Obituary: Betty Fox Burch, 81, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully 9th, 2015, at The Serenity House of Huntersville. Betty was born in Charlotte, the youngest of six children, to the late Ruy and Pauline Fox, on 26, 1933. She graduated from Central High School and married her high school sweetheart, the late William G. Burch in 1952. She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother and mother-in-law, and an extraordinary grandmother and great grandmother. Betty dedicated her life to her beloved husband, raising their five children and serving others. She touched the lives of many as a School teacher, GA leader, volunteer and active church member, starting at Pritchard Memorial Baptist, First Baptist of Statesville and Northside Baptist in Charlotte. An experienced seamstress, she spent hours at her sewing machine making Easter dresses, prom gowns and baby clothes. Betty also enjoyed baking. Her greatest joy was being with her family, whether it was boating on Lake Norman, visiting Hilton Head Island or simply sharing a family meal. She also treasured her years as a grandmother, where she taught life lessons to her grandchildren through daily devotions and Bible study. In recent years, her ministry was in prayer and on paper. She was known as a devoted prayer warrior, with a lengthy list she addressed daily. Her outreach also included countless cards-birthdays, anniversaries, get well wishes, or words of encouragement. Betty is survived by her sister Virginia Burkholder of Charlotte; son Will (Cindy) Burch; daughters Becky (Dan) Ujlaky; Brenda (Jimmy) Fuqua; Bethany (Mitch) Frye; Bridget (William) Henderson; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held , 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203, Pastor Bobby Morrow officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private family graveside service will take place at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Missions at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or The Serenity House of Huntersville. Sincere thanks to the wonderful team of staff and volunteers at The Serenity House in Huntersville for their loving care and support. Mothers faith was a pillar of strength for our family and we will always carry her sweet memory in our hearts. |

Obituary: Robert James Burbank, age 79, of Rutherfordton, NC, died , 5, 2015 at Hospice House of Rutherford , with his loving wife at his side. He was born 16, 1935 in Bangor, Maine to the late Fred Burbank and Phyllis Haley Burbank. Mr. Burbank was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Mortician for most of his life until his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Burbank are his beloved wife of 33 years, Ima Jackson Burbank of the home; two daughters, Sonia Nichols of Sanford, Maine and Pamela Sullivan and husband, Lou of Lisbon Falls, Maine; three step-children, Julie Bell and husband, Michael of Lake Adger, NC, Randy Littlefield of Berwick, Maine and Chris Littlefield and wife, Michelle of Sanford, Maine; one brother, Harold Burbank and wife, of Kennebunk, Maine; one sister, Bette Smith and husband, Russ of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; one brother-in-law, Dr. Larry Bailey of Harpswell, Maine; eight grandchildren, Cody Nichols, Mindy Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Rebekah Robson, Nathaniel Robert Sullivan, Emma Sullivan, Cassidy Sullivan and Katrina Sullivan; and one great-grandson, Oliver Robson. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on , 18, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church on Chimney Rock Road in Rutherfordton, NC. An additional Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Carll Heald & Black in Sanford, Maine with burial to follow at the VA in Springville, Maine. Obituary: John Burbank, 88, of Wilmington and Blowing Rock NC, passed away on 13, 2017. He was the son of James A. and Helen C. Burbank of West Hartford, CT. John attended Middlesex School in Concord MA and earned a BA degree from Trinity in Hartford CT. working for the Aetna Casualty and Surety Co., he joined the HD Segur Insurance Agency in Waterbury CT which he later owned. John spent much time in the volunteer arena working with various agencies including the Red Cross, Waterbury Mental Assn, and the United Way. He became chairman of the Connecticut Red Cross and served on their national nominating committee. He served on the United Way Boards of Waterbury, CT, Stuart, FL., and Boone, NC. He mentored school children for many years in Wilmington, NC and at the Crossnore School in Crossnore NC. John was on several advisory boards and served as the president of the Independent Insurance Agents of CT. His greatest passion was to help those less fortunate. John was also a lifelong athlete. He played sports all through school and college. He won awards for squash at Trinity. His passion was golf, and he was an avid fly fisherman. He was also a diehard Boston Red Sox fan and a huge supporter of UCONN Women's Basketball. he turned his business over to his employees, he and his wife Pat retired to Stuart, FL., then to Blowing Rock NC, and finally Wilmington NC where his daughters live. John leaves his wife Patricia Burbank of 66 years, daughters Betsy Burbank and Linda Burbank of Wilmington, NC, grandchildren Erin Kerr of Wilmington, NC, Zachary Kerr of Asheville, NC, Maria Dassinger (Timothy) of Clayton NC and great grandchildren Samantha Dassinger and Tyler Rogers of Clayton NC. He also leaves his brother James C Burbank and several nieces and nephews .He was predeceased by his sister Marion Bailey. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church in Scotts Hill, Wilmington, NC. on 19, 2017 at 11 am.. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Crossnore School, PO Box 2491 Crossnore NC 28616, or to the charity of ones choice. |
