Obituary: Verne was born on 9, 1924, in Georgetown , SC; and was the eldest of seven children. Verne passed away on 3, 2014, and is now together again forever with her husband of 57 years, Bill "Buck" Buck-Friis. Bill "Buck", and Verne were blessed to have known each other for more than 58 years. loved to travel and enjoyed their mountain home they built together in Cedar Valley. Verne attended school in Florence, SC and Florence Business . She was an active volunteer at University Medical 's Gift Shop for 27 years and was an active member of the Life Telephone Club and Pioneers; she was also an avid member of the infamous Red Hat Society. Some of Verne's favorite pastimes were cooking, gardening and canning all the wonderful fruits of her labor. Verne and Bill are survived by their two children, son, Pete Buck-Friis and his wife Robin; daughter, Becky Pfeiffer and her husband John; seven grandchildren, Brett Stroud, Audra Stetler and her husband Scott, McKenzie Buck-Friis, Heather Stevens and her husband Trevor, Jennifer Weiss and her husband Gabe, Jayson Potthast and his wife Tonya, and Matthew Potthast and his wife Amy; and 11 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Hospital Central California, 9300 Valley Childrens Place, Madera, CA 93720. A Memorial Service will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan, Burns & Blair , 1525 E. Saginaw Way, Fresno on , 12, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. |
