supporter of the causes and activities he held dear. Many knew him as a passionate supporter of the State of Israel, a voice for the OKC Jewish Community, a negotiator and education consultant, a teacher union leader, an improv comic, a snow camper and cross country skier, and the guy with the Moses beard. Michael and Anita loved travelling together around the globe, many times to Israel, but also to Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Canada, Hawaii and often New York City, where he grew up. services will take place , Nov. 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple B ai Israel, 4901 N. Penn in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gold Fund at Temple B ai Israel or the YWCA Oklahoma City.
