Obituary: Clyde, Sally Pearlene Messer Brown, age 69, passed away , 18, 2016 at her residence. A native of Haywood , she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and C.T. Messer. In the early 60s, Pearlene was employed by the Dayco Corporation but spent most of her life as a homemaker. She had no children of her own, but she loved her family younguns dearly. A wonderful cook, she was well-known for her fabulous brownies and sweet tea. Pearlene also loved to collect dolls. She was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church and served as secretary of the Church Committee. Pearlene is survived by her husband of 48 years, Neil Ansel Brown; four brothers, Donald Messer (Gwen), of Tignall, Georgia and Wilford Messer (Norma) , Jeffery Messer, and Danny Joe Mutt Messer (Belinda), all of Clyde; one sister, Patty Davidson (Harold) of Asheville: special nieces, Kristie Keener and Tiffany Messer; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. services will be held at 12:00 Noon on , 21 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells with Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Eulogy will be given by Charlene Payne and music will be provided by Steve Fincher. Burial will follow at the Panther Creek Baptist Church . The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on at Wells of Waynesville. Memorials may be made to Panther Creek Baptist Church Fund, c/o Donna Greene, 166 Weaver Russell Road, Clyde, NC 28721. |

Obituary: Pearl Deal Brown, age 84, of Claremont, NC, went to her heavenly home on , 28, 2014 at Catawba Valley Medical . Born 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Millard Perry Deal Sr. and Bertha Lavinia Deal Deal of Hickory. She was a lifelong resident of Catawba and a graduate and valedictorian of St. Stephens High School. Pearl was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Hickory. She was a long-time member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont where she taught School for many years, sang in the choir and was a member of LWML. Pearl was a devoted and loving wife, mother and homemaker. Pearl met her best friend and soul mate, Jack, and they were married 2, 1950. Pearl and Jack shared 64 beautiful years together and what a wonderful life they had. enjoyed the outdoors and hiking and had a great passion for the study of wild flowers. Pearl and Jack enjoyed snow skiing and were still skiing the NC Mountains well into her 70s. Pearl loved Gods word and studying her bible. Jack and Pearl shared a very special life together and made many great memories to cherish. Spending 64 years together takes a very dedicated love and also a great respect for each other. were wonderful role models to their family and anyone that had the privilege to know them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; brothers, Millard Perry Deal Jr., Armon Howell Deal; sisters, Edith Deal Morrison, Elaine Deal Merritt, Martha Deal Cline; twin granddaughters, Marla and Carla Brown. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Jack Daniel Brown of Claremont; children, Douglas Randall Brown and wife, Jill, of Claremont, Donna Brown Brown and husband, Ronny, of Catawba, Kevin Leslie Brown, and his wife, Suzanne, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Shawn R. Brown, Mayor of the City of Claremont, and his wife, Angela, of Claremont, Patrick Brown and friend, Brittany Crowe, of Claremont, Emily Lacroix and husband, Chris, of Richmond, VA, Leah Early and husband, Bryant, of Conover, Andy Brown of New York, NY, Colleen Brown of Raleigh, Ian Brown of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Elrod, Jackson Brown, Matthew Early, Jacob Early, Vivian Lacroix; sister, Ruth Deal Jones of Hickory; sisters-in-law, Edna Brown of Claremont, Mabel Brown of Hickory, Yvonne Brown of Starke, FL, Sallie Deal of Martinsville, VA, Catharin Deal of Hickory; numerous nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on , 30, 2014 at Bethel Lutheran Church. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on , 31, 2014 at Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Mike Ramey, Rev. Eric Hollar, and Rev. Craig Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn R.
