Obituary: Reta M. Boise, 88, passed away at the Oneida care, Oneida, NY on , 25, 2015. She was born on 15, 1927 at the family homestead in Preston, NY, the daughter of Eddie S. and Grace (Hodge) Money. Reta was educated in both Oxford Academy and the Norwich High School. On 6, 1945 she married George C. Boise in the Methodist Church of New Berlin, NY. were looking forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends. In Retas teen years she was a waitress at the Imperial Restaurant and also worked at the Norwich Knitting Mill. For a short time, later in life, she worked for the Credit Bureau of Norwich. In 1950 Reta and George bought their dairy farm in Preston which they ran for 35 years. Reta had an appreciation for the outdoors and farm animals. Reta was active in helping with the day - to - day operation of the farm and keeping the farm books. In later years she particularly enjoyed the time she and George spent at the camp they built in Preston. She also volunteered at the Pink Door and in the café at Chenango Memorial Hospital. She had been a member of the West Side Park Norwich Senior and was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church. Reta also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and doing jigsaw puzzles, many of which we framed and the companionship of the family Beagle, PollyAnna. She and George traveled extensively throughout the United States having visited 48 of the 50 states. Reta is survived by her husband George and daughter Vicky Lynn Alexandra of Durhamville, NY with whom she and George have resided for the past several years; a nephew Wayne H. Rice of Interlachin, FL, two great nephews, Trenton (Debbie) Rice of Canastota, NY and Thomas Rice also of Canastota, NY, a great great nephew and niece, Trevor Rice and Elizabeth Rice both of Oneida, NY along with several cousins. She also leaves special family and friends, Jack Williams of Durhamville, NY, Frances and Charles Joseph of Sherrill, NY, Marcia and Wayne Martin of Rome, NY, Donna and Irv Hobin of Holland Patent, NY, Brian and Dee Ward of Edmeston, NY, Tom and Joanne LeFaivre of Camden, NY, Daniel and Carol Urtz of Blossvale, NY and a special caregiver Rose Chesebro of Blossvale, NY. She was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda E. (Harold) Rice and Gladys E. (Joseph) Dibble and an infant brother Lynn Money. We want to extend our appreciation to the Case Manager, her staff, the nurses and aides on the fifth floor of the Oneida Extended Facility during Retas brief stay. Their care, concern and compassion were greatly appreciated. We also want to thank the Vienna Fire Dept. and the Vineall Ambulance personnel for their prompt response. A funeral service for Reta will be held on , 29 at 1:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy . The Rev. Nancy Hale, Pastor of the Broad St. United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Obituary: George C. Boise, 89, passed away , 28, 2017, at the Bethany Gardens Skilled of Rome, NY. He was the son of George S. Boise and Marjorie Bartlett Boise Gigee. George was born on 8, 1928 in Sherburne, NY and was raised and educated in Sherburne. On 6, 1945 he married Reta (Money) Boise at the New Berlin Methodist Church. A union just eleven days short of 70 years. Reta passed away 25, 2015. Beginning in 1950 George and Reta ran their dairy farm in Preston, NY. In 1957 George was one of three area farmers who received a plaque as Outstanding Young Farmer presented by the Norwich Jaycees. In 1958 he served as Co-chairman of the Executive Committee of the Norwich Township Grange Hall. In 1958 he received trophies for Grass Silage King, Hay King and Corn King of Chenango presented by the Chenango Extension Service and the National Bank and Trust of Norwich. In 1959 he received Blue Ribbons for First Place second cutting of Alfalfa and First Place for second cutting of Clover, at the Hay and Grain Show sponsored by the Chenango Extension Service. George was a 31 year member of the Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service and in 1959 he was nominated by the Executive Committee of the Chenango Extension Service to serve as the Town of Preston representative of the Dairy Committee of the Agriculture Department. George was a Charter Member of the Chenango Fourth of Club sponsored by the National Bank and Trust of Norwich and for the years 1961 through 1967 he received certificates for completing first cutting of hay by 4th. Also, from 1961 -1963 he was an FHA Committeeman for Chenango . George was a member of the NYABC and instituted a 100 % Holstein breeding program. In 1961, in an Evening Sun article, he was interviewed by a representative of the NYABC and when asked about his success in dairy farming, he replied, It takes hard work and good management. On 8, 1977 George was elected Town Councilman for the Town of Preston to serve from 1977 to 1981. On 4, 1979 he was elected Supervisor of the Town of Preston on the Republican ticket. Beginning in1975 he was a member of the Chenango Valley Farmers Cooperative Co., Inc. of the Oxford milk plant and held the offices of Director and Vice President. For many years George was a member of the Tractor Pull, Modified Division at the Chenango Fair sanctioned by the NYS Farmers Tractor Pull Association, Inc. and participated in pulls with his John Deere 2520 tractor. retiring from farming George worked for several years as a carpenter in Cortland. Thereafter, he worked as a driver for De Tec Limo Service in Norwich and later drove privately for individuals mainly to and from New York City airports. During the latter years of their retirement, George and Reta lived with their daughter Vicky, In Utica and Durhamville and enjoyed fishing, swimming and boating on Oneida Lake. George always enjoyed the outdoors including deer hunting and ice fishing. He also was an avid snowmobiler and in the late 60s participated in several local snowmobile races. In the years 1963 - 1979 George enjoyed bowling in several leagues including The Oxford Commercial Bowling League (Thompson Fuel), the Town & Country Bowling League (Cossitt Motor Express) and the Merchantile Bowling League (Pauls Exxon). George and Reta also enjoyed their camp in Preston that George took pride in building. He and Reta loved playing cards with family and friends and were members of the West Side Senior Citizens in Norwich. also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States having toured 48 of the 50 states. George is survived by his daughter, Vicky B. Alexandra of Durhamville, NY, his sisters Marcia (Wayne) Martin of Rome, NY, Mary Ellen (Joseph) Guilliani of Amsterdam, NY a brother Mark Boise of Whitesboro, NY along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends from Chenango and his companion, the family beagle, Polly Anna. George was predeceased by his wife Reta and a sister Orilla Kindig in 2013. Obituary: Donald E. DuBois Sr., 83, a longtime resident of Pitcher passed away evening, 5, 2017 at the Wilson Regional Medical of Johnson City. Don was born on 23, 1934 in Oxford the son of Herbert and Jeanette (Lavere) DuBois. He was raised in Oxford where he attended the local schools. At the age of 9 he moved with his family to Kirk and in 1952 moved to Pitcher where he continued to make his home for the rest of his life. A Veteran of the Korean Conflict he served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 until his honorable discharge in of 1955. On 27, 1954 in No. Pitcher he married Glorianna Stone who survives. Throughout his life Don was a hardworking, fair and family oriented man. For many years he and his wife owned and operated their own farm along with his children. Hard work was the name of the game and he made sure his children understood what it was like to do an honest days work. While running the farm he also worked construction and repaired diesel engines. Politics, don go there with him!! He was VERY political in his views and if you entered into a discussion with him on the subject you best know your facts. Don also was a history buff, especially anything regarding the military. He was a factual man on many subjects. In his leisure time he enjoyed riding the countryside, especially the back road looking at the old barns which were no longer in use. Don is survived by his wife Glorianna of Pitcher, his children Donald (Traci) DuBois Jr. of Mooresville, NC, Sally (Gerardo) Cuellar of Milpitas, CA, JoAnne DuBois of Sherburne, Joan Parks of Norwich, Ronald (Jaymee) DuBois of No. Pitcher, Shelly (Chris) Beckwith of Cincinnatus and John (Kim) DuBois of Sherburne. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
