Obituary: HICKORY - Martha Eckard Bowman, 82, passed away on , 15th 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice after a brief illness. Martha was born on 8, 1933 in Caldwell to the late Lloyd David Eckard and Rosie Pope Eckard Burns. Martha had retired from Hickory White. She was preceded in death by her son Darrell Stafford and a daughter Mary Wiggins, a great granddaughter, Gina Hendricks, a brother; Bill Eckard, a half brother; Don Fagon, a son-in-law Jack Yelton. Surviving are daughters; Clara Stafford and Barbara Patterson and her husband Byron of Hickory, Betty Sue Shook and her husband Stevie of Newton, Carolyn Yelton of Conover, a son; William Stafford Jr. of Hildebran, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great - great granddaughter, sisters; Alma Yount, Florence Brown, brother Fred Eckard, Johnny Eckard and his wife Josie. The Memorial service will be 17th at 3:00 PM at Hickory with Reverend Robert Mote officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service. Obituary: Marshall Gray Bowman, age 67, of Jamestown, passed away , 29, 2011 at High Point Regional Hospital. Gray was a friend and companion to all who knew him. He loved the outdoors, loved to take walks. He loved his house and enjoyed cleaning it. Gray never had an enemy and never met a stranger, he loved people unconditionally despite their own faults. He enjoyed watching TV especially Dukes of Hazard, Barney and Matlock. His joyous disposition will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a proud member of Mitchells Grove United Methodist Church where he served as an acolyte. He was preceded in death by his parents Isaac Gray and Margaret McGee Bowman. Survivors include his two brothers, Charles and wife Lynn Bowman of High Point and Roland and his wife Jill Bowman of Jamestown; nephews Roland Jr., Will, Beau and Bruce. The family will be at the his brother Rolands house 4144 Kivett Drive, Jamestown A funeral service will be held on at 3:00pm at Mitchells Grove United Methodist Church in High Point with Revs David Cook and Tim Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service. Memorials may be made to Mitchells Grove United Methodist Church, 3511 E. Kivett Dr. in Jamestown under the direction of Sechrest Service, High Point, NC. |
