Obituary: William Harrison Baird, 99, of Raleigh, died 6, 2011. William (Bill) was a native of Petersburg, Virginia and was born on 22, 1911. He was the son of the late Nathanial Harrison Baird and Ruth Seay Baird. On 16, 1933, William married Jane Page Andrews, also of Petersburg, who predeceased him 9, 2000. William and Jane moved to Raleigh in 1939 where they raised their three sons William L., Carlton A., and Robert (Bob) L. Baird who survive him. William was employed with Dillon Supply Co. in Raleigh until his retirement in 1976. William enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping at Lake Gaston; he also enjoyed reminiscing about antique cars. Surviving family include Carlton A. Baird and wife Betty Jane of Pittsboro, NC, and Robert L. Baird and wife Mary Jo of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by the following grandchildren: Anna Baird Choi and husband Hunt of Raleigh, NC; Robert L. Baird, Jr. and wife Deborah of Melbourne, FL; Rose Marie Bates and husband Louis of Columbia, SC; and William P. Baird and wife Laura of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren including Caswell Harrison and Jane Louise Choi of Raleigh, NC: Zachary Alexander, Laura Marie, and Adam Lander Baird of Melbourne, FL; Jasmine Marie and Jessica Michelle Baird of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by a brother, The Rev. Thomas L. Baird of Colonial Heights, VA. William spent his last few years at Spring Arbor and Raleigh Rehabilitation and care of Raleigh. The family would like to extend its thanks to everyone at these facilities for the excellent care provided to William. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm , 8, 2011 at Brown-Wynne , 300 St. Marys St, Raleigh, NC 27605. A funeral service will be held 2:30 pm , 9th at St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 1520 Canterbury Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607. The entombment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Obituary: Mr. Truette Herman Baird, 89, of Rutherford , passed away on , 29, 2015 at Burke Hospice & Palliative , following a period of declining health. Truette was born on May 9, 1926 in Burke to the late Joseph Lynn Baird and Ione Warlick Baird. He was a longtime member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church, attended Western Carolina University and served in the Armed Forces. Truette was employed in the research and development department at JP Stevens. his retirement, he served as a consultant for local textile and hosiery manufacturers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Briggs Baird, second wife, Evelyn Lindsey Baird and one brother, Joe Dean Baird. Surviving is his daughter, Janet Carson and husband Ed, one granddaughter, Meredith Carson, and three sisters, Rachel Woodie, Barbara Williams and Linda Piercy. Also surviving is a sister in-law, Katherine Baird and a special friend and companion, Doris Johnson. Truette left an enduring legacy of love. For his family, his church, his friends and of course, his plants. A memorial service will be held on , 3, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Kevin Frederick officiating. The family will receive friends on , from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Heritage Service in Valdese.
