Obituary: Alma L. Brown, 94, went on to be with the Lord at Hospice of Middletown 9, 2015. Alma was born 3, 1920 in Scranton, Kentucky, Powell to Grover Cleveland and Mary (Anderson) Powell. Preceded in death by her loving husband Roger, her brothers, Winfred, Byron, and Bruce Powell, and sisters Thelma (Vicki) Gulinski, Mabel Wills, daughter; Doris Jean Brewer; granddaughter, Tonya Renee Jones and numerous nieces and nephews. Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord. The Matriarch of our family has gone on to her eternal reward. Her family has benefited from her great wisdom, prayers, and counsel and she will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Alma was known for opening up her home for wonderful loving family gatherings at Christmas and that tradition continues today through Lee, her son-in-law, with all the family. For over 40 years she was a member of New Beginnings Church, Pastor Bruce (Reba) Powell, who was also her brothershe loved her church. She and her husband Roger ministered their love and music to numerous nursing homes in the community. For many years she opened her home for ladies prayer meetings where only God knows the extent of breakthroughs, answers to prayers, and changed lives that were accomplished from these meetings. She so enjoyed sharing about the Lord and her many experiences, and people called on her from near and far desiring her prayers. All through her life, she was full of energy and zeal and she would say it was from the joy of the Lord which was her strength, and people were amazed by this. Alma was a woman of steadfast courage and faith, and a woman that was selfless and filled with love. That selfless heart of love finally stopped beating. Those left to cherish her are her daughter Millie, sister Olga Mockbee, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and all who love and remember her. Visitation will be , 15, 2015, Noon to 1PM at A New Beginnings Church with the celebration of life service at 1PM at the church with Reverend Katrina Wilson officiating. Obituary: Allan D. Brown, age 71, of Wellston, passed away suddenly on evening, 23, 2017, doing what he loved to do, farming. He was born 16, 1946 in Wellston, Ohio, to the late Wayne B. Brown and Avonelle D. Leasure Brown. Allan, a 1964 graduate of Coalton High School, was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He was a project engineer for the former McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing in Wellston, where he was employed for 25 years; former project engineer for SBA Consultants; and then retired from Columbia Gas, where he was employed for 16 years. Everyone who knew Allan knew that his passion in life was farming. He was a lifetime farmer who worked daily running the Brown Family Farm. He also enjoyed woodworking and making beautiful pieces of furniture for everyone to enjoy. Allan attended the Evergreen Baptist Church; was a former member of the Wellston City School Board of Education; member of the Jackson Fairboard for 25 years; board member of the Jackson Farm Bureau; member of the Jackson Livestock Committee, Jackson Cattlemans Association and the Jackson Farmers Club ; trustee of the Evergreen Association and a trustee of the ASCS. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Juanita Rose Brown; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Tami Brown of Wellston and Brad and Candi Brown of Wellston; 5 grandchildren, Seth Brown, Kelsey Brown, Emily Call, Derek Brown and Paige Brown; 3 sisters, Gloria Speakman of Richmond Dale, Annabelle Radick of California, and Karen Rowland (Kevin) of Columbus, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Besides his parents, Allan was preceded in death by brothers, John Brown and Charles Brown; sister, Marilyn Wack; and brothers-in-law, Tom Wack and Dick Radick. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams in Wellston. service will be at 11 A.M. at the McWilliams . Burial will follow in the Evergreen .
