Obituary: Robert Barnes aka Allen, Robert, Bob, Poppie, Pap Pap, Barnes, 72, formerly of Frederick, MD, of Carolina Shores, NC, suddenly passed away , 28, 2014 at Grand Strand Regional Hospital after a brain hemorrhage. He was born May 31, 1942, in Hagerstown, the son of the late Robert Leo and Jane Toms Barnes. A US Army veteran and retired US Government/DOD in 1997. He was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. He was also a member of the Calabash American Legion, Calabash VFW, Shallotte Elks Club, AMVETS, & American Legion Post #11, Fredrick, MD. retirement in 1997, he and his wife moved to Carolina Shores, NC and recently spent his summers in Riverbend Campground in Falling Waters, WV. He enjoyed golfing, watching the news, camping, playing cards and traveling. Surviving are his wife, of 52 years, Nancy Barnes; two sons, Michael Barnes and his wife, Belinda Barnes of Walkersville, MD; Robert Riddell Barnes, and his wife, Tracy Barnes of Raleigh, NC; sister, Carol Huffer, of Jefferson, MD, & three grandchildren, Kristyn Barnes, Michelle Barnes and Jason Barnes of Walkersville, MD. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on , 4th in Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Family request in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to American Heart Association , P.O. Obituary: Rhoyd Eugene Barnes Advance, NC Mr. Rhoyd Eugene Barnes, 78, of Advance, died suddenly , 17, 2014, at his home with his family by his side. Rhoyd was born 9, 1935, in Alexander , NC, a son to the late Rhoyd Barnes and the late Louis Irene Barnes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son. He was of the Baptist Faith and on 9, 1958 he married the love of his life, the former Charlotte Conboy. Rhoyd was employed with Pilot Freight and then, Roadway Trucking for 32 years combined before retiring. retiring he enjoyed traveling, landscaping, gardening, and doing mechanical work with his hands. In his spare time he enjoyed watching NASCAR. Rhoyd could do and fix anything he set his mind to and do it right the first time. He was a very helpful man and was always dependable when you needed him. Always making sure his wife and three daughters was taken care of. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlotte Barnes of the home; three daughters, Cindy Dixon of Salisbury, Sharon Lookabill and husband, Phil of Mocksville, and Karen Woollard and husband, Matthew of Mocksville; five grandchildren, Amanda Longworth, Nathan Short, Larissa Woodward, Ethan and Hayden Woollard; five great grandchildren, Malachi, Adam, Haley, Lindsey, and Kaiden; and seven brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held 2 PM, , 20th at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor Ramond Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM, , 20th at Frank Vogler and Sons , Clemmons Chapel. |
