Obituary: Eula Tew Benfield, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on 21, She was born on 2, 1926 in Dunn, NC, to the late Admon Oscar and Maggie Lee Tew. Mrs. Benfield is survived by her three children: Gary D. Benfield, wife Ellen of Charlotte, NC; Ronald C. Benfield, wife Barbara of The Villages, FL and Sharon B. Simpson, husband Rick of Cornelius, NC; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Eula, is preceded in death by her husband, Jack O. Benfield. Eula was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her life and she enjoyed spending time with all of them whenever she could. She attended Rocky River Baptist Church for 20 years and loved to sing praises to the Lord in the choir and the Joytones quartet. She was a retired day care teacher and enjoyed spoiling children of all ages. Her legacy of love was extended through three generations and her family is so proud of all she accomplished in life. We look forward to her continued watchful eye over us as she peaks through the portals of heaven. A funeral service will be held at two oclock in the afternoon on , the 23rd of , 2015 at McEwen Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in her name. Obituary: Mr. Ernest Watson Benfield, 74, of 133 Millard Lane, Troutman, died , 7, 2010 at his home. Born in Iredell on 13, 1936, he was a son of the late Dewey Ernest Benfield and Irene Overcash Benfield. Watson graduated from Cool Spring High School following which he worked throughout the United States in heavy construction. He also served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged. He was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church. Survivors include his loving companion, Lorraine Norris, a daughter, Tracie Kiser of Statesville and two sons Damian Norris of Washington, D.C. and Ryan Norris of Cary, N.C. Also surviving is a brother, Stephen Benfield of Statesville and grandchildren: Alisha Brewer Hagon of Winston-Salem, Savannah and Jacob Kiser of Statesville, nieces, Teresa Blackwell, Donna Davenport and Sharon Welborn all of Statesville and a great niece Kayla Welborn of Statesville. Services celebrating Watsons life will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. at New Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. David Gay officiating. He will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Damian and Ryan Norris, Mike Overcash, Gary Welborn, Henry Benfield and Wilson McDaniel. Full military rites will be presented at the graveside by members of the Iredell Veterans Council Burial Detail. The family will receive friends evening from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Bunch-Johnson and at other times will be assembled at the residence of the deceased.
