Obituary: Ms. Lucille Burnette Moore Dixon Burgess, age 67, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord on , 12, 2014, at her home. services will be held at 2:00 pm , 15, 2014, in the Kirksey Chapel with Pastor John Smiley officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at Kirksey in Morganton. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Burgess, Anthony Burgess, James Burgess, Brandon Watson, Shaquan Fogle and David Burgess. Born on 25, 1947 in Caldwell , Lucille was a daughter of the late Russell Dixon and Lucille Gilmer Dixon. She had worked many years in the furniture industry. She loved singing and had a love for gospel music. Lucille was a Pastor and participated in numerous missionary and community service projects. Some of those include helping school kids with their backpacks and helping to feed the homeless. She enjoyed witnessing to others and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Burgess, Sr. of Morganton; a son, Charles Edward Burgess, Jr. (wife Spring) of Sevierville, TN; four daughters, Faith Twitty (husband James) of Morganton, Rochelle Dula (husband Larry) of Lenoir, Andrea Davidson (husband David) of Morganton, and Felicia Lilly( husband Johnny) of Morganton; niece Denise Gilmore Washington: a special friend, Reverend William Perkins; she is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and numerous other relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Burgess; a grandson, Kenneth Burgess; and a sister, Shirley Lambert. Obituary: Loretta Kendrick Burgess, 84, went home to be with her Lord on evening, 30,2014 with her family by her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Loretta was born in Lincolnton, NC, on May 10 1930 to the late Bonnie Boyd and Effie Kendrick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Charles Mack Burgess and seven brothers and sisters. graduation from Lincolnton High School, Loretta began her work as a telephone operator. She moved to Charlotte to continue her career, working for Bell South for 32 years. retirement, she volunteered with Loaves and fishes Food Pantry of Charlotte. She was a devoted member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Charlotte for 58 years where she faithfully served her Savior and sang in the choir for many of those years. Loretta lived life to the fullest and loved to be on the go. She enjoyed traveling going to the beach, fishing and dancing with her husband, going to water aerobics and playing Scrabble with her sister. Loretta is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Brown and her husband Robert, of Denver, three grandchildren, Colby, Caleb and Christian Brown, one brother, Robert Kendrick and his wife Doti of Montgomery, Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating the life of Loretta Burgess will take place on , 6, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 8501 Belhaven Blvd. Charlotte, NC. Lorettas family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund |
